Hi, I’m Andrew the Managing Director and I have worked within the company for over 20 years. There have been a lot of changes in health and social care over the years but, I’m proud to say that NCCN has always been a leader in the field. Our success is based purely on the excellent people that we employ and the dedication, care and commitment that they give to our Service Users.
The company was started by my Mother, Mary who was a Nurse she is retired now but the values and philosophy that she started the business with are still strong in the Management team's minds. I joined the company after completing my degree in Business Management at Newcastle and then my Post Grad Diploma in HR. I helped with our first major acquisition - Jays Home Care in Pocklington, in 2002 - we still have some staff who transferred from Jays working with us now!
I’m also a Director of the Independent Care Group in North Yorkshire promoting best practices and providing a valuable voice for the independent care sector. The pandemic has proven the need for care providers to work together and speak with one voice so that we can achieve the reform to the Social Care system that is so desperately needed.
I’m so proud of our staff team, over the last 18 months, things have been really difficult for everyone. However, everybody at NCCN has stood up to the challenge and everyone has faced up to the dangers and challenges that covid has posed remarkably. I can’t thank all our staff enough, what an amazing team achievement keeping our service users safe.
In my spare time, I like travelling with my family (not much of that happening at the moment!), eating out, gardening and walking in the country.
Hi, I’m Sue. I’m the registered manager and have worked for NCCN since 2002 when Jays Home Care was acquired.
I became interested in the health and social care sector when I suddenly needed to provide care for my mother following the sudden and unexpected death of my father, leading to my mother moving in with me and my young family due to her diagnosis of early onset dementia and being unable to live independently. My personal experience sparked my fascination with adult health and social care so I joined a local domiciliary company as a result.
Beginning my career as a support worker in the community gaining experience and knowledge through work-based learning and constantly updating my knowledge through CPD, utilising every opportunity for development and growth. Utilising my skills and knowledge I began taking on more responsibilities such as delivering training and was promoted into more senior roles as a care coordinator, office manager and finally the company registered manager for both branches. Qualifying in the Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, Moving and Handling, Risk Assessments and First Aid Train the Trainer.
I’m incredibly passionate about the company and my role within it. There isn’t a typical day at NCCN, I enjoy every aspect of my responsibilities particularly problem solving, I relish the variety of challenges I can be faced with.
Over the years I have met some inspirational and knowledgeable people who I have drawn from to help grow the business alongside my own skill set.
We are incredibly fortunate at NCCN to have an incredibly dedicated team and it’s a privilege to work alongside each and every one of them. I value everyone’s contribution throughout the company from the support workers in the community to the office-based teams, we wouldn’t be able to offer high-quality service without the commitment shown daily. This has been proven particularly over the last 12-18 months through the resilience and unwavering strength we have seen displayed by team members.
Away from work, you will find me spending time with my family and taking care of my horse
Hi, I’m Marie. My role within New Concept in Care and Nursing is the Service Manager for the Learning Disabilities division. I started my employment with NCCN in November 2023.
Although I’m relatively new to the company and I’m in my first week, I feel that I have worked for NCCN for several years, as I feel I fit in very well. The team I have met are so friendly, welcoming and between us all we have lots of varied skills and qualifications to make and build a well-established, care and quality-focused team.
I became interested in working in the care sector at a very young age. In fact, I was under the legal age limit of 18 to be able to have a Contract of Employment. As I was very keen to start my career, I therefore decided to work as a Volunteer in a Residential Care Home in Hull, for adults with Physical Disabilities. I would visit the home and support the service users with their daily living skills, join in varied in-house activities or escort them on day trips and outings of their choice. While doing this, I was able to develop my knowledge and understanding of various physical and mental health disabilities.
In 1995, I was able to sign a Contract of Employment and over the years of working in a Residential Care Home, I was always given the opportunity to flourish and be promoted ‘up the ranks’ (so to speak!). The job roles I had were: Support Worker, which then led to Team Leader, where I managed my own team at the age of 21, Care Services Co-ordinator, and then Assistant Manager.
Unfortunately, my career came to a standstill as an Assistant Manager. But in January 2014, I was approached and asked if I would consider stepping up into a Service Manager role on an interim basis. The reason for this was that another care home within the Physical Disabilities and Autistic division, located in Nottingham, sadly received a negative CQC Inspection and was rated ‘Inadequate’. I was so excited about the development opportunity; I couldn’t wait to get stuck in! My skills and knowledge were certainly put to the test as I was asked to step in as a turnaround manager. 6 months later, in July 2014, we were re-inspected, and the rating improved to ‘Good’. I then became the Registered Manager for the service and sustained the CQC rating as Good for the remainder of my time with the company.
