View Full Details of Hallam24 HealthcareThis review is for the past 12 months. The standard of "care" has dropped to below ground level for this company. Complaints are not dealt with in the manner for which intended and standard excuses are given out every time. The so-called management seems to cover their own rear ends and employ some "carers" who don't even know how to put bread in a toaster. The only good thing is punctuality, but that is only because of the influx of international people to cover calls so the money keeps flowing in, without the proper training to cover the Care Act 2014, something this company should read up on and digest in full. I would suggest to users (the people who actually employ this company not the other way around) that you deal with them as little as possible over the phone as this is where they twist what was actually said on the phone. No doubt the reply on here will be the usual gaslighting. Get FOI's from Social Services!
I'm not really happy with the service provided by Hallam24 Healthcare. Although the carers were reasonably good, my mother did not receive the care that was promised at her initial assessment. Due to severe dementia, we were promised no more than 4 different carers per week, at specific times. This didn't happen, the times of the calls differed and sometimes there were 11 different carers in a week. This caused much confusion and she became really anxious. My mother is also afraid of male carers and didn't like them doing personal care but Hallam24 stated they could not promise female carers. The language barrier was also a problem as my mother could not understand what the carers were saying to her. There was very little conversation/interaction with my mother and they sat in the kitchen on their visits. (5 times daily). However, after 4 months of my constant complaints to Hallam24 Healthcare and a meeting with the area manager, my concerns were addressed, the service did improve and the care was much more consistent.
If you like your carers to turn up at whatever time they please (if at all), have PPE and cigarette butts thrown all over your garden and driveway, cutlery and crockery unwashed and put back in the cupboards dirty, the wrong incontinence pads used leading to soaked bedding, illnesses ignored and lie after lie from both the staff and management then this is the care company for you. I wouldn't let Hallam24 look after my goldfish! Thankfully, my parent has now moved to a wonderful company whose staff treat her with the respect, dignity and care that she deserves. It's a shame I can't give minus stars because this company does not even come close to scoring any. One of the worst experiences of our lives.
Our 98-year-old father receives wonderful care. His carers are professional, caring, punctual and totally spoil him. Our family are more than happy, more importantly, he is happy and looks forward to their visits. We would recommend Hallam24 Healthcare to anyone. Nothing is too much trouble.
I’m so sad to be writing this review. Firstly I would like to thank all the wonderful staff that has looked after me during the worst time in my life. I’ll be honest at 53 years old I wasn’t very happy that I would be in a position to be needing carers but four of my carers made it a lot easier they are wonderful people. However, after complaining about not having carers turn up, complaining to their governing body the CQC (who are now investigating my complaint) which also includes one carer thinking that I was asleep so saying in the logbook she’d done her job but was actually only in the house less than two minutes. No phone calls to tell you you were not getting a carer, being told by the new management that I’d had a carer and turned them away on one occasion ( I have CCTV) so I told them I’d complained on Monday and guess what on the Wednesday, I was off their books. So think twice, the girls are fab, management is ruthless.
Since Mum came out of hospital on Friday 2nd July after being treated for Covid the staff have been fantastic, they have been so caring, patient and tentative towards Mum as she had lost all function to be able to brush her teeth, wash, brush her hair, get dressed, prepare breakfast or even her usual 2 hourly warm drink she used to make herself and get out of her chair due to Covid fatigue. Each day she has got stronger and required less intervention from the ladies and today although it was 3 am she managed to get herself up and downstairs, make her breakfast and drink and eat it all and even wash her pots. This is due to the dedication of the team to get her to remember the function that she had before she went into hospital. As a family, we are very grateful and we couldn't have cared for Mum in-between visits without their support. Thank you
Only been with Hallam24 for a couple of weeks but up to now, it’s been a positive experience. With any change of provider, teething problems are expected, but I feel that both the management and care staff have done their best to help the transition for my parents, who both have dementia, to run as smoothly as possible. I’ve not met all the carers as yet but the ones I have met have been enthusiastic, kind and friendly. Two particular carers who work really well together have touched my heart showing such kindness and empathy towards my parents especially my dad, who in a moment of confusion, they calmed and comforted him when I couldn’t be there, this is what I call caring. Keep up the good work!
Unfortunately, our experience with Hallam 24 has been dreadful. Whilst the ladies who visit are kind and considerate the arrival times for care are ridiculous. We have spoken to Hallam 24 on a regular basis, they keep assuring us they can and will meet with our requested times but so far over a period of 6 months, they have arrived on time on very few occasions, consistently arriving between 1 1/2 to 2 hours late which causes great distress to my fragile mother in law. The communication between management and carers is dreadful, we have lost all confidence in the company. We have complained many times to both Hallam 24 and the Council but are getting nowhere. Today the carers will be over 3 hours late which was not communicated to us to allow for alternative arrangements, we had to call them. They are dealing with elderly and vulnerable people and as a family, we are very concerned about ongoing issues plus lack of communication between management and staff.
The ladies are pleasant, friendly and on the whole, do a good job. However, timings are rubbish. I fully understand personnel letting you down at short notice, but inconsistency in time is frustrating, to say the least. Please ask all carer to telephone/text if going to be 15-mins late. An hour/two hours is not acceptable.
From the first visit, all my husband's carers, I found, were caring and treated him with the care and dignity required. Nothing was too much trouble and we found them very helpful. He looked forward to their visits and enjoyed the chats which, in his condition, (end of life) were excellent. I cannot praise them enough for all their work and the unsociable hours they worked - they need a medal.
Hallam 24 have provided care for my parents for the past 14 months. They have been so caring and considerate and extremely respectful. They have at times done little more than check in on them and had a chat with them as they were both trying to maintain a degree of independence, but the reassurance that they were visited 3 times a day was invaluable. Both my sister and I live a distance away and we have felt very confident that if there were any concerns the carers would contact us. Having the same 3-4 carers on a regular basis meant that my parents were familiar with them and although they may not have remembered their names they always appeared to enjoy their calls. Sadly the care package finished this week with the sudden passing of my Dad, but again at this very stressful and difficult time, they were there for my mum and also were very supportive of me. A very heartfelt thank you.
My mum is receiving care from this company. I can not be any happier as my mum is so happy with two of your staff who go above and beyond and deserve recognition. My mum is not an easy patient to please, but Mum's two regular carers are like two angels with her. She speaks very highly of them.
Fantastic caring team... really pleased with how they look after and care for my mum with respect and dignity. They are doing a brilliant job and would highly recommend them to care for loved ones. Can’t praise them enough.
Since transferring my mum to Hallam24 from her previous care provider, I have had no problem whatsoever. The staff work as a great team together and always ensure my mums best interests come 1st. I have also seen a significant improvement in the care my mum receives from the team. Her moods have improved dramatically since moving to Hallam24 Healthcare. The team are a real credit to Hallam24 Healthcare, nothing is ever too much. Thank you all.
I couldn't praise your carers enough, so thoughtful and caring. A real credit to Hallam24 Healthcare.
Very caring, very efficient, making a difficult situation a lot easier. Thank you.
We have appreciated having the same carers most days. All the staff have been very supportive of my mum, but she has been able to build warm relationships with her main carers, and looks forward to seeing them each day. My mum is quite frail and finds communication difficult, but she obviously feels safe and is smiley when the carers come. The carers are usually quite punctual - we know when to expect them and they will tailor their calls to fit in with hospital appointments. For me, they are a second port of call, from whom I can get an opinion when I am worried about my mum as well as helping with all the practicalities of caring for her.
The carers that attend my husband are caring and show him respect and dignity. They also show the rest of the family respect. Anything you ask them to do is no trouble.
Good.
