Mum has had a lovely Carer/Companion visit twice a week since the beginning of the year, as she had a fall & needed help in the weeks afterwards. Mum was initially hesitant for visits as she is fiercely independent, but at 99 years young, she realised it was the best solution to allowing her to stay
at home. Mum has bonded with her well and they have good chats & she helps Mum with the tasks that are now tricky, plus the fun stuff like making marmalade and hanging out the sheets! (Pretty much anything Mum needs done) My brother & I can rest easier knowing that someone kind and caring is visiting twice a week - particularly as we both live far away from Mum. I cannot thank the Carer and the lovely staff at Home Instead for their top notch service and personal care and attention. We would be a bit lost without you all & thanks to you - Mum can enjoy still being in her beloved home as she wants. (Also knowing that visits can be increase is a comfort) Many, many thanks!

The service we get is excellent and provides much needed security for my aunt and her family, particularly as we don't live in the immediate area.


Her regular carer is particularly supportive and Dorothy has formed a strong bond with her.


Communication is good with any changes to care services

Home Instead been providing Carers for my Dad for 8 months now. Dad has Dementia and unfortunately still does not know the regular Carers who have all been very professional and kind.


It is a difficult stage having to take on the responsibility for a parent but Home Instead staff have been very

supportive and have given
helpful ideas. Always get updates and information if any changes to the regular pattern which I appreciate.

I have recently organised Home Instead for some support for my mum. I previously had them to help with my aunt and thought they were great.
Lovely carers who can help with so many things.
Mum is recently diagnosed with dementia and needs support and help at home and her helper has been great at
gaining mums confidence and encouraging her to keep on top of things.

My mother has been using Home Instead for a number of years now. They were initially employed by her husband around five years ago so that she could have a companion to go out shopping etc. Unfortunately, her husband passed away about a year later and her health deteriorated significantly. She has had
many hospital stays over the last four years and throughout this period the assistance provided by her carer/companion has been first class. Her companion takes her out, provides great help throughout her flat and keeps her mentally stimulated. It's a great relief to know that she is in such good hands, of someone that genuinely cares. My only gripe (and I appreciate that Home Instead is a business) is that you have to give two weeks;' notice when you don't think you will need the services of a carer/companion. For example, when my Mother was taken into hospital suddenly and therefore didn't require her companion for a while but is still charged for the next 2 weeks.

Thanks for your feedback and explaining how well the service is working for your parents. I do understand your point about our cancellation policy. The reason we do this is that our care professionals commit to visiting particular clients and their rotas which means we're not able to find them alternative work at short notice. Since introducing this policy it has helped our staff retention rates and consistency of staff for our clients which we know is highly valued. Often when visits are cancelled we can offer hospital visits or some other service so you get value for money.

My mum's carer is thoughtful and caring and my mum really looks forward to her visits. She is very helpful. On the rare days when she has a sub, those carers are always lovely. Home Instead holds regular reviews so I know they are making sure that their standards are being upheld. I know my mum
is safe and being well looked after.

We were talking on Wednesday and realise a particular carer has been supporting my aunt for at least 5 years. As I have always said her support is wonderful she shows empathy care and concern for my aunt. As there are no family living in Edinburgh we are so grateful for her support.

Caregivers from Home Instead have been visiting my elderly father, who has Alzheimers, for a couple of years now. Their visits supplement visits by carers from the local council.
The caregivers from Home Instead chat to my Dad, stimulate him mentally, and just by being there help him to be more active
and alert. They also help with housework, such as laundry, which takes a load off my shoulders. On occasion, the caregivers have taken Dad to routine appointments outside the house when I have been unable to attend.
Before using Home Instead, I found that every time I visited Dad I would have to spend much of the time running around doing domestic tasks. Now, I feel that the time I spend with Dad is much higher quality, becuase I am consistently paying attention to him rather than feeding the washing machine / washing dishes etc.
Each caregiver is different, but they all manage to find common points of interest with Dad.

There have been some staffing difficulties initially however, in a flash these were overcome and tge renaining staff are just fabulous. Honest, reliable, caring, supporting my parents, communication was brilliant on a shift basis, all the way to the Highlands on a daily vases allowing me to continue
to eirk in thus area kniwingvtgat buth mum n dad are safe, secure, cared for fed propertly as per they're wishes, all medications offered at the appropriate time and social interactions spectacular.

The carers who visit my brother are great, and do their best in what can be a difficult situation. They are not always made to feel welcome by my brother, but they are good at keeping cool and getting their tasks done.
Communication with the office is generally excellent.

Very impressed with the quality of care and service provided by your staff. The care worker who looks after my Mum and Dad is brilliant with them, understanding their needs, thinking ahead, organizing transport to their appointments and generally making my life easier!

This experience involved two carers, allowing respite relief for my husband, by making visits am or pm when he was away, over five days. Both carers were very reliable, friendly and approachable, flexible and willing to help. They tackled a variety of ad hoc tasks, around and outside our home, doing

My mother has been enabled to continue to live in her flat with support, three days per week, from the carers at Home Instead. The management is excellent and I am kept informed of any last-minute changes due to carers' ill health, or transport issues etc. My mother is fairly stubborn and has lived
completely independently until a few years ago when a combination of physical health deterioration and poor short-term memory meant I needed to find additional care to augment what she already has. I have been extremely pleased with the care provided. I have met a number of the caregivers during my visits to Edinburgh and they all have seemed very professional and sympathetic. On a few occasions they have raised concerns about my mother and these have always been passed on to me very rapidly. I recommend Home Instead (Edinburgh).

The care our relative/friend has received from Home Instead is excellent. It is a well-managed and organised service with carers, who are both professional in their approach and very caring and encouraging and friendly. The managing staff are willing to pick up on suggestions and requests and provide
a well-managed and reliable professional service.
The change in the person receiving the care has been quite wonderful, since the onset in May 2024.

Dad receives twice-weekly visits and provides companionship and help with shopping and trips. Our carer is very helpful and provides me with regular updates on how Dad is keeping. At all times she is professional and courteous to Dad and myself. I would definitely recommend Home Instead if you are seeking
support for an elderly relative.

Andrew and Joanna live in Portobello (Edinburgh's Seaside) with their 4 year old daughter Iona and their dog Tweed.

Andrew, a qualified accountant, grew up in Edinburgh. Before starting Home Instead he worked in the finance sector and latterly ran his own business. Joanna, who is from Northern Ireland, has lived and worked in Edinburgh for 20 years, latterly as a full-time mum.

"We understand the need for the right sort of care, care that is tailored to the needs of individuals. The way we care for our clients really is different and allows us to make a positive impact on the lives of local people."

Allana’s role is quite varied as she is involved in all aspects of what we do. As our General Manager, Allana helps everyone in the office to make sure that all of our clients and CAREGivers have a great experience during their time with Home Instead. She has worked both in childcare and care of the elderly for 19 years so it’s safe to say she can get along with just about anyone! In her free time, she enjoys photography, gardening, going for long walks and sewing.
