Bluebird Care Colchester & Tendring specialises in working with customers and their families that require care in their own homes.

Bluebird Care offers a personalised and bespoke service for all clients and staff can visit from 60 minutes to full live-in support.

All agency staff are DBS/CRB checked and are fully trained.

The services Bluebird Care provide include live-in care, domiciliary care, night care and respite care.

At the start of 2024, my mother had a fall which resulted in her requiring 24-hour care when she came back from hospital. I contacted various providers and Bluebird Care, from the word go, understood what was required. Arranged a visit to Mum in hospital and very quickly provided a carer that could
live in at short notice.
The carer provided was excellent and understood her role was to get Mum back on her feet, living independently rather than taking over Mum's life. She quickly built a strong relationship with Mum and worked with her to do the everyday tasks. With the carer's support, I do not think we would have been in a position to no longer require the care ten weeks later.
Bluebird and the carer provided gave great support and advice along the recovery process.
Reply from Abby Black, Registered Care Manager at Bluebird Care Colchester, Tendring, Braintree and UttlesfordThank you for taking the time to write such a positive review. We are really pleased we played such a positive role as part of your mother's recovery.

Carer who visits for my wife is always friendly, helpful and is very easy to get along with. It takes a long time for my wife to get used to someone else in the home to look after her when I am out, so it is good she has got someone that she can get along with.

Bluebird staff provided exemplary night time care for my mother in her final weeks. As a family, we felt both supported and strengthened by the expertise and compassion they demonstrated and their willingness to adapt to our specific requirements and provide genuine person-centred care made all the
difference to what was a very difficult and emotional time.
Reply from Becky Dixon, Registered Care Manager at Bluebird Care Colchester, Tendring, Braintree and UttlesfordThank you so much for your very kind words and the positive impact our staff had on your mother and family during this difficult time. I continue to be impressed with Bluebird staff. My son has been happy and settled with all his regular and occasionally new carers. I am aware that the carers have other clients before and after us, but they are on time.

We considered several companies when choosing in-home care for our mum. From the point of initial contact onward, everyone we have been in contact with at Bluebird has been extremely helpful and supportive. Mum's live-in carer is a lovely lady and has formed a great relationship with Mum - her experience
and warmth are really supporting Mum and helping us as a family.

In July I got married in Essex, but I'm not from the area so required support care to help my mother. I reached out to Bluebird care and they were absolutely amazing in helping. For a small job, and the set up work required on the day, they were fantastic and I'm very appreciative of everyone in the
team for helping. Based on my experience, I would recommend them.

Although Bluebird were only in place a very short time, it made such a difference to Mum's care at the end of her life.
We'd love to say a massive thank you to the girls who looked after Mum with such kindness, empathy and gentleness. You always took your time, showed respect and dignity to Mum, not
acting like she wasn't in the room even when not appearing conscious.
Your experience and training shone through. You were equally lovely to me and my brother too.
You are all worth your weight in gold and most definitely have earned your places in heaven. Again, thank you.
Reply from Becky Dixon, Registered Manager at Bluebird Care Colchester, Tendring, Braintree and UttlesfordThank you for such a lovely review. I am so glad we were able to support your mum and family during the last days of her life. I know how difficult a period this is.

Thank you again for taking the time to write this review. It really means a lot to us.

The home care has really helped me. The CPN goes out of her way to help me, she has been such a great support to me since my dad passed away. The support workers in my team care so much about you, nothing is a problem and they show me respect at all times. I would say this is a very good care company.
Kind regards.

We have been very pleased with the care we have received for Mum. At first, it took a while for things to settle down as we had a lot of different carers.
We are very happy now to have a good routine and regular schedules.
All the carers have been warm and friendly and mum feels very comfortable
in their care.

From the initial assessment, I found Bluebird to be sympathetic and understanding of our needs, particularly where the client may be resistant to help. Our carer has been perfectly matched with Mum with many shared interests and this together with the care and support received has been instrumental
in Mum's recovery. Bluebird team regularly visit and reviews care received and are trained on the equipment, such as the use of compressors/oxygen tanks.
The weekly schedule is provided in advance and where changes need to be made at short notice I receive a phone call. We are all pleased with the care and support from Bluebird and have recommended them to friends.

Bluebird Care are a very good company for having care provided. The staff are very warm and very caring and polite I get on with my carer, she is more of a friend to me now I have had her coming up for three years if there were more people like her the world would be a better place. And all so the stuff
in the staff in the office are very nice and helpful as well.

The live-in care provided by our two carers, was exemplary. Both became extra wings to the family and set and maintained high standards of care for Mum - we couldn’t have wished for better.
On occasion, the negative issues emanated from management with fragmented communication with carers and myself.
This seemed to be characterised by poor information sharing between departments rather than individual errors.
I must add to finish on a positive note, Bluebird excelled themselves by organising a small celebration for Mum's 100th birthday. It was very much appreciated.

I know the girls loved organizing the special birthday celebration.
I am sorry our office communication was not up to our normal high standards. Thank you for bringing this to our attention so we can put processes in place to improve our inter-office communication.

Carers are wonderful and work well with each other and us. Very clear and understanding of our needs. As we get to know them, they are more like family.

Always punctual, and if there is a delay, they call to let us know.

We started using Bluebird after my mum had a stroke in 2019. We’d had problems with the first care company we used in Colchester but never looked back after being recommended Bluebird.

My mum was so well looked after by all her carers from Bluebird. They were all so well trained, kind, caring and

would go the extra mile to make sure my mum was happy and comfortable.

What is great about Bluebird is they try to give you the same carers each week where possible. This meant my mum built lovely friendships with the carers she had regularly.

