Job Summary

Role: Specialist Home Care Assistant

Location: Bournemouth

Pay rate: £13.70 - £15.70 per hour

Travel: £12.71 per hour + 40p per mile mileage allowance

Hours: Full-time, including alternate weekends (days off to include every Thursday and every other weekend)

Shift pattern: 07:00 to 14:00 & 16:00 to 22:00

Care South, a leading not-for-profit charity, have exciting opportunities for a Specialist Home Care Assistant to join our Bournemouth Care at Home team. 

The Specialist Home Care Assistant plays a vital role in motivating and encouraging clients with a diverse range of social needs and medical conditions in their homes, supporting them to improve their independence.

 This role is a mix of community and office-based work; it is essential that applicants hold a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.

What You’ll Be Doing & Why You’ll Love Working with Us

  • Completing quality needs assessments, producing relevant documentation, and completing weekly reviews of outcomes. 
  • Assessing clients' tailored reablement plans and risk assessments. Reviewing and updating these on a daily and weekly basis. 
  • Assisting with signposting clients to services which will ensure their continued independence after the reablement programme service has ceased. 
  • Supporting clients with personal care tasks such as washing, dressing, bathing, shaving, hair washing and oral hygiene and to undertake these tasks themselves where appropriate to maintain their independence. 
  • Supporting clients with daily living tasks such as domestic cleaning and shopping.
  • Assisting clients with meal planning, preparation and cooking.

About you:

  • Previous experience in a care setting is desirable but not required.
  • You will have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Flexible in the hours you can work and ability to work every other weekend.
  • Strong attention to detail and reporting skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • You will hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be prepared to undertake one.
