View Full Details of Home Instead (Lewes District & Uckfield)The service has been very good. Contact has been prompt and the service very professional.
Home Instead have been coming to my mother twice a day since April. They are vital to my mother's independence and safety. The carers are compassionate and willing to go the extra mile. My mother particularly likes the same person, where possible, coming. They build up a trust and friendship.
Home Instead cared for my husband for over nine months. A small number of people looked after him, each well-trained, thoughtful, and above all cheerful. They got to know what my husband liked to do, walked with him to his favourite cafe, cared for him and improved the quality of his life. When there was an emergency they did everything they could to help. I am completely grateful to them for their kind and generous care which extended to the way they treated me,
My wife has had a positive service from Home Instead since it started in March 2025. She has been accompanied to and from a weekly choir she likes to attend and from a well being in nature group she also likes to attend. With the latter there was a blip at the beginning because my wife would leave the group early and miss the carer picking her up, which was resolved eventually by the carer staying with her for the group and accompanying her home, which worked well, as did having an older carer accompanying her. My wife was not against having a younger carer but found it easier to relate to an older carer and has definitely clicked with her and has achieved a warm relationship which has been beneficial to her and me. During review discussions with senior staff I have found them very supportive, understanding and flexible and appreciated and learnt from the good advice given. Thanks for your support which has enabled me to have breaks and keep in touch with friends.
Home Instead and their Care Professionals (CP) transformed my Aunt's quality of life in the last 6 months living at home. All of the CPs were kind, compassionate, practical and most importantly offered my Aunt company and made her laugh, something my Aunt loved to do. As the organiser of my Aunt's care I found Home Instead not only a pleasure to deal with they were quick to adapt their approach as my Aunt's needs changed. Just a shame that this care in the home couldn't have gone on for a bit longer! Keep up the good work - you do make a huge difference. Thank you.
General difficulty with caring as a profession, is how to further client's improvement, ie a bit of encouraging, prompting, whilst still being caring. Some carers seem to do too much for my husband, ie dressing, undressing, washing, standing up, encouraging him unintentionally to be a bit passive & hindering progress. A difficult balance. Also, most cut short time with him, because of lack of time to motor to next client & some spend up to 1/4 hours writing up the notes, which could cut time short with the client.
Home Instead Lewes come three morning a week to help my elderly father. His carer arrives always on time and is always cheerful and is a great support to both my mother and father. I would highly recommend them.
Really impressed with the carers who both turn up on time and provide care to my mother in a confident and caring way. Not only are they helping my mother with managing her personal care but they have built up a positive relationship which is also providing emotional support. So far it's been brilliant and we are now going to increase the care visits from 2 visits a week to 4 visits a week. I really think Home Instead have a good approach for people living with dementia.
Home Instead provides support for our mum twice a day. The team who visit are kind and patient and professional. The office staff are always prompt to offer any additional support and to sort out any queries. Mum has had care from Home Instead for a while now and is most appreciative of her visits when the caregivers are consistent and really get to know her.
Very professional from the outset. They knew exactly how to support Dad and everything is going extremely well. It's interesting how firms have the same CQC ratings but are miles apart. Home Instead Lewes are by far the best care provider in the area.
Home Instead is providing a really excellent service for us. From the initial visit to set up my husband's care package, we have been very impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of everyone involved. The carers arrive on time every day and each one is excellent at providing the exact care which we need. They are also calm, helpful and polite and are always to advise and discuss any issues or concerns which may arise.
I am very happy with the care my mum receives from Home Instead. All the carers are kind, and efficient and treat Mum with respect. The service is extremely flexible and I have been able to make changes over time to suit Mum's changing needs. I have found the management very easy to communicate with. They listen and respond to any concerns. I know that Mum is in safe hands and well looked after which is incredibly reassuring.
One member of staff in particular came for my wife's four hour time without me as another member of staff is away this week. She was well looked after and was taken round the garden and offered lunch. When I returned there was time for the particular member of staff to complete her review saving another visit in a week or two. She completed this well and we look forward to the continuing visits of your carers.

Excellent.
Home Instead visit my dad, who has mild Alzheimer’s, twice a week to help with his housework and shopping and for some company. They are reliable and efficient, and all the carers are kind and helpful. I can increase the care if I need to, and it gives me peace of mind knowing these basic things are looked after so that when I visit, we can go out and do something nice, and I don’t have to do the chores. They also brought him to visit me when I couldn’t drive for a few weeks, which was such a relief. They always communicate any slight changes, and I thoroughly recommend them.
The care for my Mum has been great, always considering what’s best and that will make her life more safe and comfortable. Good communication. Good feed back on all aspects of care and what is needed for the future for Mum.

The carers are very competent and work with a sensitive and caring attitude towards my mother. They are able to be flexible according to my mother’s needs on a daily basis.
We started with the service in early April have had regular weekly visits since then which have also involved trips to the local farm shop. Visitors have engaged with my sister despite the fact that she cannot converse with them. The feedback we get has been very reassuring.
Our family is very grateful for the excellent service that Home Instead has provided for my mum in the last 1.5 years. This has helped us function as a unit without compromising our quality of life as carers within the household. I was especially impressed with one lady who came for a scheduled review of the service and was able to adapt the service for the changing need we now have at present. This was done professionally and reassuringly, and the transition to extended care would be easily facilitated.
