Home Instead Bromley, Chislehurst & Orpington have re-launched their Love to Move sessions, delivering seated exercise classes in dementia friendly cafes and community groups in the borough.

The Love to Move programme was founded by the British Gymnastics Society to get older people moving and functioning better. The programme achieves this by integrating the use of gymnastic foundation skills, cognitive stimulation therapy and social interaction activities.

Gill Pratt, who has been trained by the BGS to deliver the sessions and has worked for the CQC Outstanding homecare provider, Home Instead, for the past 6 years said, “I feel that my life experiences have helped me to understand the emotions and difficulties our senior people in the community may be living with, and to deliver a programme that is physically and mentally making positive changes is a real joy!”

The atmosphere at the most recent session at Memory Box Café, Community House was warm and friendly as Gill lead the group through a series of seated exercises, all set to music. Gill had everyone clapping and moving and even singing along to their favourite songs.

Home Instead are offering Love to Move classes, as well as a series of information sessions focusing on improving the lives of seniors living in the borough of Bromley.
