We were referred to The Care Bureau by our hospital following a serious surgical procedure for a family member with IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis). We arrived at this review hoping we'd be wrong about what we experienced. We aren't.
Over four weeks, this agency was funded to provide approximately 112 care visits. They completed fewer than 4. When staff did arrive, they would stand at the door and leave without delivering any care-apparently remaining clocked on, being paid the entire time.
What makes this harder to write is not the inconvenience, but the medical danger. Our family member cannot be exposed to dust or pollen-their lungs are too fragile. Even a coughing episode risks bleeding in the lungs. We asked the carers to remove their outdoor shoes before entering our carpeted home. Instead of accommodating this simple, life-protecting boundary, they chose to abandon visits rather than help.
