Home Instead (Edinburgh)

I came to use Home Instead last year, before going into hospital for a hip replacement. My mobility was poor and I needed personal care. I have been very well cared for by my personal carers who have been most kind and helpful to me. Thankful to say, my mobility is much improved and my need for personal care is less but it is good to see a friendly face and good company, so nice to have the same carers every week, I have found everyone most helpful.

Excellent professional caregiving service was provided to my mother. She looks forward to the caregiver visits both of whom are very friendly, hard-working and compassionate and we benefit from the reassurance their visit brings.

Your care person keeps my wife safe, and entertained by chat and she has taken her to the hairdresser allowing me time as a volunteer boat repairer.

I have been very satisfied with the carer. We get on well and she is very helpful and gives good suggestions at times, reminds me of things I may forget!

The support my husband receives is a life saver for all of us. The team have become part of our family. My husband is able to enjoy his days as a result of the support he gets. He looks forward to the time when he goes out.

My wife moved into a care home at fairly short notice in January 2023 and with the family all away I missed having someone to talk to very much. However, our carer who had been with us for a few months was able to spend a proportion of her time in conversation which I found a great help, particularly as she was very well informed on a large number of subjects. I look forward to her visits every week. Sometimes it is necessary to have alternative carers who have all been excellent in every way. If an alternative is required the office always gives as much notice as possible and also if the carer is held up by traffic problems or other causes they will always try to let me know.

All staff have been professional, helpful, kind and courteous with a sense of humour. In a quick time our carer has become a very welcome part of our household. No request is too much trouble. Any changes to the service are promptly notified to us and reasonable alternatives suggested.

Home Instead (Edinburgh) has been providing services for my mother for over a year now I think, I can't really remember as it has just become part of our weekly routine. Communication with the admin staff in the office is excellent and I appreciate the updates and opportunities to talk about how things are going on a regular basis. We appreciate the outings and the shopping that my mother is now able to do more independently with the help of a Home Instead carer and her general wellbeing and mood has improved over the last few months. It gives us peace of mind knowing that my mother is being supported by a professional during the week so that she is able to enjoy her visits with her great-grandson at the weekends. Thank you.

However, that all said we know we have good care in place for our mum at a difficult time in all our lives.

Home Instead is very easy to deal with and is very organised and helpful when discussing what can be difficult issues. They employ good, kind and helpful people who are very reliable. I would recommend them.

My care over the past year has generally been excellent. There have been a few teething problems at weekends due to staff availability, but the office has been helpful in ironing these out generally. However, with personal care required seven days a week, it has meant that by the weekend, any housework needed has had to be done, and two hours are too long on Saturday and Sunday and expensive.

My overall experience as the service user with Home Instead has been exceptional. All office staff are extremely helpful and informative. The caregivers are of a high standard. Home Instead listens to their client's needs and reacts promptly.

This has increased over time and all of the care givers that go in have been fantastic. Her family live a long distance from her and it has been invaluable to know that she is well-supported.
