Hartley Wintney Voluntary Care Groups, Singing for the mind, run singing sessions for those living with dementia in the local area, and Home Instead care professional, Jo takes her client, Ivy, from Fleet, on a regular basis but on a recent visit the occasion was made extra special with a carol concert performed by the choir of Greenfields Junior School.

Ivy was clearly delighted, the choir didn’t just sing beautifully but were so charming. After the performance Ivy and Jo participated in singing exercises and both can hold a tune. Jo and Ivy joked and obviously enjoyed each other’s company. This is a true reflection of Home Instead’s philosophy, that care should be about relationships. Since April 2017 Singing for the Mind provide weekly singing sessions a Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 - 3:00pm, at Hartley Wintney Football Club or the WI Hut, both on Green Lane.

These sessions are open to anyone living with dementia, their family, carers and friends. There is no need to book in advance, just go along on any Wednesday and members of local choirs come along to help.

As Home Instead care professionals offer transportation as part of their service to clients, they are able to take them to wonderful sessions like those that Sing For the Mind provide to those in the Fleet, Farnham, Aldershot, Farnborough areas and surrounding villages.
