Arbour Companions & Care are specialist providers of 24-hour live-in care in Surrey and surrounding counties. The business is family-owned, backed by more than 30 years' experience in the health and social care sector. CQC Regulated as Good in all 5 domains (July 2023).

Experienced carers provide care for a wide range of complex care needs, such as stroke rehabilitation. Offering support to those living with long-term conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Dementia and Epilepsy. Specialists in Palliative care.

Organising everything such as personal care, medication, shopping, cooking, housework, social interaction, trips out and accompanying to medical and personal appointments.

Flexible packages from short term respite care of 2-4 weeks to long-term contracts. A trial period of 4 weeks is offered, so that clients can see whether the service works for them and can just give 7 days’ notice.

Working with people’s strengths rather than focusing on what they can’t do. A comprehensive care needs assessment is carried out to create a bespoke care plan.

Services are managed, each contract is supervised, all carers work is quality assured, accurate records are monitored to provide an all-round safety-net. Highly trained Field Care Supervisors support carers and carry out supervisions, observations, and medication competencies. An on-call service is available 24/7 for emergency support and peace of mind.

Carers live in, but are not expected to be under the client’s feet all day – carers are available for the whole of the 24-hour period (but do not work more than 10 hours, over the whole day).

Clients and their family members, with permissions, can see exactly what care is being given throughout the day via a system called Pass. It stores important documents such as care plans, risk assessments, daily record notes, medication administration records and any other relevant care information.

The Managing Director was very professional and efficient from the get-go when I enquired about live-in care. Within a week of correspondence, we met her and two members of staff. One of whom was obviously very experienced in dealing with Dementia sufferers and was amazing from the minute she stepped
through the door and made a fantastic bond with my Mum - describing her as a Grandma figure. She always made sure my Mum was clean, comfortable and happy, ensuring Mum was always the priority. True assets to Arbour. I can and will only speak highly of Arbour Care and over the moon with the support they have shown myself and my late mother. Thank you so much, Arbour.

The company are diligent in assessing client needs and providing high-quality care in the home. A manager visited my parents' home and spent a long time getting a detailed background, assessing their personalities and interests, preferences and expectations. This was done in a friendly, reassuring manner
to be able to match them with a suitable carer and an individualised care plan.
The live-in carers (there have been two over the last few months) have been hard-working, dedicated and have provided a high standard of care. Without this service, my parents would not have been able to remain in their home.
It has given my brothers and myself immense peace of mind to know our parents are safe and cared for 24/7.
Reply from Julie Thomas, Manager at Arbour Companions & CareThank you so much for the positive feedback, I will pass on your review and look forward to seeing you all soon.

Arbour Care has consistently provided high levels of care to my mum. All carers are professional, efficient and highly skilled, and they have also all been sympathetic and caring. Whenever issues have arisen they have been handled compassionately and efficiently. The management team respond to us in
a timely manner and in a caring manner. I cannot praise the whole team highly enough.
Reply from Julie Thomas, Manager at Arbour Companions & CareI would like to thank you from all the team at Arbour Care for your very kind words. We are very proud of the care team that deliver care and we could not have a better team to represent us as a company.
I will be sure to send your comments directly to the staff member looking after Mum. Once again, thank you.

This weekend our son will have been living independently with his live-in carer for four years. As a family, it was a very difficult decision to allow our disabled son to move to his own property, but with the support of his amazing carer, he has blossomed and is very happy. His carer is very kind,
patient, very professional and very caring and they have developed a very warm relationship. Nothing is too much trouble for her with regards to our son's needs and during the lockdown she has been amazing, giving up any holidays she would have taken to care and protect our son. As a family, we are eternally grateful to her and she has become a very important part of our family. So we want to say a big thank you to her, and all the staff at Arbour care, who do a truly amazing job.
Reply from Julie Thomas, Manager at Arbour Companions & CareI would like to thank you for the review submitted. The care worker placed is extremely happy with the support she receives from you all as a family, and we are so very privileged to have her and all our other amazing live-in care workers representing us as a company.
I look forward to letting her know of the very kind words from you and to continue to support your relative for many years to come.

Arbour Care has been looking after my Mum for just over a year. Mum was recently hospitalised with Covid-19 but has made a remarkable recovery. Arbour Care worked closely with health professionals and myself to bring Mum home safely as soon as possible. She has needed a much greater level of care since
coming home.

In very difficult circumstances, Arbour Care has pulled out all the stops to provide that care. They have worked with occupational therapists, district nurses and the GP to make sure that all Mum's complex needs are met. Mum's regular carer has been with her through all this, with the back up of other members of the team. Mum has a very good relationship with her carer; they chat and laugh together, and Mum really enjoys the companionship of having a live-in carer.
I would like to thank the manager and all the team for everything they have done for my Mum.

