Bluebird took on mothers care approximately 2 years ago.
Prior to this mother had been sent home by Hospital in the care of 'another' care provider to provide hospital after care and assessment. This service was poor.
With assistance from Social Services we engaged Bluebird. Their service from beginning to end was the polar opposite to the previous 'provider'. They have been quite excellent!
The Care Team operatives looked after every aspect of mums personal care, laundry, cleaning, meals, prompting medication, putting her to bed etc.
Along with all that Bluebird office based support team liaised with us on all issues. They liaised with doctors, pharmacy, hospitals etc. Advised any property related issues and services requiring attention.

Mum had her independence and we had peace of mind.

Thanks for such an excellent review. We consider it a privelige to have been a part of the team who cared for your mother, facilitated in no small way by yourself. I am happy that she was able to go on to a care setting which met her increased needs, although we will of course miss you both. Wishig you all the best for the future.

My mother came to live with me in Gloucester 3 years ago and following a rapid decline in her health she became more frail and less mobile. She had numerous complex health issues. In November 2023 we arranged for weekly visits. I had been in bad health myself during the summer and my husband had died suddenly in December 2022. I started feeling very concerned about not having a back up plan if my own health was poor.
Over time visits gradually increased to adapt to changing needs. This was always promptly and kindly dealt with. All carers who visited, without exception, were professional , with care and warmth. They soon realised that my mother was wanting to maintain as much independence as she could still muster. They encouraged this but adapted when she had periods of poor health.
She loved to chat with them about their families. I often heard her upstairs having a real giggle with them.

Sadly after battling through deteriorating health she passed away in hospital in June 2025.

My parents were both diagnosed with dementia at the same time two years ago. They soon progressed to the stage where they needed to be in a home, or to have live-in care.

They wanted to stay at home as long as possible so we started a live-in arrangement with a different agency and had huge difficulties.

We then switched to Bluebird Care Gloucestershire North and it made all the difference. They enabled Mum and Dad to enjoy two more years at home together. The difference in the quality of care and professionalism of the management was astounding.

The management are very easy to contact, responsive and understanding.

All of the carers were high-quality. It was very helpful to be able to discuss Mum and Dad's progress and needs with them.

I highly recommend Bluebird Care Gloucestershire North.

Amazing staff and amazing care. Nothing was too much trouble, always professional and courteous and treated Mum with the greatest dignity. The support for my mum and myself was priceless and I always knew Mum was being well cared for. If I ever had a query, the Office Staff were always there to help. Unfortunately, my mum has had to go into residential care and I know Mum will miss the girls. I would thoroughly recommend Bluebird to anyone looking for care.

Overall the care my husband has received has been excellent. As we have a carer come to allow me to leave the house for appointments, shopping etc. The one grumble I have is that the carer is often late, which can be a problem if I have an appointment. Although of course, I realise that it’s not always possible for her to leave the previous client on the dot, I wonder if enough time is allowed for traffic, distance and so forth between jobs.

Reply from Gareth Powick, Director at Bluebird Care (Cheltenham, Gloucester & Tewkesbury)

Thank you for taking the time to review us; I'm glad your overall experience has been excellent. I'm sorry to hear the variances in your visit time cause you problems. I can see that the carer has been between 10 and 20 minutes late on 5 occasions in the last 3 months, which does meet the service...

Bluebird helped to look after my Mum for many years, until sadly at 95 she had to go into hospital. The care given to her enabled her to stay in her own home for as long as she did which is what she wanted. They provided daily visits to my Mum to help with personal care, medication, meal preparation, general well being and bedtime calls to ensure all was well and she was safe for the night. Along side this their support to me as her main carer was invaluable. When I was poorly myself they quickly stepped in with more visits giving me the chance to recuperate. Communication was brilliant and nothing ever seemed to much trouble. The way they operate is highly professional and they run a system which is easy to access so you can check visits and notes at any time. Happy, friendly carers is testament to the staff being treated well by the company. I cannot reccomend them enough.

To date, I have been very pleased with the help and support that Bluebird Care staff have given me to set up and arrange the care package for my mother and, more importantly, the care, kindness and attention they give to my mother. They respond promptly to any messages I leave on the App and have responded quickly and positively to my requests for additional support.

The Team provided a good standard of care for my Mother whilst she adjusted to being less able to care for herself. I was able to book extra slots if available. I found contacting the office to discuss matters or with financial queries were resolved satisfactorily and promptly.

Bluebird have been looking after my Mum for more than 5 years and the superb care they provided enabled Mum to stay in her own home despite some challenges due to her vascular dementia. As well as being incredibly professional all the Bluebird carers are so friendly and kind and have been very flexible with any changes we needed to make with the care schedule. I would thoroughly recommend Bluebird to those seeking care in the home for their loved ones.

Assessment of need is comprehensive and regularly updated in consultation with family members. Care plan clearly reflects mum's assessed needs and the actual care is provided in a professional way by the range of carers for mum. The app is conscientiously updated with dignity and respect for my mum's needs. It’s very reassuring when I live so far away and taking into account the impact of COVID. The care Bluebird provides is excellent and responsive to changing needs.

We have been clients of Bluebird for several years, firstly looking after mum, now looking after dad. Dad is 92 with significant Alzheimer's. The care we have received has enabled dad to remain in his own home, and Bluebird have become not only our eyes and ears but are also seen as a family friend. Service has consistently been excellent, often way above the task list. We continue to be grateful to the local team and thoroughly appreciate everything they do.

Thank you, Tim, for this lovely review. It is our pleasure to work in partnership with you and the rest of your family to ensure your dad continues to get the highest standards of care. The carers love visiting your dad to enable him to remain at home and as independent as possible.

I was very fortunate to have been introduced to Bluebird Care. I needed to have carers who were reliable, dedicated and would ensure Mum was well looked after. We don't live nearby so had to have a team I could trust 100%. All the ladies who went to care for Mum were the most considerate, caring and dedicated people I could have wished for. They built a good relationship with Mum, and she loved their company and help. Nothing has ever been too much trouble for them whatever unexpected situation might have arisen along the way. Taking Mum to the doctors or dentist, cleaning, washing and putting her shopping away is all part of the service they offered. My brother and I are truly grateful and lucky to have had them look after Mum, as I know she was happy during these times.

All the staff loved visits to your mum and also when she visited us in our office and on open days. Everyone is missing her sparkle and great sense of humour. It was always a great pleasure to provide support for your mum. Thank you very much for your lovely review, we will ensure that her team of carers get to see it.

Bluebird Care have looked my aunt since February 2015 providing care at her home several times a day over that period. This culminated with a live-in carer prior to an extended hospital stay and she is now in a residential nursing home. I can recommend most highly Bluebird Care Gloucester, both their administrative staff and their carers are extremely professional, friendly and understanding people and took enormous care of my aunt. I was kept informed of all situations, supporting me in my concerns for my aunt's health as I live 80 miles away.

Thank you very much to all involved.
