The care my mother received was excellent. The carer (usually the same person) went above and beyond and was always genuinely concerned for my mothers wellbeing.

I find the service you give very good & satisfactory. I was not feeling very well, December 2025. The carer (staff) visited me & I said I had a stomach bug. Without hesitation she said oh I can call another time. I wasn't able to accept her that day. So it got sorted okay.

We found Bluebird Care to be very good indeed and whilst there were some hiccups along the way, that once reported, were sorted out. There was always a willingness to help where possible outside of the contracted package, and it was a great blessing at those times when a little extra care was needed.

The carers who came to my dad were really nice and very caring but professional and our family would recommend Bluebird Care to anyone

Reply from Sam Angell, Social Media Assistant at Bluebird Care Wakefield and Kirklees

Bluebird looked after my partner who was dying with bowel cancer for several weeks before he actually passed away. The ladies who cared for him were, without exception, friendly, gentle, fun and helpful, which was great for him as he'd lost a great deal of dignity during his years of treatment. His 'ladies' made him feel comfortable; they talked freely to him and even let me help to hold him as they moved him about. This 'cuddle time' was important to both of us. Thank you so much for your care and compassion and for helping me through a very distressing, traumatic time.

Outstanding care!
My beloved mother was able to spend the last five months of her life in her much loved home of 62 years.

The major carer was warm, well organized and treated my mum with great respect and tenderness. The respite carers were good. It is a great comfort to know that mum had great care in her final months

Bluebird Care provided care for my wife over a number of years following an assessment of home care needs carried out by the NHS continuing health care team. We were very satisfied with the service provided by Bluebird and never considered changing to another healthcare company. Bluebird carers and management were always reliable, well trained and caring. Bluebird also were able to continue adapting to care requirements for my wife as her care needs increased up to her death in October 2024. I can highly recommend Bluebird Care. I cannot comment on value for money because billing was made 100% direct to NHS continuing healthcare.

Overall Experience

We have endured a horrific 10 weeks with Bluebird sending people who are not only inexperienced but with only 4 days of training and have been expected to give them full control. They have installed no confidence, failed to build good relationships, communication is exceptionally poor. We have been left doing care outserves on numerous occasions with managers turning up alone expecting me to be the second carer. The standard of training is low with support required in safe handling, dispensing of medications, feeding and positioning. It is clear that many carers haven't even read the care notes and are limited in their own communication skills. Rotas are always late and never completed so we are always chasing up who is coming, when and if there are staff available. We have raised issues many times but are ingored or are left at their mercy. The service should be about alleviating stress and care, not increasing the stress. We have literally been at their mercy and living our lives around the company.

Reply from Maddy, Director at Bluebird Care Wakefield and Kirklees

Thank you for your feedback. We're very sorry your experience hasn't met expectations. All our carers complete full training, shadowing, and a sign-off process before working independently. I have used Bluebird carers for my mum, who is in a residential care home. I have found my contact professional, sympathetic, supportive, and open to tailoring the service to my mum's needs. My mum has two carers who have visited the home on organised days, to either give companionship or a day out for coffee. Both carers are professional in their approach and give my mum a friendly, fun time. I would recommend Bluebird carers to others, for the kind of service they offer, it gives families peace of mind that their relatives are cared for. The reports online are a useful source of information on how the visit has gone.

I have found that the personal care, that is help with bathing, provided to my daughter has been excellent over these past fourteen months. My daughter tends to be a very anxious person, so I was pleased to see she soon became relaxed about the usual carer helping her. The carer has established a good rapport with her and with me also.

My mum has been really well looked after by her Bluebird carers, whose professionalism and caring attitude are commendable. We love the way meals are often cooked from scratch from fresh ingredients and the way her carers make every effort to engage her interest and chat to her. They have never let her down and they go above and beyond if needed to ensure she is safe and happy. They help her take care of her beloved cat, which means she can continue living independently and contentedly in her own home, despite her dementia and declining mobility. Suggestions/queries from me are responded to and the care plan amended if needed. I'm kept in the picture as to how she is and any needs which arise. Because I live 120 miles away, it's a huge weight off my mind to know she is in such good hands.

I have been receiving Bluebird Care for the last four years. Throughout I have always found staff to be capable, understanding and hard working in carrying out their duties.
They are carefully monitored when learning and carrying out duties, thus, quickly adapt to my medical needs and personal ones also all the household layout, tasks for bathroom, kitchen and bedroom.
Senior staff are responsible for the rota for home visits showing date, time, lengths and nature of care and carer attending clients.

Very important information, unfortunately since Covid all social care businesses are short staffs - this can easily affect the times and numbers of care daily visits. Not the fault of Bluebird - the nation needs them now.

Marked down due to a recent experience after coming home after being in hospital. Before this incident, I was Bluebirds' biggest ambassador and fan. I told everyone how good they are but after a particular act of non-caring vindictiveness this is sadly no longer the case. Although I still praise and admire my regular carers.

My father has been cared for by Bluebird Wakefield and Kirklees for some time as was my Mother previously and I can highly recommend them. The carers visit at least twice daily and with their assistance enable my father to live reasonably independently at home. The carers attend in all weathers and provide an excellent service. Communication of any issues or problems is also excellent. There are occasional issues which is impossible to avoid dealing with such a complex situation but these are always handled in a professional and timely fashion to everyone’s satisfaction. I really rate the service provided and the staff involved. Most importantly my father looks forward to seeing them each day. I have recommended Bluebird to others.
