Kim's got her spark back

Kim Charlton says being at Caremark Kirklees for the past three years has helped her rediscover her confidence and passion for work. She says we have helped “get her spark back”.

Having worked in administration for over 30 years, we feel fortunate to have her. This is because she is unflappable, professional and takes excellent care of our customers, care assistants and office staff.

She jokes this is the reason she is known affectionately in the office as “Yoda”, the Jedi sage everyone turns to when they need a problem solving. However, when it comes to administration, she certainly doesn’t need to use the power of the Force!

Working part?time, Kim supports our Director Fiona with HR, managing a variety of essential tasks. These include sending and verifying references and preparing training packs for Caremark’s regular training weeks. She also played an instrumental role in supporting the office’s shift toward paperless working.

Kim says: “After over 20 years working in another environment it was a little nerve-wracking starting again at somewhere completely new, but I was appreciated from day one and it gave me back the self-belief I had temporarily lost.

“There’s a great workplace culture here which defined by openness, listening, support and genuine care, not only for customers but for one another.

“The staff in the office staff make it a priority to support carers in the field, whether it’s rota concerns, shift issues, or personal worries. The first instinct is always to say come in and let’s talk about it. In addition, it’s a company which listens.”

Kim has recommended Caremark to several friends and acquaintances. She says she would “definitely not” do this unless she genuinely believed in the organisation.

Outside of work, Kim is an avid reader with a love for crime fiction, autobiographies, and classic detective TV series such as Inspector Morse and Midsomer Murders. She also stays active with weekly PT sessions, enjoys walking, and cherishes time with her family. She especially cherishes time with her young granddaughter.
