We are all feeling the impact of the recent events in Hull and other cities. The violence we witnessed over the weekend has left a deep and lasting mark on our communities. It’s a troubling reminder that such actions are completely at odds with the values we hold dear.

Brichand Ramruttun, our Interim Executive Director of Adult Social Care & Health for East Riding, has shared this important message:

"The events in Hull and other cities at the weekend have left a deep and lasting mark on our communities.

The profoundly disturbing scenes of violence that we witnessed conflict deeply with our values and our purpose as a council.

We are grateful to our providers for their diligence and for continuing to provide services to our most vulnerable citizens in challenging situations.

As one of our valued providers we know that you will deploy your contingency arrangements and carry out risk assessments to ensure the safety and wellbeing of service users and the workforce.

Be assured that we are here to support our providers. You can find a list of resources here Useful contacts - Racism and mental health: Mind UK (mind.org.uk/information-support/tips-for-everyday-living) that might be useful for you to use, or, for you to signpost to others. You can also reach out to Home - Welcome House (welcomehousehull.org.uk) which supports Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Hull and the East Riding.

There have been a series of social media posts suggesting protests will take place in our area. At this moment Humberside Police have not received any information to substantiate any reports and are monitoring intelligence on a regular basis.

If this information changes, it will be communicated at the earliest opportunity. The police are actively progressing various lines of enquiry to identify those involved with the violent disorder.

Anyone with any information in relation to offenders or offences, should get in touch on 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. You can also provide information directly to the investigation team, which will be dealt with in the strictest confidence, through the Major Incident Public Portal Public Portal (mipp.police.uk).

In the event of an emergency or major incident, please contact the police through 999."

Let’s continue to support each other, stay safe, and uphold the values that make our community strong.
