View Full Details of Home Instead (Ilkley, Skipton and Settle)The entire team at Home Instead Ilkley have been utterly amazing in their response this week, to support Mum (88, with dementia), who was discharged (unsafely) by the local NHS hospital after emergency hip surgery. I raised an enquiry for homecare at 7a.m on a Monday morning, a lady called me back at 11.15a.m and could have come out to assess on the Wednesday, which I put back to Friday morning after it became clear Mum would not be discharged until the following Monday. They immediately put in place 4 calls a day and then within 24 hours, also put in place overnight waking nights, as Mum was terribly disturbed and unsettled. Being over 200 miles away they have been incredibly responsive, attentive, and assuring and, in a two-care homecare system, I have to say that you get what you pay for, if you have, or choose, to pay.
My elderly parents started using the service in January 2025 and have been very impressed with all aspects of the care they receive. The staff are very professional and caring. They see the same member of staff at each visit and have enjoyed taking part in the social trips.
Mum enjoys the visits from the Care Providers and looks forward to their coming. The family knows she is being well supported which really gives us peace of mind. The CarePros ensure mum is well and regularly go the extra mile. This happened recently when the village grocery shop suddenly closed and the CarePro, worried about mum, shopped for her on her day off!
Home Instead have been caring for my mother for several years now. In her mid 90s, and to all intents housebound but mentally still very alert, Mum has carers 4 times a day, to help her in all aspects of her life. The carers vary in age and abilities, but they do their utmost to support and understand Mum. When Mum expresses a particular liking for an individual carer she sees them more often. Likewise, if Mum feels she is not on the same wavelength as a carer they appear on her timesheet less often, if at all. From the point of view of myself, and my brothers, we find communicating with the officer team straight forward and we know that if they can help us, or Mum, they will. We have confidence in them. Home Instead is not cheap, but the fact that the carers stay an hour and that we know we can trust them to look after Mum and that she likes them justifies their charges.
Home instead are an excellent care provider. They have supported my Mum with her morning care needs for 4 years. The care givers are all friendly, respectful and helpful. They also provide additional care when needed as a companion taking her out for lunch, coffee and shopping. All the office staff are extremely helpful and always do their utmost to accommodate any additional requests. I highly recommend Home instead in Ilkley.
There is always a willingness to try and accommodate changes to the care provided and to try and ensure the care giver is a good fit to the client. It's good to have real people at the other end of the phone who are helpful and will try to resolve any issues. An urgent requirement to substantially increase the amount of support needed has been dealt with exceptionally well, especially with the extremely tight timescales given. On the whole, extremely satisfied.
Home care provide good and fair service. The care workers can provide patient companionship , self care help to tasks like shopping and some cleaning duties which is a great help to families who work when a family member needs daily support. They have a knowledge of dementia care which is support to our family and our mum who can be challenging at times. If you have any issues they are always happy to listen and act on which is important as the she deteriorates and her behaviour changes.
Friendly pleasant and efficient staff. Very engaging with great empathy. Good timekeeping, excellent relationship with my partner, who has Parkinson's and Lewy Body dementia. Highly regarded.
I only use Home Instead for a couple of hours for companionship for my husband while I am out. The carer takes him for a short walk and gives lunch. Generally works very well and gives me piece of mind. We have now had same carer for some months which is good for my husband to have the continuity.
I have been very impressed with the service provided. We have 3 different carers for my mother and she loves them all. They are prompt, polite and friendly. The office staff are also great and took great care to match the carers to my mother.
I've been using Home Instead for just over a year now to support my father. I found the team to be very supportive and responsive to our needs, especially as those needs tend to change over time. They've taken care to find a good match of people to support my father which means that I can relax on those days knowing that he's in good hands. We've also been well looked after when it comes to changing schedules, as we often use Home Instead for daily visits when my mother goes away. All in all, I'm really glad to have them supporting me and my family.
The carers constantly go above and beyond in supporting my sisters and I with the challenging circumstances we find ourselves in with both parents suffering from dementia. Genuinely, they care, and nothing really is too much trouble. They respond as if family. We couldn't do without the services of Home Instead in Ilkley.
The staff are always very cheerful, friendly and so helpful. They come to help my father twice a day for an hour at a time - preparing his meals and medication and help with personal care and any jobs that need doing. I liaise with the staff in the office and they are quick to contact me if they have any concerns and to update changes to medication. The communication between all staff and my father and our family is excellent.
Not living in Britain, I am grateful that mum is in such good hands. Her carers help her with anything she needs and now her short-term memory is not what it used to be, they have various regular tasks in their mobile data. I phone mum every day and am always pleased to hear how satisfied she is with the standard of her care. Thank you girls, you are much appreciated.
We're very happy with the care my dad is receiving. The carers are all lovely and Dad sees the same ones regularly which he likes and he gets on well with them all. Likewise, the office staff are all really helpful and friendly. Dad particularly enjoys the social events, including cinema visits, games afternoons, fish and chip lunches, where he gets to socialise with other people his age. Overall, very happy to recommend Home Instead Ilkley.
This review covers my experience with Home Instead since I started, 2 years ago. I do have fairly limited demands upon the service and I do understand its limitations. The staff are excellent.
I have now been using Home Instead for over 2 years to help with care of my 91 year old Dad. Throughout they have been exceptional in the services they have provided. The regular reviews have helped tailor the care that is provided to his specific needs. They have been flexible, friendly and efficient.
The quality of care that Home Instead provide my father is very good. He especially enjoys their ability to take him out and about, such as to the park of the local village, which he would not be able to do without them.
The Home Instead staff are helping me to look after my father in a friendly and kind way. The extra events are lovely opportunities for him to socialise in a supportive environment and are much appreciated!
We approached Home Instead earlier this year, just for some initial support and to get home visits started with a reputable organisation that my parents would accept and trust in their home. We have started with some very generic support, for a couple of hours each week. The team are lovely and incredibly responsive, to the point we have been able to increase visits when needed due to illness.
