View Full Details of Home Instead South LakesMy initial online request for care was responded to quickly with a phone call which enabled questions to be asked and gave clarity for the way forward. This was followed up with a helpful and friendly care consultation which led to the placement of a carer who was carefully and thoughtfully matched to my mum. I knew when I drove off for the weekend away that I was leaving my mum in safe, kind, experienced, and capable hands, which meant I could go without being anxious or worried about her care. My mum's carer was kind, caring, thoughtful, and took excellent care of my mum over the weekend and my mum enjoyed the weekend with her. She went above and beyond what was expected. When I returned home I found that she had very kindly and thoughtfully done laundry and ironing. I cannot say how grateful I am for the high quality of care that my mum received and for the clear, friendly, understanding and helpful communication and contact that I had with the Home Instead South Lakes team.
We've been so grateful for the companion care Home Instead provides for my step-mum, Joan. It has made a huge difference in her life keeping her active, engaged, and supported. Sophie has been wonderful, taking Joan out, spending quality time with her, and helping her stay independent. The evening care, including help at bedtime, has also been a big support. It has not only helped Joan, but also given my dad some much-needed free time and peace of mind, knowing she is in such capable hands. The team is kind, compassionate, professional, and very reliable. Their support has made such a positive impact on both Joan and my dad's daily life.
Home Instead were introduced to us when Mum needed palliative care. At this very fragile time when we knew very little about the care process, Mum's Team guided us, supported us & cared for Mum with the utmost professionalism. The Team worked with us in caring for Mum at home, as was her wish. During the 4.5 years of Home Instead care, the Team continued to care for Mum, even when she was bed bound, with humour, encouragement, sharing Mum's memories, hobbies & introducing her to new ones, spending time & showing genuine interest. They were proactive in suggesting equipment & products that would help in Mum's day to day care. The office team were great at helping navigate outside agencies, guiding us & ensuring the best care for Mum. In the final few days of Mum's life, the Team were amazing, going well above & beyond in looking after Mum & us, flexing the care as her needs required. We would happily recommend Home Instead as care professionals, we began to see them as extended family.
I have had experience of the care provided by Home Instead South Lakes for the past 3 years as my Mother's dementia progressed. Initially for companionship carers right through to end of life care. The care provided has been simply exemplary. The care professionals have all been fantastic, with interesting activities art/cooking/outings planned for each day which helped to delay her cognitive decline. When my Mum's condition progressed to palliative care, the support from the team helped me navigate a complicated system to allow my Mum to be at home, with end of life care provided by carers that she knew. I would recommend Home Instead South Lakes unreservedly.
My mum has been receiving companionship support for a year now & I could never have imagined the experience working out as well as it has. Mum (& I) adores her care professionals & she regards them as friends, new friends that stimulate and support her, giving her the practical and emotional help that is invaluable to her and us as a family. She has missed seeing her old friends since COVID & seeing them now is difficult to organise as she ages; HI have helped with that by either enabling a visit to see them, or just by being her new companions that have been carefully selected for her. I am so happy that we have not left getting this first stage of care too late. She has such a fantastic relationship with her team now, that as her dementia progresses & her mobility deteriorates she will trust them & not feel any loss of dignity that she was so worried about, when we had the 1st meeting. I know they will do everything to support keeping her at home for as long as needed.
As a family we are absolutely delighted with the care our mum is receiving. From the caregivers and office staff to the excellent communication via the app we have been able to relax and have trust in all the care mum is receiving.
When we were looking for care providers for my 91 year old mum, we were recommended to Home Instead. From the very first contact to saying farewell to the Home Instead team when mum moved on to hospita,l they were caring, professional and very straight forward to deal with. The carers on the ground were fantastic. Mum loved having them to help her get up and organised in the morning and to bed in the evening. They were a credit to Home Instead and their caring, kind and professional attitude was also reflected throughout the organisation with all people we contacted. I would strongly recommend them.
We are over the moon about the service we have received from Home Instead South Lakes. My dad was very resistant to having anyone other than family coming into his home but as my brother and I live/work away during the week we wanted the reassurance of having someone pop in during the weekdays, giving him a bit of company and taking him out for a short walk. My dad now really appreciates his visits and has made really good relationships with the staff, especially with those he sees most regularly.
Home Instead have provided great care for my uncle for several years. They go above and beyond to make sure he is looked after well. They set my mind at rest with excellent communication and proactively suggest many helpful ideas to improve my uncle's quality of life. I recommend them very highly.
