View Full Details of Mumby's Live-in CareWe approached Mumby's when we thought that Mum was becoming less able to look after herself. Mum is adamant that she wants to live at home and Mumby's is enabling her to do this. Mum values the continuity of care provided by two regular carers. They balance doing everything for Mum and supporting her in doing what she can do. The management is very supportive and enabling smooth handovers between the carers. While it seems expensive it does seem to be reasonable compared to the alternatives. It is improving Mum's lifestyle and enabling us to maintain our own lifestyles, doing our own things and including going on holiday. In summary it is allowing us to continue to be sons rather than becoming carers.
Everyone at Mumbys has been so supportive from the very beginning; talking through my mother's requirements, providing CVs, facilitating video calls, introducing carers and regularly following up by email and in person. The carers have also been fantastic, supporting my mother to live independently and caring for her needs. Thank you!
Genuine lifesaver! My mother needed at-home care quickly and Mumby's were swift and thorough in providing it. The carers provided have been excellent, especially when my mum was ill - the real test! There is flexibility if personalities don't quite work and even if that is the case, the quality of care is exemplary. Mum has had two carers over a few months and transitions have been seamless and managerial support has been excellent. A comprehensive care plan was defined and refined as appropriate during any care period. As with any live-in care, the cost is extreme (£1600+ per WEEK), but in-line with any other managed service. Highly recommended.
From the very first phone call to the day Mum's new carer walked through the door I didn't have a concern. Everyone I spoke to and met totally understood what a huge decision this was for Mum as well as myself and were empathetic, understanding and helped us find the right carer. Admittedly the first couple of weeks weren't easy as Mum adjusted to having someone 'strange' living with her 24 hours a day but with the patience and experience of the carer and the support of Mumby's Mum slowly adjusted and realised that she no longer had to worry about a thing (as indeed I didn't ). She began to appreciate all the benefits of having someone there to 'look after her' and to take her out, do all the things she loved doing, as well as do her shopping, washing, clean her flat and cook delicious meals and all in her own home. 6 months on Mum is totally lost without her carer, they go out every day and even have a holiday planned in July. Mum has a new lease of life at the tender age of 88.
I can only say that I have been able to work with Mumbys very well to ensure that the person I help care for is reliably cared for. Should any problem arise it is easily resolved with input from all involved. The care required does change because circumstances change and Mumbys find a way to resolve the issue.
We are very happy with the care provided, especially with one specific member of staff who has been very professional and thoughtful. He has foreseen not only the client's needs, but also the needs of the household and has lightened the daily demands of running the house which has been extremely helpful for me and has created a more relaxed atmosphere. For example, help with shopping ( even if only a newspaper if required), laundry, cooking, tea/coffee for visitors, being taken to the local restaurant, choosing which clothes to wear, suggesting a change in the lunch menu and providing it, assisting the physiotherapist ( while of course all responsibility and the actual physiotherapy remains with the physiotherapist) etc. Sometimes with one or two previous carers I have had to 'care' for them! We are very satisfied generally with the standard of care and the positive attitude of the Mumby's carers.
After a fall and increasing forgetfulness , fragility and difficulty in looking after herself Mum and the family agreed that Mum would need extra support in her home. We contacted Mumby's who were efficient and thorough in their assessment and explanation of the care that they could provide and have been easy to contact when necessary .Their representative has made several home visits to update Mum' s Care Plan, talk to mum , the family and carer so helping us all become a team. Mum has been supported by several carers all of whom have been friendly and supportive helping Mum get the most out of life despite Dementia and Mum has enjoyed their company.
The experience I have had with both my carers has been excellent. Both came from Poland so it was not easy with my dysarthria but they both made it work. One of them gave me the confidence, but the other was the cleverer.
The standard of care was excellent. The carer was kind and patient and looked after my mum exceptionally well. They got on really well and she cooked lovely food for mum. She was confident and capable with mums care needs.
Our fit and healthy father had an ischaemic stroke and contracted viral encephalitis. Sadly he also went through medical negligence and required 18 months of hospitalisation. Finally, we were able to get our father home but sadly Social Services became a hurdle preventing our father from getting the care that he required. We found Mumby's and were immediately impressed by the compassion and empathy that they showed both our father and us as a family. We were in regular contact with the staff who went above and beyond to help us safeguard our father and provided us with both professional advice and emotional support for a family at breaking point. At times we were in panic mode but the carer reassured us that Dad's needs could be met and put our minds at ease. One of the staff found a wonderful carer that met our father's requirements and on the 19th of November 2024, we finally got our father home! He is thriving with his live-in carer and will be forever grateful to this wonderful company. Thank you!
