View Full Details of Home Instead (Edinburgh)Excellent, stimulating care from kind people. No complaints.
We have two live-in care professionals for our Mum and stepfather, who stay with them for a fortnight each during the month. It's taken a bit of time to get into a rhythm with the two ladies but now we have a good system going and they are both very attentive and caring with them. This level of support gives us, as a family, peace of mind in knowing that our parents are safe and happy. Thank you to the Home Instead office and to our two lovely carers!
This service is vital for my Mum as it provides companionship at a time when none of the family are around. Early evenings and weekends are where my Mum requires the service the most and I feel Hominstead have been very flexible with the times and days they provide the service. They have been punctual and if something inadvertently comes up that delays one of them arrving they always contact me to let me know.
Caregivers have a lovely friendly manner, and are sensitive to needs regarding medications, lotions, meals, dressing etc. They are very thoughtful and supportive, and can adapt companionship activities to the varying energy levels of the client eg walks, sitting in the garden or watching TV. Back up by office staff is also very efficient and helpful.
The Adult is very happy with the service he receives from Home Instead and seems to benefit from their visits which take place twice per week. He seems to get on well with both of the staff members who visit him.
My mum really needs so much more help than I am able to provide but I feel very comfortable knowing she has home instead carers going in most days to help her shower and dress and take care of her medical needs She enjoys seeing the carers very much and has adjusted to them very well While the care provided is expensive I think it's a price worth paying for her to be taken care of and to give me peace of mind. As her condition has declined I am seeking further assistance from hone instead to fill the gaps I think that says it all about the service she receives Thank you for helping us both to all her carers we appreciate everything you do
I engaged the services of Home Instead reluctantly after a fall, which made movement painful and difficult. I live alone, and have no close family nearby. From the start I found the staff helpful and empathetic to my needs. They were ready to listen to my concerns, and to give me time to decide how best to arrange help and support that I could be comfortable with. I can truly say that I have enjoyed and benefitted from their help, and have recovered my strength and independence through their efforts. Thank you all.
Home Instead have provided a fantastic service to many of our clients. They are prompt, flexible and quick to assist. They keep very good care of our elderly clients and the administrative team are also easy to liaise with.
Home Instead carers have been supporting my Mum (who has dementia) and Dad (Mum's primary carer) for about two years now. We have had a number of different carers coming in and they have all been lovely. They have provided empathetic and kind companionship for my Mum, enabling her to pursue as much of her previous hobbies and interests as she is capable of. They have also given Mum excellent personal care. They help with the laundry, which takes a lot of the pressure and work off my Dad. All this has enabled my parents to continue living in their own home. The whole family is grateful and impressed by the standard of care provided.
First class in all departments. Without exception, all the staff are professional and extremely "caring", from back room to front line employees. I would have no hesitation in recommending Home Instead to all family and friends, and have done so. If you are in a position where additional support is required within your family, any doubts you might have about arranging quality care will be quickly quashed by those at Home Instead.
Our mum has early dementia and we have been clients of Home Instead for 9 months now. The service is excellent. The communication between the team and the family is very good and we have total confidence that they really care about mum as an individual and encourage her independence. The carer, client match is perfect, some tasks my mum now finds difficult are completed quietly without making mum feel she is losing her ability to look after herself. Mum enjoys the company and the companionship gives mum experiences that she enjoys and expands her interests outside our family. We are really happy and trust the team at Home Instead and particularly mum's individual carer.
On the whole my experience is a positive one. The client enjoys the companionship visits and she has a developed a good bond with the caregiver. The caregiver goes above and beyond to meet the client's needs by getting her shopping and encouraging her to go out for lunch. The client looks forward to the caregiver's visits. The caregiver is sensitive to the clients needs and provides support to ensure her needs are met.
I have been using Home Instead now for five years for my wife who has Dementia. All of the carers have shown great empathy with me wife . Our two principal carers are now well known to me and my family and we are all appreciative of what they do. This includes taking her to hair appointments, taking her out for coffee and recently on a trip to the Botanics. They help with the laundry and cleaning the house. They are also very amenable to changes in their visits to meet our requirements...and some of these are really quite long. Nothing is too much trouble for them . I have also always found the office staff whom I have never met very helpful too.
The service I receive concerns assistance with domestic duties including all laundry, ironing, bed linen changing and related activities for myself and any family or other guests who visit for short periods. The staff providing these services have been of high quality, very pleasant to deal with and most helpful in advising on other domestic activities. As a recently widowed 87- year man this support has been invaluable.
Mum has had a lovely Carer/Companion visit twice a week since the beginning of the year, as she had a fall & needed help in the weeks afterwards. Mum was initially hesitant for visits as she is fiercely independent, but at 99 years young, she realised it was the best solution to allowing her to stay at home. Mum has bonded with her well and they have good chats & she helps Mum with the tasks that are now tricky, plus the fun stuff like making marmalade and hanging out the sheets! (Pretty much anything Mum needs done) My brother & I can rest easier knowing that someone kind and caring is visiting twice a week - particularly as we both live far away from Mum. I cannot thank the Carer and the lovely staff at Home Instead for their top notch service and personal care and attention. We would be a bit lost without you all & thanks to you - Mum can enjoy still being in her beloved home as she wants. (Also knowing that visits can be increase is a comfort) Many, many thanks!
The service we get is excellent and provides much needed security for my aunt and her family, particularly as we don't live in the immediate area. Her regular carer is particularly supportive and Dorothy has formed a strong bond with her. Communication is good with any changes to care services notified in advance. We are very happy with the service provided.
Home Instead been providing Carers for my Dad for 8 months now. Dad has Dementia and unfortunately still does not know the regular Carers who have all been very professional and kind. It is a difficult stage having to take on the responsibility for a parent but Home Instead staff have been very supportive and have given helpful ideas. Always get updates and information if any changes to the regular pattern which I appreciate.
Excellent all round service. Extremely kind and thoughtful carer who is always ready to go the extra mile. As well as supporting with essential domestic tasks and assisting with personal care, her friendly manner makes each visit something to look forward to. She has been a huge support to the whole family.
I have recently organised Home Instead for some support for my mum. I previously had them to help with my aunt and thought they were great. Lovely carers who can help with so many things. Mum is recently diagnosed with dementia and needs support and help at home and her helper has been great at gaining mums confidence and encouraging her to keep on top of things.
My mother has been using Home Instead for a number of years now. They were initially employed by her husband around five years ago so that she could have a companion to go out shopping etc. Unfortunately, her husband passed away about a year later and her health deteriorated significantly. She has had many hospital stays over the last four years and throughout this period the assistance provided by her carer/companion has been first class. Her companion takes her out, provides great help throughout her flat and keeps her mentally stimulated. It's a great relief to know that she is in such good hands, of someone that genuinely cares. My only gripe (and I appreciate that Home Instead is a business) is that you have to give two weeks;' notice when you don't think you will need the services of a carer/companion. For example, when my Mother was taken into hospital suddenly and therefore didn't require her companion for a while but is still charged for the next 2 weeks.
