We had a very poor experience of care from a HomeTouch carer for my mum. All aspects of care were well below the standard we would expect. There were also operational problems with HomeTouch themselves. They said they could find a live-in carer within a week, but the reality is it took several weeks from when I made contact to when they actually found someone. There was lots of 'radio silence' during the period and I was ignored at times when I tried to chase things. They also didn't supply PPE on time for the carer.
HomeTouch also appear to have a narrower range of carers to choose from than they once did. This is a shame because one of the reasons we left previous providers is they would select the carer for you and you had no choice, but HomeTouch isn't much different. I chose HomeTouch because we had a private carer previously who used to work for HomeTouch and she was very good and I assumed that was HomeTouch's standard. Sadly it looks like HomeTouch have gone downhill.
Thank you for your feedback. We'd like to address a few points raised.
On timing, the original care arrangement was confirmed as continuing until after Christmas, so our matching process was planned accordingly. When timescales changed, we worked quickly to present suitable candidates and would...
Since she’s begun the care has few. Second to none.
Thank you Hometouch Live-in Care.
The carers were very well qualified and diligent with the help and assistance they provided. Their response to my online enquiries meant that I was able to find and select two carers to fill the gap for all 7 nights a week care. Their help was warm and comforting in a difficult time of transition.
I would have no hesitation in recommending HomeTouch and their people in the future.
Following a stroke, my 94-year-old Dad had 6 months of repeated and sustained hospital stays (5 of the 6 months) following short periods at home being "cared" for by over 30 different carers recommended by the council. In each of the short periods at home, he deteriorated rapidly, precipitating emergency hospital admissions, due to: lack of hygiene and food and additional strokes (due to falls). It wasn't all the fault of the carers who were poorly trained and paid minimum wage for 4 short 30-minute visits a day. Potential care homes ranged from fully booked (the better ones) to awful. Finally, we got agreement to source a 24-hour carer. The carer HomeTouch provided for us (at 12 hours notice) has been absolutely amazing the last 5 months, and the polar opposite of all the "care" he has received from other agencies: eating well, no health concerns, happy and contented. It's not cheap but, while we have the money, well worth it to see him live out his final days at home in a state of grace.
I have been using HomeTouch since September 2016 for my Grandmother who has dementia and I can honestly say they are fantastic. So easy to use, you choose who you want, you liaise directly with the carer and they contact you to make sure you're ok or need any assistance. Professional, helpful and very timely. Exactly what you want. Can not recommend them enough. Thank you HomeTouch.
I have been using HomeTouch since early November last year and cannot recommend them highly enough.
The carer I have found for my mother who has dementia is someone I would be happy having care for me if I was ill, she is kindness itself towards my mother and has improved her quality of life tremendously. She is honest and reliable and has also made my life so much easier as it has lifted a lot of the worry from me on a day to day basis as I work full time.
The carer has been so gentle and patient and the occupational therapy she does with my mum means that Mum has a lovely holiday with me when she comes to stay. I am very happy to recommend Home Touch and will continue to use them.
If we’ve needed to increase hours or change things they have been very helpful. Very pleased with the efficiency of the company.
I have been using Home Touch on an ad hoc/respite basis for 9 months. The ladies who have visited my father have all been excellent. They have been professional, caring, attentive and have provided Dad with plenty of conversation and good humour. They have fitted into our family extremely well and Dad looks forward to their next visit. I have recommended Home Touch to friends. It has taken me 4 years to find the right carers to look after my father as I have extremely high standards and our local hourly care company had already set the bar very high. I am very grateful for the service you provide.
Many thanks for your kind review Sarah.
This was my first contact with any care-agency, and I was under considerable stress, with my mother living alone and starting to lose both her memory and her mobility. A cousin recommended Home Touch, so I tried their website, which was very helpful. I duly wrote a short description of the job in plain terms, not hiding what the challenges were, and sent it out to eighteen of their carers. Twelve of them said they would be available, but when we interviewed the first one, it was clear that she was exactly the right person, and we didn’t have to look any further. She started next morning and performed brilliantly for the required month. Luck may have had something to do with it, but when I heard about the rigorous screening carried out by the Home Touch management, I realized that careful selection at their end was the key.
Many thanks for your kind review Jonathan. Yes, you are correct, rigorous screening and a large choice of carers is key to our service.
Home Touch is an excellent service and certainly saved my sanity after my husband had a stroke last year. Suddenly I was coping with someone who could do very little for himself and I was coping alone. I had some support via the social services who were nice but not really fully trained care workers, but then I discovered Home Touch. I was able to find someone in my local area who could do the hours to suit and also who was highly experienced. I loved the ease of the site to explore and choose the carer to suit me and my budget.
The carer came into my life and gave me peace of mind and also practical help. She stabilised our routine and helped us find our new normal. She was excellent - caring and flexible. I can't recommend this service highly enough for anyone in need.
When I needed urgent extra help for my mother in hospital to ensure she drank enough fluids, I found Home Touch a brilliant way to very quickly connect with a local, friendly, professional carer, who started visiting her within two days of me sending a message. She always texted me as soon as she arrived and when she left my mother, she gave me an update on how she was and how much she had drunk. She was always on time. I discussed the process of setting up a contract on the phone with the friendly Home Touch staff, and was able to do this easily online. Home Touch sometimes called me to check I was happy with the carer. What is great with this agency is that you can choose a carer that looks suitable yourself, discuss requirements and meet them, so it puts you much more in control of arranging the care you want, but Home Touch deal with all the legal and financial side of things so you don't have to worry about that, which you would do if you were employing a carer directly yourself.

Meet the Team (2)
Hometouch founder and CEO Dr Jamie Wilson started his career as a dementia specialist at Imperial College. Frustrated with NHS bureaucracy and experiencing first hand how difficult it was for his patients to find reliable home care, he realised the agency model was broken: carers were paid minimum wage, and patients had a lack of choice and control regarding care provision. It was clear to Jamie that fixing the agency model trust was critical for the future of dementia care and the NHS. Jamie founded Hometouch in 2015 and has received more than £5m in financial backing from BUPA, the UK government and Passion capital.
I support all the teams at Hometouch to ensure we deliver great care and support all of our clients and carers.
I've been working in health and social care for over 20 years and can honestly say that the staff at Hometouch are exceptional to work alongside and truly care about delivering the best they can each day.