Over the years I have gained experience through hands-on care/ work-based learning, online and face-to-face training and have successfully achieved Health and Social Care Level 2, 3 and 5 Leadership and Management, A1 Assessor Award, PTLLS Level 3 Award, Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care for Children and Young Adults, Diploma in Operations Management, Manual Handling Train the Trainer, and Project Management. I feel that my CPD is very important in keeping up to date with current legislation, and I do this by reading various news articles/ newsletters and joining webinars.
During my time with the above company, I also worked with service users in the Brain Injury Rehabilitation division, where they had experienced and suffered traumatic accidents or events in their lives, resulting in them having lifelong mental health issues and/ or physical disabilities.
I then became the Registered Manager for a Domiciliary Care company based in two areas, one in the East Riding of Yorkshire and the other in North Yorkshire, and I also owned another 3rd branch within that same company. I supported clients with various care requirements, including Dementia, Learning Disability, Autism and Complex PTSD.
In 2023, I started my role as Learning Disabilities Service Manager at NCCN, and I can honestly say it’s a pleasure to be part of a reputable, fast-growing company.
I have been and always will be very passionate and committed to my role. My focus is to continue to succeed in supporting those who deserve a quality of life, promote their independence, and remain an excellent team player with those I work with.
In my personal time, I love being a mummy to my little girl, and I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
My name is Charlotte, and I am thrilled to join NCCN as Training Manager. My journey in the Health and Social Care sector began at the age of 18, starting as a Care Assistant. Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals in various capacities, from nursing support and advanced dementia care to assisting those with learning disabilities and more. Each role has enriched my understanding and reinforced my dedication to providing exceptional care.
Throughout my career, I have grown and evolved, taking on roles such as NVQ Assessor, Health and Social Care Tutor, Trainer, Residential Manager, and most recently, Training Manager. These experiences have not only broadened my expertise but also deepened my commitment to improving care standards and enhancing the knowledge and skills of those I work with. I am incredibly proud of the work I do and the positive impact it has on both staff and clients.
Outside of my professional life, I am a proud parent of a young child. In my spare time, I enjoy going on adventures with my family, particularly enjoying long, lazy Sunday walks. I also find joy in staying active at the gym, diving into a good book, and spending quality time with friends and family. And, of course, I believe there's nothing quite like a good brew and some chocolate!
I am excited to bring my passion and experience to NCCN, and I look forward to contributing to our shared mission of delivering outstanding care.
My name is Jen, and I am currently working as the Digital Media Officer at NCCN.
My journey with NCCN began in 2004 when I joined as a part-time care worker. During my early years at NCCN, I completed my Level 3 qualification in Adult Health and Social Care. I was promoted to the role of care coordinator. In this new position, I had the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities, such as managing and coordinating care teams and ensuring the smooth running of care services.
However, life took an exciting turn for me when I decided to start a family. I made the difficult decision to step away from my role at NCCN in 2017 to focus on my young family.
In 2022, I eagerly returned to NCCN. This time, I took on a different role, becoming involved in the dynamic and ever-evolving world of digital media. As the Digital Media Officer, my responsibilities expanded beyond direct care provision.
Now, I focus on driving the recruitment efforts for NCCN, attracting talented and compassionate individuals to join our care teams who align with our values of trust, respect, excellence, and kindness.
Additionally, I handle all forms of digital media and advertising initiatives. We strive to connect with individuals and families in need of support, offering them the reassurance that they are not alone in their journey.
I am deeply involved in NCCN's social responsibility efforts. We understand the importance of giving back to the communities we serve and actively engage in various charitable and community-based activities. Whether it's organising events, participating in fundraising campaigns, or volunteering our time and skills.
I look forward to the future with NCCN, where I hope to contribute further to the improvement of care services and the well-being of the staff and those we provide services for.
Hi, I’m Ellie! I am the new Marketing Officer for NCCN, covering all three branches.
I began my Digital Marketing journey in 2022 when I started a level 3 apprenticeship in Digital Marketing, and after gaining lots of knowledge and experience, I completed my apprenticeship in 2024. Since then, I have taken a big step in my career and started my position at NCCN as their marketing officer. I have a great passion for marketing and can’t wait to put my skills to the test!

I have 25 years of experience within the administration, including an RSA Level 3, and I also have an NCFE Level 2 in Principals of Dementia Care.

Throughout my time at NCCN, I have developed my skills and all aspects of my role, and I thoroughly enjoy working here with my colleagues.

Hello, I’m Karl. I have worked for NCCN since February 2010, as part of the LD team. My role is varied and includes supporting the service manager with assessments and reviews, and writing care plans and risk assessments. I also work with my colleague to coordinate rotas and visit schedules.
Since joining NCCN, I have completed my Level 5 Diploma in Leadership in Health and Social Care, as well as becoming a mental health first aider and dementia friend’s champion.
