View Full Details of Herts at HomeMy brother in law, who has learning difficulties, restricted mobility and a number of health conditions is very happy and content living at Lea Springs. He feels well supported and safe. The care team are friendly and he has built a nice rapport with them. It's a big relief knowing there is on hand attention if needed. The team are very flexible when asked to get him ready for early medical appointments. It sometimes feels rather frustrating though to navigate the many restrictions placed on the care team about what they can and cannot deal with if there is a change in my brother in laws usual routine. I'd like to see comments added to the billing documents, to help us understand why some of the care team go over the allotted times as part of his flexi care package. If the care giving is under the allotted time, billing is still charged in full with any extra time charged in 15 minutes slots, irrespective of how many minutes the carer has gone over. Overall though, very satisfied. .
This is a review for the Herts at Home team at Lea Springs in Harpenden, who provide bespoke care packages commissioned by the local authority social services. I'm very impressed with the support my elderly father receives. They look after him well, assisting with medication, meal preparation and other aspects of personal care. The whole operation is managed professionally. The staff are kind and genuinely care about residents. It's also reassuring to know they're on hand 24/7 to help in an emergency. Important note - Herts at Home only provides personal care. If you need assistance with household tasks, shopping, trips out, etc, then look for a local home help provider.
An excellent service at the extra care housing (not community service). The team are amazing - kind, considerate, anticipate needs, they go the extra mile to make sure residents are happy and settled and that this really is home. They offer choices, the staff are so respectful and put residents first. The care is the best I have ever seen. The team at the extra care housing are superb.
Herts at home have been caring for my husband for almost a year. They constantly exceed my expectations of the care they offer, given that my husband suffers from Alzheimer's dementia. He has a good rapport with all of the carers who do their utmost to try keep him in a positive frame of mind. It is comforting and reassuring for myself and other family members to know, that Herts at home are supporting him on his dementia journey.
Very good service provided for my mum who has dementia. Staff are caring & happy and always have my mum's best interests. They take the strain off me! - always there to listen if I have any concerns. They attend 3 times a day to give her medication, make her lunch & then in the evening make her tea. Always inform me if they have any concerns. They give her lots of encouragement & always have a good chat - that makes her happy
From the complete shock of upset of finding myself temporarily incontinent, I have been treated with the utmost respect, care and encouragement to mobilise and remain positive. Supported by my 3 sisters, constant washing of soiled pyjamas and bedding had called a lot of stress initially, but with the assistance of all the care team, we now have organised this such that my sister no longer have to visit daily. At all times, our care coordinator (Neil) has been in constant of available contact to ensure my care quality is excellent!
My mum is very lucky to have the support on offer at Lea Springs. Everyone I have dealt with have been very kind and patient with her. I am not sure it is sufficient care as there are lots of restrictions on what they are permitted to do in terms of food prep, and they are understandably very restricted with their time. Mum is as happy as she can be, and they do all they are allowed to facilitate her assisted living.
All the carers are friendly, nice and caring people. I don't know how I would manage without the support and help I get from this service. Things that could be improved: A standardised level of care. One of our carers regularly completes all the items requested on the app., to a very high standard, within the half hour time slot. Others, do less but stay longer on occasion up to a hour! This costs more and isn't necessary. Please would all carers sign out before sitting and chatting. I read all the notes referring to my husband. Please ask carers to be honest when writing their notes. Personally for me. My husband's disability has changed our lives completely. I would not choose to be in the position of being his 24/7 carer. I appreciate the carers who are sympathetic and show respect to me.
Herts at Home are fabulous! We were initially nervous as it was all new to us. Staff came out to assess and was so kind, the carers are great. They've given us not only a physical break but a mental break too. Everything runs like clockwork, carers call us if concerned / we need to do something like doctors etc.
All the carers are fantastic with mum always make her smile and laugh which I find very comforting always very carering and kind. I trust all the carers mum has and also the management is also very compatinate and caring. I can not fault any of team Thanks to all of you for everything you do.
My mum has been cared for by Herts at home for a while now.The carers are all so kind and she has built up a lovely bond with them all. Without the care they provide we would not be able to keep my mum safe in her own home.
The manager and the team did a fabulous job of looking after my Auntie. Nothing was too much trouble including keeping us informed of hospital admissions etc. As a family who lived a fair distance away from her this was such a comfort for us to be able to find out how she was when we could no longer keep in touch directly. They really did go over and above what was expected of them for which we are truly grateful.
Experience with all carers very good, some exceptional. All friendly and competent.
This relates to Herts at Home for one of their flexi care schemes. Most the staff care about their clients shame some let the service down managers just worry about the money and don't really care if you need help at night time has a carer on site but can't really do much.
I work with a resident at Lea Springs since he moved in in 2022. I have been working with him in the capacity of a Creative and autism practitioner as my client is autistic. It is a pleasure to work alongside the team at Herts at Home. They have been instrumental in helping to ensure my clients wellbeing is at the centre of their support whenever possible. This can be difficult at times as my client is autistic and therefore can be difficult to understand. To enable a person centred approach I regularly liaise with the Herts at home team to ensure we minimise misunderstandings and are focused on his needs. This is especially useful if my client develops a urine infection, or any other problem as it impacts his behaviour and responses therefore this professional relationship is appreciated.
The care team and their manager were amazing during the Xmas period whist my parent was very poorly. They went above and beyond keeping a closer eye on them monitoring regularly I truly believe that their dedication is the reason that we never lost the most precious person in our family and for that I will be forever grateful. The whole care team are brilliant they do a great job and the support the manager has given to me has kept me going. Thank you all so much.
Mum is very pleased with her care. They treat her really well and are helpful and friendly at all times.
Mum has been in a care home for a couple of years now. She loves the place. The care team look after her very well, always makes time to talk to her, always cleans up after her, makes sure she's fed and always has a drink with her. Whenever I see her she always says what a lovely bunch the staff are. The team always lets me know if there's an issue or she needs something. I like the way they try to encourage her to take part in anything going on in the community lounge. Her health is always looked after as the team will liaise with the doctors/medical teams. I cannot fault anything, continue the good work it's much appreciated.
The manager and her staff are not only very professional by polite, warm, caring and a privilege to have to look after my sister. She has nothing but great praise for them and they do more than required to assist and make her life better.
The care and support for mum has been outstanding. Working closely with family i.e. myself to keep regular updates on Mum's needs which are all being met by all staff involved. Mum struggles daily and nothing has been too much for all the staff involved.
