My husband had care from Helping Hands for over 12 months. Although initially he was very reluctant to accept care from anyone but me, the girls that came were ideal and managed to persuade him to let them wash him. The agency explained they would send different carers for the first few sessions so that we could work out who suited my husband best and once we had done this there was remarkable continuity of care. When the regular carer was on holiday, they said they would send a carer who had a very similar approach to the usual one, and they did. I was very impressed with this, and with their flexibility when I had to alter sessions at relatively short notice. The carers were kind and efficient and the support and advice from the office staff was very helpful. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
Gill,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, we really do appreciate it.
It is wonderful that the carers' approach helped him feel comfortable and that our...
My son and I thought there would be a high level of continuity of care, and this is the only thing which could have been improved. Of the 20 sessions of care I had, one person came 3 times, six came twice, and five came once. That means I saw 12 different people for 20 sessions.
We are happy to hear, that whilst recovering from major surgery, Helping Hands input was very helpful to you and reassuring for you and your Son.
It is also great to know the staff were always helpful, willing,...
For 16 months HH have provided excellent live in care. Particularly from one lady who has been there most of time. On one occasion when a relief carer was not suitable she was replaced within the hour. Unfortunately this carer had been appointed by head office, and was unknown by the branch.
Generally very happy with the service provided.
When mum was in hospital they were very supportive to me, checking in how she was with out being intrusive. Mums needs changed and now in care home, but staff still visit but on a social level to keep the connection. Mum enjoys their visits and is always happy to see staff.
I would reccommend them to anyone needing additiinal help at home.
I am deeply grateful for the wonderful care provided by Helping Hands, having originally requested a package of care to be provided for just one week with very little notice. The carers were all courteous and professional, documenting their work extremely well. There was also good telephone support which I really appreciated - someone always answered the phone quite promptly even when a couple of the calls were well outside normal office hours.
The office staff attempt wherever possible to keep care workers consistent, and when making changes they do this sensitively and in a measured way. My mum has made very good relationships with lots of the carers and knowing who is visiting has been essential for her wellbeing.
The only place where improvement could be made is a reduction in organisational fees, as presently Helping Hands are priced a little too high for our Local Authority, meaning less people benefit from their excellent support.
They visit her Monday - Friday, unpack her shopping, change her bed, encourage her to change her clothes, do all her laundry, clean her home, cook her lunch, prepare a light supper for her and even walk with her to the pharmacy to collect her weekly prescription.
I don't know what I would do without their help. The daily report that is uploaded to the portal that I can log on to is invaluable.
The carers - all of them - but particularly two of them - are fabulous. My mother loves them and so do I!
My mother is in Exeter, I'm based in London and without their help my mother would have to be in a home.
The office staff are terrific too.
I couldn't recommend Helping Hands more highly.
The rota for each week's care sessions are clearly and promptly emailed and the admin staff are exceptionally efficient and accomodating.
The Heiping Hands Team are flexible and will always do their utmost to alter or ammend care sessions if required.
There is a personal care review meeting regularly which is reassuring so I know Mum is receiving the best care possible.
I would highly recommend Helping Hands.
Would highly recommend Helping Hands. All the carers were professional & really lovely. My mum was so well cared for, the carers went the extra mile for her. Communication with the office was excellent, responding to any queries really quickly.
That being said, all the carers mum had on her care at home journey were all polite, kind and considerate and knowledgeable of their job role.
I feel sad it has come to fact Mum needs full time care now. I am grateful that the transitional phase was made easier by the lovely people who worked with her.
I would recommend Helping hands to anyone looking for home care for their loved one.
They prompt him to wash and clean teeth during there visit.
Arranging the above care was simple and easy as the Admin team are so very aware of the needs of the elderly.
The carers who visited Dad were kind caring and so lovely with him.
With Helping Hands I felt Dad's general health improved. I was also aware that he had quality carers and he enjoyed there visits.
I am extremely happy with the care and support I received from Helping Hands (Exeter). I cannot fault the carers or office staff. The carers are empathetic, kind, friendly, efficient, helpful, respectful and go out of their way to do extra tasks for me. I do like having the same regular carers because they know what to do quickly and efficiently, without having to constantly check (and the office staff do try to arrange this). Some of the newer younger carers do not multi task and so their visit does not work as well (but they will learn in time). They almost always arrive on time (even with Exeter's chaotic traffic). The office staff are equally helpful and attend to requests quickly and efficiently and without a fuss. I would certainly recommend Helping Hands to anyone as the best care agency in Exeter.
The help that my mum received was great. The support and staff were fantastic and the help was gratefully appreciated by all family members. I would recommend Helping Hands to any needing care at home.
I've had no problems to date and am more than happy with the service.
I would definitely recommend Helping Hands Home Care to anyone looking for a Care Provider, I have found all the staff to be extremely caring and friendly, and when needed in an emergency have gone above and beyond to help. Words cannot express just how invaluable their Home Care service has been to my Mum and myself.

It enabled him to stay in his own home to the very end as he had wished.

All the carers were cheerful and kind to Dad, always polite and asked if there was anything else they could do. They always arrived on time (once they found our remote location) and told us in advance if the rota changed due to staff absence. I would recommend this company.

I'm very happy with the Helping Hands Home Care service. I am kept well informed and the staff arrive promptly and are kind and encouraging. My goal is to be fully independent by end December so that I can manage confidently on my own and I know they will all help me achieve this. NB: I seem to get duplicated emails about rotas and invoices.

Patient, caring staff. Experience of dementia was invaluable for the care of my mother. Carers were empathetic and kind. Good communication with the office and management and quick resolution of any problems or the need for urgent care cover. all staff friendly, respectful, polite and professional.
Best wishes.

I want to ensure our customers know that Care is better at home with Helping Hands and we continually strive to improve this service of care. I have been with the Exeter team since its opening in July 2017.
I am a grandmother to 5 girls, so this generally takes up a lot of my spare time. I also like to travel, dine out, and am a huge 70's music fan.
Experience and expertise
Previously I was a registered childminder for 16 years until I came into the adult care sector in 2012 as a carer. I then progressed onto other roles such as Patch Senior, Field Care Supervisor, Care Coordinator, and Assistant Manager.
