Meet Bestie: One of Our Amazing Sponsored Carers

Here at Kare Plus Ashford, we recently had the pleasure of sitting down for a 3 month catch-up with one of our wonderful sponsored carers, Bestie. Here's what she had to say about her journey and experiences within our community.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share a bit about your background before joining our company?

Hello, I'm Bestie. I moved to the UK around 8 months ago and initially started working with a care company in Oxford. Unfortunately, despite promises of work, I didn’t get any hours, leaving me without an income. I then applied with Kare Plus and now happily work 40 hours a week.

??? What motivated you to want to join our company under the sponsorship programme? How have you found working for our company so far?

After many years in hospitality, I was ready for a new challenge and felt that caring was a field where I could truly excel. Joining Kare Plus Ashford has been a fantastic experience. The staff here are incredibly friendly, and I enjoy working with them.

Can you share any challenges you faced in adapting to a new work environment? On the flip side, what have been the most rewarding aspects of working with our company?

Adapting to driving in the UK was a big challenge for me since I only drove properly after moving here from Zimbabwe. However, everyone at Kare Plus Ashford has been so friendly and helpful, making the transition smoother.

Are there any specific skills or knowledge areas you feel you've developed since joining us?

Since joining Kare Plus, I've grown more confident and am more willing to take on new challenges.

How would you describe the teamwork and collaboration within our company? The teamwork here is fantastic. I work closely with Michelle and Ottilia, who have been extremely helpful. Everyone at Kare Plus genuinely cares about their work, which creates a wonderful collaborative environment.

??? What are your expectations for the future, both in terms of your personal growth and the company's success?

I aim to climb the career ladder and eventually move into a senior role within the company.

If you could give advice to others considering a similar experience, what would it be? Take the chance! It’s a rewarding experience that’s definitely worth it.
