The Dementia Experience with Right at Home Twickenham and Richmond

At Right at Home Twickenham and Richmond, we are dementia specialists which is why we offer high-quality, person-centred dementia care as part of our trusted services. Our experienced team includes several trained Dementia Champions, led by our dementia care expert, Adriana.

We offer a unique dementia awareness experience designed to help families, friends, caregivers, and local community members gain a deeper understanding of what it’s like to live with dementia. This informative session is delivered by Adriana, who is also available to answer any questions about dementia care and how to support a loved one living with dementia.

The Dementia Experience is truly eye opening as it gives participants an opportunity to step into the shoes of someone living with dementia and experience first-hand the physical and sensory challenges they face every day. Simple tasks that we often take for granted, like pairing socks or setting a table, suddenly become much more difficult... helping you appreciate just how demanding everyday life can become for those with dementia.

This immersive session encourages a deeper sense of patience and understanding. It’s important to remember that dementia is not one-size-fits-all as there are over 400 different types, each affecting individuals in unique ways.

Often described as “invigorating, disorientating, and moving,” the session is both engaging and insightful; it’s a valuable step towards a better understanding of dementia and how to support those living with it.
