My father-in-law had Helping Hands coming in to see him for about 4 months, from November 2024 to February 2025, after he was discharged from Rehab. Firstly we had very little notice that he was being discharged but this didn't phase Helping Hands and they managed to set up a care package and start visiting my father-in-law within 48hrs. All of the carers treated him with dignity and respect, Encouraged him to help himself and helped him to gain his confidence back after being unable to walk for weeks. They helped him with his personal care, to prepare meals and drinks and assist him with his medication. They gave us total confidence that he was being looked after and supported that we even managed to have some time away, which we hadn't been able to do for over 3 years.
The carers have been coming in to me for over a year and when I wanted to increase my visits from 1 to 3 it happened straight away. They do take care of all my domestic needs really well supporting me with domestic and personal needs. When they do my shopping they will also go and do the extra bits like sorting my hearing aids and watch batteries. Nothing is too much trouble they allow me to stay at home and I look forward to their visits
Helping Hands have been fantastic in helping our family member, who has dementia, live a safe and dignified life at home. We couldn't manage without them. They help us with daily care calls as well as transport and accompaniment for additional health appointments, a weekly shopping visit, and support with social trips too. The office staff are fantastic, always responding quickly and doing what they can to help us. The carers are excellent. They're always kind and patient, and make sure to pass on anything they notice either with our family member or around the house, noting things like changes in mood, any repairs that need doing, etc. Can't thank the staff enough and we're very grateful to them!
I have been using Helping Hands for several months They provide domestic Help and companionship. I find they go the extra mile and always willing to support me in any way they can. They clean my house like it was theirs They are always friendly and polite and give me a real sense of support and security.
My wife has had Alzheimer's for the last five years, and in that time has broken her wrist and had a stroke debilitating her left side. She is bed bound and for the last 3 years Letchworth Helping Hands have visited her 3 times a day, without fail, tending to all her needs. Their Carers are always cheerful, competent and patient dealing with her very variable moods. They have also provided a respite sitting service, allowing me free time, during which they both keep my wife company and look after my small home doing the cleaning, washing ironing and other household chores. I couldn't cope without their support.
I have been with helping hands for over 2 years, I use this service for companionship and to support me out in the community and to any appointments I may need help with. I have been enjoying going out and going to the garden centre also shopping and help with gardening and visiting friends. I look foward to my weekly visits and enjoy them very much, my family do not live close by so this gives me a good opportunity to get out and be independent. I also know if I need any extra help that the service is always here for me to support me if my circumstances change.
I have been using the Helping Hands service since January 2025 after my release from Hospital, and I have found it to be great for me. I was very wary of having a stranger helping me have a shower, but I was soon put at ease. I have not had any issues with any of the staff that have been sent over to assist me and look after me when I have a shower. I have had 4 different carers in the weeks/months that I have been using the service, both male and female and all have been very professional.and could not do enough for me. I would recommend their services.
Contacted Helping Hands Home Care (Letchworth) to discuss care for my mother, this was on a short-term basis, but with the possibility that flexibility for longer-term care may be needed. The manager was extremely helpful, listened to what we required and was accomodating of our requests. Carers were very professional and caring, this was very important as it was the first time my mother had required carers and was naturally apprehensive. Following this positive experience I would not hesitate to use Helping Hands again if required.
Some of the carers are friendly, helpful and work hard, but others less so. Some have better cleaning and ironing and household skills than others. I have not been made aware of any system to report back to me about visits to my parents.
I find Helping Hands reliable and always turn up within the stated time frame. All the carers are friendly and considerate of what I need to help me. I like that new staff members shadow another carer so that they have a good indication of what to do if they are scheduled on my rota. The office staff are available if I have any issues and are efficient and friendly too.
I am very happy with my carer, she is lovely and very helpful. I have had a good experience with Helping Hands so far.
I rely on Helping Hands to take care of my wife while I carry out tasks of a wide variety. So far it has worked very efficiently.
My life in a nutshell - I am 96 years old, a widower, with a physical disability which broadly affects my mobility. I was away from home for 8 weeks due to illness. Eventually, I would come home to face nothing but deadly silence and emotional loneliness. However, my family have been very busy they have found an organisation called Helping Hands. It was December 2019 they offered daily visits. They give me help, they turned my life around. Today they are my second family called Helping Hands.
