Home Instead Watford has launched a free monthly Singing for the Brain club in Bushey, running in partnership with the Alzheimer's Society and hosted at Bushey House Beaumont Care Home on the High Street.
The sessions are open to anyone living with dementia or memory loss, as well as the family members and friends who care for them. No experience is needed and no booking is required.
The club runs on the third Wednesday of every month, from 11:00am to 12:30pm, with the first session taking place on Wednesday 15th April 2026. Light refreshments including tea, coffee, and biscuits are provided free of charge.
Singing for the Brain is an evidence-based therapeutic music programme backed by the Alzheimer's Society. It brings people together to sing familiar songs, share a cup of tea, and enjoy each other's company, and research consistently shows that music-based activities can support communication, reduce feelings of isolation, and improve overall wellbeing for people living with dementia.
Stephanie Turner, Group Business Development Manager at Home Instead Watford, said: "We know how much life can narrow when someone you love is living with dementia, for them, and for you. Something as simple as an hour of singing with other people, a biscuit and a cup of tea, and a room full of friendly faces can make a real difference to how a week feels. That's why we wanted to bring Singing for the Brain to Bushey. We hope it becomes somewhere people look forward to coming back to, month after month."
Every session is run by Home Instead Watford's trained Care Professionals alongside the warm and welcoming team at Bushey House Beaumont. The new club is the latest in a series of initiatives reflecting Home Instead Watford's deep commitment to the local dementia community, a commitment recognised earlier this year when the team was awarded Gold accreditation by Dementia Friendly Hertfordshire, the highest level of recognition under the scheme.
Bushey House Beaumont is located on Bushey High Street and is easily reached from Watford, Oxhey, and Stanmore, with the venue being fully accessible with limited on-site parking and bus links nearby.
