I found the service provided by Home Instead Senior Care (Edinburgh) to be efficient and friendly throughout my time with them. The management staff were extremely hands on and every request or enquiry was handled quickly and sympathetically. The same went for the carers themselves who were kind and knowledgeable. I had the feeling there was not enough back up for when care staff were absent through illness or emergency but this was handled well and I was never without a carer nor was anyone late for a shift. I would not hesitate to recommend Home Instead Senior Care (Edinburgh) to anyone.
She and I see eye to eye on many subjects and I have the opportunity to get out of the house in my wheelchair which I couldn't do otherwise.
She knows I love wild birds and keeps my bird feeders well topped up and looks after the pots of flowers on my patio.
Without her care and friendship, I'd be very much the loser.
My husband looks forward to and very much enjoys his weekly outings, with his young carer, who selects venues/walks depending on weather etc.
Now it's just my husband who uses the service once a week for three hours.
He is collected from the house, taken for a drive, lunch and home.
We are very satisfied with the service.
It's reliable, totally professional and caring.
We have been using the services of Home Instead Senior Care (Edinburgh) since October 2016. They currently provide a Befriender (Companionship/Home help) twice a week for my husband who is 96. He has mild dementia and very poor mobility since a fall last year and I can’t leave him at home alone for very long. The Befriender is excellent, caring and helpful and his visits allow me to take some time out for myself, safe in the knowledge that my husband is well looked after. The Management is professional, but also friendly and approachable. I am very pleased to have discovered Home Instead Senior Care (Edinburgh) and have already recommended them to friends and acquaintances
It would be very helpful and supportive for my brother if the carer was able to drive. It would let him get out of his home able to visit family. Unsure if email links work with the management.
I have found the service reliable, helpful, friendly and caring for the client. Nothing is too much trouble. Able to liaise with them over all aspects of my mother's care and get feedback if there are problems which get resolved to the satisfaction of all. As she lives at home and has dementia but still able to care for herself in a limited manner, they ensure that everything in the house carries on as if she was doing herself. They also provide company which is a necessity also. They have also helped with the monetary side of the care, ie Social Services; whom they liaised with also. Prompting to take medicine and collection from chemist another necessity. As I do not live nearby, it makes my life a lot easier knowing that her care is managed and carried out in a caring friendly manner.
Home Instead Senior Care (Edinburgh) provide an excellent service for my Dad. The carers are well matched to his needs, he enjoys his time with them and I know he is in safe hands.
The company are very flexible and do everything they can to accommodate changing needs.
I cannot think how any aspect of their service could be improved.
The initial carer was good, quite young but then had to leave for full-time work. The next one was terminated as she did not meet the requirements. The third one was a perfect match for Mum and stayed until the end. Mum enjoyed her visits greatly.
I have been with Home Instead Edinburgh for nearly two months now and have been pleased with the agency. They have provided me with a dedicated carer who is efficient and professional. I have the debilitating illness Inclusion Body Myositis a kind of muscular dystrophy where the leg and arms muscles gradually weaken. Having this condition has meant I need a carer and I have been very pleased with the carer's ability to help appropriately. On the couple of occasions so far where my main carer has not been available a substitute care has been found. Although I have not needed respite care as yet Home Instead will do this on the occasion where my wife has to go somewhere and not been at home to do the caring. I would recommend Home Instead they have a good logging in and out system and the carer has to write in the care book what care was provided on each occasion which I sign. Some home help in the form of dealing with the dishwasher, putting a washing on and ironing are also provided.
The companion carer that my mother in law has visiting once a week has been great and they get on very well. The organisation behind the carer is helpful, flexible and efficient. Our care package is reviewed regularly and Home Instead are easy to contact and respond quickly.
My Mum has been using Home Instead Senior Care for approx 3 years now. She has a befriender that comes in, and depending on how she feels, they will go out or stay in. In the beginning Home Instead worked well with my Mum to find someone they thought would get on well with her. It has been the same person for this whole time and they are great friends now. I always have regular updates from Home Instead, and they always make sure we are happy with the work they do. The office staff are always so friendly and it's wonderful at Christmas and Birthday time to get a card from them! I have never had a problem and would highly recommend them to anyone.
I have found the service extremely valuable. The carer who looks after my mother and takes her out on outings is extremely competent and caring. I would not hesitate in recommending.
I cannot recommend Home Instead highly enough. They have cared for my aunt for 18 months. As her dementia increased they increased her care. They became more than care givers, they became friends and she relied heavily on their care and attention which was given unstintingly. They stayed well past their shift if needed - for example waiting for an ambulance. As I don't live close by they provided a service which I couldn't have done without. They are truly Angels and nothing was too much trouble. If ever anyone needs a care service in Edinburgh Home Instead is the one to choose. Care and caring.
We have been using Home Instead for the past year and have one of their employees visiting my Mum, who suffers from Alzheimers twice weekly. This time off is invaluable for me as I have to juggle being a daily carer, working and managing my own family. The employee is very kind and thoughtful towards my Mum and has a great deal of patience, which is required for 'befriending' Alzheimer sufferers.
Very satisfied with service. Allocated carers have been so kind and so good with my wife.
Having used Home Instead for more than two years I have already recommended them to a number of friends. Their team has always been active support and have provided consistent personal support which makes all the difference. We have three carers covering seven day a week support and two have been with us from day one. They have been tremendous as reliable, professional and dedicated friends and it is no exaggeration to say we rely on them and they have never let us down. Total peace of mind.
My mother uses Home Instead to provide her with household help and some meals. The staff are always on time, courteous, trustworthy and very person centred. They always ask her what she wants them to do and do any tasks well. Most importantly, they respect her and her life experience, listen to her views and act on what she wants. She feels they had the right approach and had good training.
Mum very much enjoys the company of the care giver and looks forward to her visits.
