Hard-working, genuinely caring, empathetic, professional carers. The client and family are at the heart of the company. The carers go above and beyond all expectations. Dignity and self-respect of the client is paramount at all times. Cared for my husband for several years - always arrived with a smile.
High standards of confidentiality, record keeping and professionalism. Excellent company to care for a loved one.

My father was diagnosed with secondary brain cancer in January. It was sudden and within days he was sent home with an NHS continuous care plan. Two male carers from AVH Care visited four times a day until he died. I wish I could name them. They formed a close friendship with my father and treated him
with the dignity he deserved. His brain cancer meant that he struggled to speak. Yet he was a highly articulate man who regularly preached; taught A level students; and published books. I will always remember them. They did everything to build up my dad's confidence and reassure him, they showed nothing but the best of human kindness and compassion. On the day my dad died one came by - he didn't need to. They could not accept gifts and would not, so my sister and I donated money to the local Hospice instead and mentioned them. We want to thank them for being there for our father who has lived through so much in his life and who did not deserve to die so young. They were like family too.

When my Mum became practically bedridden due to terminal cancer, we looked for someone to look after her needs. We wanted to find someone whilst my Mum was still reasonably alert, as you need to develop quite an intimate relationship at quite a difficult time. We discovered AVH Care by pure luck. The
manageress came round and we took to her instantly. I have total faith in her ability. She is totally straight and very direct. She gets the 'patient' to do as much for themselves as possible, for as long as they can, and monitors their progress without making it obvious. She contacts and advises where needed. She keeps in touch with the medical team assigned and liaises with them.
The manageress goes way beyond the call of duty and if anyone was ever unsure I would be more than happy to recommend. My Mum is the most precious person in my life, and I feel extremely lucky that we managed to find someone so efficient, kind and caring who treats the person you want with such respect.

Inspection ratings
We rate most services according to how safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led they are, using four levels:
Outstanding - the service is performing exceptionally well.
Good - the service is performing well and meeting our expectations.
Requires improvement - the service isn't performing as well as it should and we have told the service how it must improve.
Inadequate - the service is performing badly and we've taken enforcement action against the provider of the service.
No rating/under appeal/rating suspended - there are some services which we can't rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider. Suspended ratings are being reviewed by us and will be published soon.
Ticks and crosses
We don't rate every type of service. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
There's no need for the service to take further action. If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service.
The service must make improvements.
At least one standard in this area was not being met when we inspected the service and we have taken enforcement action.
