Job Summary

Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall is rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. We support people to stay living well and safely in their own homes across mid and west Cornwall, and our homecare service works with customers day in, day out, in the routines and surroundings that matter most to them.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Homecare Team Leader to work alongside the Area Manager, guiding and developing a team of Care Experts while keeping the quality of care where it should be.

Key Responsibilities

You are the person the team looks to day to day:

  • Coach, supervise and support a team of Care Experts, and give regular feedback to the Area Manager
  • Lead by example, setting the standard for conduct, professionalism and care
  • Carry out quality checks, spot checks, customer reviews and care plan updates
  • Support the Area Manager with compliance, safety and continuous improvement across the service
  • Deliver hands-on, person-centred care yourself when it is needed, including personal care
  • Record and report accurately, promptly and clearly, and escalate concerns through the right channels
  • Complete the administration that keeps the service running properly, with time in your week set aside for it
  • Build strong working relationships with customers, families, healthcare professionals and the wider team

What you get

  • £14.46 an hour weekdays, £14.66 at weekends and £21.08 on bank holidays
  • 37.5 hours a week, permanent, with your rota planned in advance and paid admin time built in
  • A real say in how the service runs, and an Area Manager who listens
  • Company pension
  • Blue Light Card membership
  • £100 refer-a-friend bonus
  • Access to a company hire car if you need one
  • Annual appraisal recognition, Carer of the Month and staff recognition events
  • Qualified Mental Health First Aiders in the team, and genuine wellbeing support
  • Staff social activities, and charity and fundraising events

Essential

  • Previous experience within the health and social care sector
  • Experience of homecare or domiciliary care
  • Caring and reliable, confident working independently and supporting others to do the same
  • Comfortable providing personal care, including intimate personal care
  • Basic IT skills
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work
  • Able to work flexibly on a rota, including weekdays and weekends

Desirable

  • An understanding of rota planning
  • Experience of care planning or risk assessments
  • NVQ or Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care

Homecare experience is what we are ideally looking for, but if you have come from another care setting and are ready to lead a team, we would still like to hear from you.

How we will grow you

You will get a full paid induction and ongoing expert training from day one. Beyond that there is specialist training and development, including extended skills such as PEG feeding and suctioning, and support to work towards your Level 3 or Level 5 if that is where you want to go. We will back you with supervision, honest feedback and coaching, and there is a clear route into senior and management roles here for people who want it. Everything you learn with us stays with you and builds your professional record.

Before you apply

  • You will need the right to work in the UK. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle are essential.
  • DBS checking and references will be undertaken in line with government regulations and recruitment best practices.
  • Bluebird Care Mid & West Cornwall is an equal opportunities employer.
  • We may close this vacancy early once we find the right person, so do apply soon.

It's good to be home.
