The opportunity

The Care Service Manager is a senior leadership role with real influence over the quality, consistency and future development of Sarah's Carers. Working closely with the Registered Manager, you will combine hands-on care management with team leadership, quality assurance and service improvement.

You will help colleagues build confidence, ensure clients and families receive responsive, person-centred support, and turn service information into practical improvements. Your contribution will be central to the continued growth and success of Sarah's Carers.

What you will be responsible for

Care quality and service improvement

  • Complete every initial client assessment and ensure the initial person-centred care plan and risk assessments are in place before care begins.

  • Lead reassessments for complex or high-risk situations, ensuring that care plans, risk controls and monitoring instructions remain accurate, current and clearly documented.

  • Review concerns, observations and service information to identify patterns, emerging risks and opportunities to improve the client and colleague experience.

  • Maintain a clear care-plan quality framework that supports consistent standards, peer review and colleague development.

People leadership and service operations

  • Line-manage the Care Coordinators, Community Supervisors and Live-in Care Coordinator through regular supervision, fair performance management and structured development.

  • Build capability through coaching, observed practice, constructive feedback and evidence-based development decisions.

  • Oversee the extended-hours and on-call arrangements, ensuring competent cover, clear escalation and reliable records; participate in an on-call rota, including weekends. Detailed arrangements will be confirmed.

Quality, safeguarding and regulatory assurance

  • Own complaints from receipt through investigation, response, learning and closure, ensuring that the evidence and resulting improvements are fully documented.

  • Ensure incidents, safeguarding concerns and related actions have clear owners, evidence, timescales, escalation and documented closure.

  • Assess and document whether events require notification to the Care Quality Commission (CQC), using current guidance and appropriate escalation routes.

  • Lead engagement with clients and families, to build trusted relationships and enhance service quality.

  • Build productive relationships with GPs, district nurses, occupational therapists, discharge teams and other relevant professionals, ensuring liaison and agreed actions are documented.

  • Communicate clearly and sensitively when needs change, risks increase, or concerns require prompt action.

A day in the role

This is a varied and influential role where you will help shape the future of Sarah's Carers. You will have the autonomy to make improvements, develop the team and strengthen the quality of our service as we grow.

During the day, you could complete a new client assessment, review a complex care situation, support a colleague through supervision or coaching, liaise with a family or external professional, and check that care plans and risk assessments remain accurate and person-centred. You will also look across service information to identify patterns, resolve issues, and ensure that learning from feedback, complaints, and incidents leads to documented improvements.

Every day will bring different opportunities to make a positive difference. Your leadership will directly influence the experience of our clients, families and colleagues and contribute significantly to the continued growth and success of Sarah's Carers.

What you will bring

Essential

  • Strong experience in regulated adult social care, with a sound understanding of person-centred practice, safeguarding and CQC expectations.

  • Confidence in completing client assessments, writing care plans and risk assessments, and managing complex or changing care situations.

  • Experience leading and developing colleagues through supervision, coaching, feedback and fair performance management.

  • The ability to balance priorities, make well-reasoned decisions and remain calm in a varied, fast-moving service.

  • Clear, compassionate communication with clients, families, colleagues and professional partners.

  • Accurate record-keeping and the ability to present clear evidence of decisions, actions, reviews and outcomes.

  • A full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and willingness to travel as required.

  • Willingness and flexibility to participate in an on-call rota, including weekends; detailed arrangements will be confirmed.

Desirable

  • A Level 5 qualification in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, or an equivalent qualification.

  • Management experience in domiciliary, home-care or community-based services.

  • Experience leading audits, complaints investigations or service-improvement activity.