I am a NAPPI (Non-Abusive Physical and Psychological Intervention) positive behaviour support trainer, delivering this session to both new and existing staff. This is a role I am very passionate about as it promotes the rights of the people we support by focusing on the positive aspects of their lives.
I have over 20 years of experience in supporting and working with adults with a learning disability and have worked in a number of environments, including residential, supported living and secure settings. I feel this variety has given me valuable experience to enable me to work in my current role.
I am a York City fan and, despite the inevitable disappointment that comes with supporting York, I follow them home and away.
I enjoy being outdoors, visiting National Trust sites and geocaching. I like reading and have a zombie obsession.
Hi, my name is Bernie and my role at NCCN is Care Coordinator. I began working for NCCN in 2002 as a support worker in the community, gaining experience in all aspects of care from domiciliary care through to more complex care such as supporting individuals who require additional support with the use of machinery for example cough assistance, ventilator, tracheostomy etc. Gaining this knowledge and experience allowed me the opportunity to see the value in giving individuals the options of remaining in their own homes and promoting their independence and dignity in care.
Within my role as Care Coordinator, I support my team of support workers on a daily basis through consistency of rotas, regular supervision and reviews. I work alongside family members, Social Services and other professionals to ensure the highest quality of care is offered to each individual within the service. I believe in having an open and strong communication line with all parties involved so we can continuously review and improve the services offered.
The aspect of my role I enjoy most is having open lines of communication to allow and support individuals within the service to make and achieve the requests in regard to their care. Additionally, I enjoy working with my team of support workers as they have an excellent team ethic and pull together to ensure every service user is receiving the best possible care.
Hi, my name is Nicola and my role at NCCN is Care Coordinator. I began working for NCCN in April 2023 before this I was a Rota Cocoordinator for Elizabeth Homecare from December 2013. NCCN took over Elizabeth Homecare in April 2023.
As a Care Coordinator, I support my team of support workers daily through consistency of rotas, regular supervisions, and reviews. I work alongside family members, Social Services, and other professionals to ensure the highest quality of care is offered to each individual within the service.
The aspect of my role I enjoy most is having communication with my support workers, with having communication daily I feel this allows support workers to support individuals within the service to make and achieve the requests regarding their care.
Hi, I'm Flora and I am one of the care coordinators at NCCN.
I have been working in the care sector for 14 years (starting in 2010) with my first role being with NCCN starting as a care worker, after four years with NCCN I went on to work in residential care that specialised in dementia and after having two children returned to NCCN in 2021 where I worked as a carer before becoming a care coordinator in 2023. I still enjoy going out caring and seeing my regular service users.
My role as a care coordinator includes supporting my team of support workers with daily rotas, supervisions and reviews and from being a carer myself I understand how important it is to feel supported by your care coordinator.
I work alongside Service users and their family members and other professionals to ensure the highest quality of care is offered to each individual.
As a Care Coordinator, I’m responsible for organising and managing domiciliary care across Market Weighton, Pocklington, and Holme-on-Spalding-Moor. My role involves scheduling care visits, supporting our care team, and ensuring each service user receives the right care to meet their individual needs. I’m passionate about providing compassionate, person-centred support that helps people live safely and comfortably in their own homes.
Hi, my name is Emma, and I am the Nurse Consultant for New Concept Care and Nursing, working across the Market Weighton and Selby branches. I have worked here since 2018, and I have loved every minute. NCCN is a very supportive workplace, and I work with a fab bunch of people.
After qualifying as a Registered Nurse, I worked in a surgical ward with an attached Nurse Enhanced Unit, caring for seriously ill patients with complex needs. Following this, I worked in a Neurological Rehabilitation Centre with people with life-limiting neurological conditions and brain injuries, and as a Clinical Assessor assessing claimants for disability benefits.
My other roles within NCCN are the Medication and First Aid trainer, including Mental Health First Aider.
Hi, my name’s Wren and I’m the Assessment and Review Officer for New Concept Care and Nursing; I have worked here since 2019.
After specialising in my Master’s degree thesis in 20th Century diagnostic/prognostic models of psychopathy and its contemporary assimilation with controversial conversion therapies, and also teaching as a Postgraduate Student Lecturer, I knew I wanted to further my learning and experience by working within the healthcare sector. Following this, I spent five years working with adults with Mental Health and Learning Disabilities, eventually focusing on care planning, risk assessments, and community rehabilitation and integration.
When I joined NCCN, I received excellent training to be able to fulfil my role and responsibilities as an Assessment Officer and since then, I have built my confidence and knowledge with the support of my colleagues and team. My additional roles within the company are the Moving & Handling and Medication Assessor and Trainer, which are one of my favourite aspects of my job – including additional Falls Prevention training and a Level 1 in British Sign Language. I am proud to work for a company which also actively supports and advocates for inclusivity and diversity within the workplace and community.
