Home Instead have been supporting our family member for 18 months . We are very appreciative of the excellent and totally reliable service and support they provide. The team of regular carers enable continuity and reassurance. I know Martyn looks forward to the daily visits. Without this input he would
not manage daily living. i am also impressed by the professional standards of practice at the office and admin level and willingness to discuss ways to work and support .

We are delighted with the care my brother is receiving from his carer from Home Instead. She knows instinctively what needs to be done.
As I live well over 100 miles away it is really good to know he is being looked after by someone who cares so much. He looks forward to her visits and enjoys the
time when she is there. She always takes the trouble to sit down with him for a chat, encouraging some social interaction. As a family we are extremely grateful to her.

Excellent communication from the office and a willingness to be flexible. Although we have had a number of different carers overall they have all been extremely kind and helpful and the office has worked to maintain as much continuity as possible
Reply from Andrew Senew, Owner at Home Instead (Edinburgh)Thanks for your wonderful feedback and ratings, we know how important continuity is and will keep striving to get that right for you.

Our main caregiver is excellent and very proactive. She has an excellent rapport with Mum. She manages to get through a bundle of work but also to engage with Mum. Continuity of the caregiver is important in keeping things in order. The back office team are helpful and keep me informed of any changes
due to annual or sick leave, etc.
Reply from Andrew Senew, Owner at Home Instead (Edinburgh)Thanks for your wonderful review. Continuity and communication are so important so delighted to hear they're both working well.

From day one, our interaction with Home Instead has been positive and proactive. Care was taken to understand my mother's needs. My mother was hesitant at first, but she quickly warmed to the carers. Even with time in hospital Home Instead have been supportive. Home Instead was recommended to us, and
we have no regrets.
Reply from Andrew Senew, Owner at Home Instead (Edinburgh)Thanks for much for your wonderful 5 Star review, so pleased it's all working so well for you and your mother.

My dementia-stricken Dad has been a client of Home Instead for about 15 months now. We could not be happier with the service both my Dad and our family get from the team.
Nothing is too much trouble. Dad's steady decline has been managed by his two care professionals with sensitivity and understanding.
The continuity of having the same care professionals visiting Dad is hugely important to us. Dad needs that stability and having different people visiting daily would confuse and distress him.
The ease of contacting the team through a named contact (thank you Cara), is so reassuring for us. It isn't just my Dad that is cared for, it's me and my brother too. Service reviews are carried out regularly so we always know that the professionals in care can spot if there is something that can be added or adjusted to make Dads life as easy as it can be.
We really are so happy we chose Home Instead for Dad's care
Reply from Andrew Senew, Owner at Home Instead (Edinburgh)Delighted to hear you are so happy you chose Home Instead for Dad's care.

It is difficult to put into words the difference that Home Instead have made to our lives. Mum's carer is quiet, calm, kind, patient and reliable.. She drinks her tea the way Mum drinks tea which helped form a bond at her first visit. She has gently supported Mum in her mealtime routine and sits and
eats with Mum. It seems like such a simple thing but to us it's huge. This support lifted the weight from my shoulders and improved our relationship with Mum.
I have given an excellent review for all areas. Some parts of the system have taken time to understand and finding a good fit can take time and a bit of trial and error.
Reply from Andrew Senew, Owner at Home Instead (Edinburgh)Thank you for your amazing review, we're just delighted to read how big a difference the service is making to you and your Mum.

We have two live-in care professionals for our Mum and stepfather, who stay with them for a fortnight each during the month. It's taken a bit of time to get into a rhythm with the two ladies but now we have a good system going and they are both very attentive and caring with them. This level of support
gives us, as a family, peace of mind in knowing that our parents are safe and happy. Thank you to the Home Instead office and to our two lovely carers!
Reply from Andrew Senew, Owner at Home Instead (Edinburgh)Thanks so much for your 5 Star Live-in review. Delighted to hear it's working so well, as you say it can take a wee while to get used to but knowing someone is on hand to help must be so reassuring for you.

This service is vital for my Mum as it provides companionship at a time when none of the family are around. Early evenings and weekends are where my Mum requires the service the most and I feel Hominstead have been very flexible with the times and days they provide the service. They have been punctual
and if something inadvertently comes up that delays one of them arrving they always contact me to let me know.

Caregivers have a lovely friendly manner, and are sensitive to needs regarding medications, lotions, meals, dressing etc. They are very thoughtful and supportive, and can adapt companionship activities to the varying energy levels of the client eg walks, sitting in the garden or watching TV. Back up
by office staff is also very efficient and helpful.

My mum really needs so much more help than I am able to provide but I feel very comfortable knowing she has home instead carers going in most days to help her shower and dress and take care of her medical needs
She enjoys seeing the carers very much and has adjusted to them very well
While the
care provided is expensive I think it's a price worth paying for her to be taken care of and to give me peace of mind. As her condition has declined I am seeking further assistance from hone instead to fill the gaps I think that says it all about the service she receives
Thank you for helping us both to all her carers we appreciate everything you do
Reply from Andrew Senew, Owner at Home Instead (Edinburgh)Thanks for your feedback. As you've said, our service is so often about helping family practically and by giving reassurance; as well as supporting the person we visit.

I engaged the services of Home Instead reluctantly after a fall, which made movement painful and difficult. I live alone, and have no close family nearby. From the start I found the staff helpful and empathetic to my needs. They were ready to listen to my concerns, and to give me time to decide how
best to arrange help and support that I could be comfortable with. I can truly say that I have enjoyed and benefitted from their help, and have recovered my strength and independence through their efforts. Thank you all.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.869 for Home Instead (Edinburgh) is calculated as follows: ( (313 Excellents x 5) + (43 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 358 Ratings = 4.869

    The 5 points available are broken down as follows: 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.5 Points for the second and third Positive Reviews, 0.25 Points for each of the next two Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3, 2nd = 0.5, 3rd = 0.5, 4th = 0.25, 5th = 0.25, 6th = 0.05, 7th = 0.05, 8th = 0.05, 9th = 0.05, 10th = 0.05, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025)

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Home Instead (Edinburgh) is based on 60 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