I moved in with my parents through lockdown and I would even hear my mum laughing and joking with her carer each morning. It was lovely and something I don’t think you get everywhere.

The office staff are also very professional. If ever there was an issue to discuss, I felt listened to and it was always resolved and dealt with promptly.

Reply from Krissy Rice, Operations Manager at Bluebird Care Colchester, Tendring, Braintree and UttlesfordThank you so much for your kind words. It makes all the difference when we hear what a good job we are doing. We shall make sure your kind words are passed on to the girls.

  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Director Joined: 2010

My journey with Bluebird Care started when my father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. I was working as a Senior Social worker for Essex County Council and thought it would be a simple task to find a quality care company to support both my father and mother at our family home in Tendring. Unfortunately, this was not the case and proved to be a very difficult task.

During my search for a company that cared for its customers and shared my values, I found Bluebird Care, however, its services were not provided in the Tendring area. My experience and difficulty with finding the right provider made me realise how significantly I wanted to make a positive difference in the community to help and support people in their own homes and deliver the quality of care they deserve.

In March 2010 Bluebird Care Colchester & Tendring first opened its offices in Wivenhoe providing care across the Tendring and Colchester areas. Since 2010 the company has grown vastly and is continuing to do so, now providing care throughout North East Essex. We are committed to our customers and our staff, many of which have been with us from the beginning.

“Would this be what I would want for my family?” This question is something that is embedded in our team’s values and drives them to provide the best possible care to our customers. Our mission statement since the first day has been “we aim to set standards of excellence and innovation for the care we provide our customers and for the training and support we give to our staff” and this still remains at the heart of the business.

If you would like to speak to me about home care please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Job Title: Registered Operations Manager

I have 20 years of experience in the Health and Social Care Sector - although I have known the industry from a young age. My mother introduced me to the Care industry and I grew up around the sector.

Prior to coming to Bluebird Care, I built my career by becoming an Office Manager for a different Care provider and within this role I supported the day to day management of the business. In 2010 I then progressed to become a Care Manager.

I have worked at Bluebird Care since its Tendring offices opened as the registered Care Manager. I am now the Registered Care Manager for both the Colchester and Tendring and Braintree and Uttlesford offices and has completed my Level 4 Diploma in Management and Leadership in Health and Social Care.

In 2020 I became our Registered Operations Manager and will be working towards an Operations Departmental Manager qualification.

Job Title: Training and Development Manager

I started my career in Care just over 18 years ago as a Care Assistant in a residential home; I was introduced to Care when I had my first baby and was looking for a flexible role that could make a difference but also fit around my new family life. Members of my family already worked in Care, so I knew that it was something I wanted to try.

20 years later and I love the difference that you can make to people's lives in the community. I am thankful for the qualifications and knowledge I have gained over the past 18 years in different care settings, and I'm pleased to be able to pass on that knowledge and support our Care Team to be the best they can be for our customers in the community.

I have two children of my own, and my youngest is so proud of what we do and the difference that we make, that she hopes to grow up one day to be a Care Assistant herself. I love how much the Care team and my own career has inspired her, and I hope to inspire more people to get involved in the Care industry; there really is nothing quite like the feeling you get when you're helping someone, and knowing because of you they can remain independent in their own home in the community.

With my current role, I support the Care team to continue reaching and exceeding the high standards of care we provide at Bluebird Care. I create meaningful and educational training content to inform and support the Care team's understanding of their roles and equip them with the tools they need to be prepared for any situation that they could face in the community.

My journey to where I am now has been a bit random, I started coaching football and teaching P.E. lessons, and from there I went into a warehouse where after a couple of years I became a supervisor and really enjoyed the problem-solving and different challenges it would bring. In 2018 I suffered the loss of my first baby which really hit me hard, but the support I received made me want to give back, to help and support people. So, in 2020 I made a decision that would change my life forever and join Bluebird's Rapid Response team, hands down the best career decision I ever made. From there I have go on to become a Senior and now Supervisor which I am really enjoying.

Outside of work, I love watching football and big Liverpool fan, I enjoy being active going for walks, spending time with my ever-growing family and trying new things, especially food I love food.

I have worked in the caring industry for over 23 years, my first job was in a Mental Health Rehabilitation Home. I have worked in various settings from mental health, learning disabilities, elderly to looking after a lady with a brain injury and her 4 children.

I have worked in care home settings and in the community. I came to Bluebird as the HR Administrator for the Braintree office, in May 2021. Alongside this role, I was helping on the recruitment side for Braintree and the opportunity came up to oversee the Recruitment for both offices which I was happy to do.

I like talking to people and generally, I am a good judge of character which I believe are key skill when recruiting Carers. Outside of work, I love spending time with family/friends, reading and listening to music, and going to the odd concert.

Football has always held a special place in my heart. I am an unwavering supporter of Manchester United, proudly wearing their colours and living and breathing each match. But my connection to the beautiful game runs deeper than that. I am an active participant, and every Saturday, you'll find me on the field, donning the Kings Park Rangers jersey. Football isn't just a hobby; it's a passion that fuels my spirit and provides me with a sense of purpose.

In 2020, I embarked on a career in the care sector, assuming the role of a finance manager. Over the course of three years, I've taken on the responsibility of managing the financial aspects of the industry, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to support the care of those in need. My journey began with a small, family-centred care company, where I gained invaluable experience and developed a deep understanding of the financial intricacies involved in providing quality care.

I started with Bluebird Care in January 2023 this marked a significant turning point in my career when I joined Bluebird Care, a distinguished care organization renowned for its commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care. Here, my expertise in finance has found a new purpose as I contribute to the financial stability of the organization, enabling it to continue making a positive impact on the lives of its clients.