Home Instead were excellent at supporting my 95-year old mum to live in her own home until she chose to move to live with her family. The team of carers were great companions for Mum, always helpful and considerate, and she will miss them. The office kept us well informed of any issues, and the regular reports were very useful.
Home Instead has been great to deal with and very helpful in setting things up within a short space of time. And the quality of the care provided has been excellent. The staff in the office were a pleasure to deal with and very helpful.
Home Instead have provided a fantastic service for my mum who has advanced dementia. The carers were all well trained and my mum loved being with them. They worked well as a team around my mum, were responsive to her changing needs and were always there if we had any concerns. An extremely supportive and person-centred approach. We had used other care providers and Home Instead were definitely the best. Thank you to the whole team
Exceptional service provided by all carers. Nearly always on time and usually advise if running late. Always bright and cheerful. Office staff always have time for queries and support. We now have close relationships with our carers.
The Care Professionals of Home Instead are totally reliable in terms of their attendance and punctuality, and the elderly gentleman client, who lives alone and suffers from dementia, feels the warmth of their friendliness and companionship twice a day. They have displayed initiative and flexibility in going the extra mile, literally, when during recent heavy snow, one of the Home Instead team walked a couple of miles from the village to the client and back to ensure a visit took place and medicines were given. They have been able to deal professionally and competently with unexpected personal ‘accidents’ in the house. They are accurate in the dispensing and recording of medicines and display cheerfulness and capability in all that they do for him. The client has no next of kin and enjoys the company of the small team and that they have time to chat. He welcomes them into his home and is far more alert and active than with the previous care company. The change has been very beneficial.
Home Instead have been visiting my elderly mum since June of last year. She has significant memory difficulties and has been struggling on her own. The home carers have been brilliant with her, have built great working relationships, offered lots of practical support but importantly been a source of companionship as my mum loves a chat and a cup of tea with someone who knows the local area and can share ideas and local news. I really appreciate the initiative and drive the team have, they seem to just get it in terms of what helps my mum. I like the app also as I can look and see what's going on and who has visited. It would be great for relatives to be able to message into the app also, to pass on day-to-day concerns. So all in all a quality service with personality and humour on top. I would recommend it to those looking for homecare as I appreciate it's a tricky market and there is natural anxiety to choose the right service for your relative.
I feel so fortunate to have telephoned Home Instead when it became obvious that my mother would need assistance after a stay in hospital. The help and guidance of such professional and caring people have made the difficult transition from her total independence to accepting care easy. It makes such a difference knowing that her personal hygiene is being attended to daily and that she is happy to see a friendly face each morning. Her apartment is also looking/feeling much better with a daily dose of attention - such a difference and relief for us when we call to visit. We are all very grateful to all the Team at Home Instead they are a pleasure to work with.
The Home Instead team have proven themselves to be both efficient and friendly in establishing care needs on short notice when required. The communication flow between the team and myself (and my mum) is effective and clear in addressing any issues that transpire. The care team are friendly and reliable and makes good use of the time they spend with Mum.
Really wonderful, caring service both for my elderly aunt who really bonded with her carers and for me whenever I had any dealing with the staff at Home Instead. The carers were extremely kind and compassionate and always treated my aunt with dignity and respect, and she enjoyed the time they spent with her and their friendship. Sadly my aunt was recently admitted into hospital where she passed away, but Home Instead have maintained contact with me and has been very caring which I have very much appreciated. It was a great comfort for me to know that my aunt received such excellent care in her last few months.
Wonderful experience throughout. Staff really took the time to listen and find out what would be helpful for Mum. The carers who are now looking after her are fantastic and the ability to keep track of how Mum is doing on a daily basis is a godsend for me and my sisters. It is nice to know she is being so well taken care of when we cannot always be there.
I cannot praise nor thank Home Instead enough. My beloved eighty-year-old wife’s Alzheimers led to advanced physical decline and, worse, to increasing mental and behavioural difficulties with mood swings from charming to hostile. Over 16 months, every one of their carers looked after her, initially for a dozen hours a week and ultimately, providing overnight care support with professionalism, patience, dignity, courtesy, compassion, kindliness and friendship. Making hundreds of car journeys along narrow lanes to our secluded home, the carers were on time every time. Great service, with love and a smile!