Mumby's provided exceptional live-in care for my Mum for nearly four years. Our main live-in carer looked after Mum for most of that time. When Mum left hospital, staff thought she was end of life and would die within weeks. It was thanks to excellent care, food, and appropriate medication and equipment that Mum lived for nearly four years. The carer built a great rapport with Mum; she was loving and caring and could get the best out of Mum even as her dementia got worse. While Mum was capable of it, she entertained her with puzzles and games. She was committed to getting Mum outside. She was thorough, well-organised, clean and tidy. She was an excellent cook. She delivered prescribed medicines but also referred Mum to the GP or for specialist support. Of course, she had longer breaks. Mumby's always provided a replacement carer. Some were exceptional; their different styles gave Mum variety. The office team were available to support the carers, including chasing medical services.
We used Mumby's for the five weeks preceding my husband's death. From the initial consultation to the experience of having a live-in carer, I can only say that Mumby's has been a godsend. Every contact has been both efficient and shown human warmth and understanding. Our carer had to deal with a quickly changing situation which she did with extraordinarily calm capability. She looked after my husband with great skill, natural talent and devotion.
We are very happy with Mumby's services and support given to my father. They also make the wider family feel at ease when visiting the home. We're very happy with the level of care and communication we receive from both the carers and the management team.
My uncle is extremely well looked after by excellent carers who understand his need for sensitive, supporting care within his daily routine. Mumby's has, throughout, listened to any concerns we have had and dealt with them appropriately with kindness and patience to all concerned, and I would not hesitate to recommend this company to other future clients.
We are delighted with Mumby's services and support given to not just our mother, but also to the wider family. As we do not live locally, we are entirely confident that Mumby's carers are in full control of the day-to-day needs. The level of communication between us and all the members of Mumby's team is personal, high quality, timely and well-informed.
My mother has been well looked after by the carers that they find for her. If she has a problem they are quick to resolve any issues. We as a family are happy with the service we have received this year. Mumby’s go the extra mile and the staff are always there to help.
My brother has 2 main carers from Mumby's and others who come, when his main carers are not available. When I visit, (normally fortnightly) carers are conscientious, friendly and helpful. They are meticulous about medication and support my brother appropriately without taking away what independence he has. His two main carers are respectful and kind, and cooperate with whatever he wants to do, enhancing his independence. They attend to his personal care when needed. The main Carers are reliable, and manage the house well and my brother enjoys their cooking. I am so relieved to think he is safe in their hands. Some carers might not enjoy the quiet rural setting full of wildlife where my brother lives but Mumby's are good at matching the Carer to his needs and environment. They also respond quickly if there are any issues which need sorting. Excellent agency.
We have used Mumby's for live-in care for around a year now and we have been very happy with them. If there have been any issues, as there sometimes can be, we’ve contacted one of the staff members and she has always done her utmost to resolve it. We have a carer at present and she is such a great fit for both my mum and our family. Mumby's takes the time to get the right carer and this makes the world of difference to us all as a family. Thank you.
We chose Mumby's because they employ their own staff, and they can match a suitable carer to the client taking into consideration their health and day-to-day care needs. However, the carer profile is not comprehensive enough, more details should be given with their experience in previous roles and relevant care capabilities. What experience they have in certain areas. The carers who worked out well with mother, were a great success, and we knew mother was being well looked after, however in the last year of our mother's life, she had many complex health needs, and, as she deteriorated, there were times when her behaviour was challenging, and some carers found this difficult to manage. In the last weeks of her life, my mother needed palliative care, the carer managed to the best of her ability but not enough experience. Mumbys are always willing to listen, and be supportive on the telephone, and give good advice when needed. I can recommend them as a good care agency.
Mumby's were very easy to deal with and were very flexible and accommodating as we struggled to tie down exact care needs and dates for my mother coming out of hospital. The carer provided was both good at providing personal care and had a very friendly and caring nature. The service provided was indispensable and I would not hesitate to recommend Mumby's for live-in care.