Not living locally and not able to visit my father at short notice, I can honestly say that Arbour Companions & Care are the best in class for home care and support. My father is suffering from Alzheimer's and needs daily home care and social support. The registered manager and her team are virtually
now an extended part of my family since we moved my father to Arbour Companions & Care on February 1st 2020. I have 100% full trust and respect for her and her team, and cannot express how happy and pleased I am with the professional service and support, myself included. My father is now relaxed, happier, smiling and eating well (too well) and that is down to the style of care he is receiving. Stimulation of the brain and being seen and respected as a person is what anyone should wish for their loved ones, and this is what you get when you deal with the manager and the team.

My Dad required care for a week - 2 visits a day. There were a team of three carers and the manager who were all excellent and really friendly. The manager visited to see my Dad and to find out exactly what he needed. She even came out of hours when he had problems with his catheter. I wouldn’t hesitate
to recommend them.

I cannot speak highly enough about the live- carers from Arbour care.
They looked after my husband when he was discharged from hospital and supported us both at a time when we needed it most.
I had been concerned about having a stranger in the house, but it was just what we needed.
The carers were
extremely kind, thoughtful, very patient, considerate and knew exactly what they were doing.
The manager and her team kept a close eye on my husband’s care and were there for me too.
I found them to be a very professional company that takes pride in their carers and in the service they provide.

So very impressed with Arbour Companions & Care. From the very first contact, they were so professional, helpful and caring. During the transition from hospital back to her home my Mother was given every courtesy and care. The carers she had from Arbour Companions & Care were excellent and really
gave 110%. Would thoroughly recommend Arbour Companions & Care wholeheartedly.

Excellent care provider to my father. Thoughtful and considered approach, consistent and experienced care team who all had a keen desire to provide the appropriate level of full-time care service. Excellent levels of communication, regularly cross-checking that everything was working according to plan.
Highly responsive to any issues that arose. Would strongly recommend Arbour Care.

They are professional and knowledgeable. The company also has a very supportive management team. I would not hesitate
to recommend Arbour to families who need help with their loved ones.

Arbour Companions & Care provided an excellent service. My initial contact set things up quickly and efficiently which was essential to get my aunt out of the hospital. The live-in carer was a very nice and sensitive woman who worked very hard and did her best to make a good relationship with all the
other people involved as well as my aunt. She was a good carer.

We have experience of this care provider so when it was clear that Dad required 24-hour care, we had no hesitation in contacting Arbour Companions and Care. Our need was urgent and the owner, responded extremely quickly, assessed our needs and had a carer in place within just 2 weeks of our initial
contact.

The carer who looked after my Dad was a 'perfect fit' (for Dad and the whole family) and helped us through what has been an extremely difficult period in our lives.

We always felt Arbour Companions and Care had our best interests at heart and used their experience and knowledge of the NHS and the care industry to great effect in ensuring Dad had both the equipment and specialism he needed. The owner provided us with very helpful, knowledgeable and timely advice throughout but at the same time was very accepting and supportive of decisions made by the family.

I would not hesitate to recommend Arbour Companions and Care to families with similar needs.

A big thank you to Arbour Care for arranging, at very short notice, a companion to stay with my dad for 4 weeks following a stroke. They were a great support for him and instrumental in getting him 'back on his feet'. He is doing well and we celebrated his 96th birthday last week.

I won't hesitate
to contact Arbour in the future if further help, support and advice are required. A professional, empathetic and approachable company.

Thank you.

My father required complex care at home and I was recommended Arbour Care. When the Manager contacted me to discuss my father's care needs, I felt that I had struck lucky. However, when I saw the entire care team in action, I knew that I had, in fact, struck gold. They all delivered very professional
care along with the kindness usually only received from closest friends. I cannot thank or praise them enough.

We have been delighted with Arbour Care Service. From the outset this small family business has gone out of their way to provide the friendly personal care that has enabled my mother to stay in her own home. We have had continual support and guidance from the management team, who are always available.
We consider the carers to be friends of the family, whilst retaining a professionalism at all times. We are so pleased to have found Arbour Companions & Care.

My Mum suffered a debilitating stroke a few months ago which has accelerated her dementia. She now needs 24/7 care and we wanted Mum to have the best care possible, in her own home.

Finding the right care company was challenging. Most did not seem to take Mum's needs seriously, thinking of her as

a commodity rather than as a person. That all changed when I met the manager from Arbour Companions and Care. She was extremely knowledgeable, professional and efficient yet at the same time personable, caring and kind. She spoke to Mum in the first instance (not about Mum) and quickly established her needs. The decision was an easy one.

My decision was a good one and we realised this when the carers arrived. They are marvellous. The lady who looks after Mum currently, is brilliant. Kind, attentive and professional. Mum is at home, with things happening on her terms.

Arbour Companions and Care is a good company. I trust them with my own family and am very happy with the results.

  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
