My father was very well looked after by a lovely group of carers - they were well organised and importantly my mother enjoyed their visits too, feeling reassured that they turned up when booked and knew what they were doing as well as enjoying their company. Being a flexible work force was also important to us as things could change quickly.

Very happy with the service we are receiving from Gracious Care. Mum has dementia and the befriending visits have helped ease the burden on us and also benefitted mum on having someone new to chat to. The initial visit from management took place in mums home and she was included in discussions around her needs. They matched her perfectly to their team member and mum looks forward to her visits.

My mother's desire to stay in her own home led us to find a care company who would look after her. Gracious Care have been amazing. They have looked after my mother for over a year with kindness, patience and care. Her dementia has not made this an easy journey, but all efforts are made to ensure she is cared for in somewhat difficult circumstances. I can't praise the staff highly enough for all their care and dedication to Mum's care.

I have been very happy with the care that was provided to my father over the last year. My father was well looked after for all his needs mentally and physically. The carers were a vital link between my father and myself. Good communication made me feel that my dad was getting the best care possible and provided him with virtual care at home. He loved seeing them and would chat away with his carers. The home was always spotless thanks to a good team that was put in place to care for my father. I never had any worries.

Care is generally good, except that provided by one member of staff who we understand is no longer employed by the care company. The cost of care is not cheap and following their latest increase in price we are considering cutting the number of hours arranged.

Reply from Christine McNamara, Owner at Gracious Care

We are sorry that one of your carers no longer works for the company as she moved on but I believe that you have had the same carer for over 6 months unless she is off sick. In regards to the increase in charges this was so we were able to give our care staff a significant pay rise to help them with the cost of living. The company have passed on the full increase to our staff.

The care my mother receives from Gracious Care is really good and the advice they give is useful. My mother knows all her carers by name and we always have the same group for a period of time, which I think gives my mother some stability.

Postoperative care for two weeks following spinal surgery for my 85-year-old mother. The staff assessed care needs and gave invaluable information that helped me have other services put in place as well as care the company could provide. The carers were fantastic and not only helped mum, but they also gave me breathing space. They are professional and kind, and have helped speed mums recovery. I would recommend Gracious Care without hesitation - a caring company with a fantastic leadership.

Congratulations! A friendly, responsive and extremely flexible team who have always gone above and beyond.
My elderly father really enjoys his regular visits, and they provide him with stimulation, company and humour. The care teams ensure he receives his important medication on time, as well as overseeing his ever-changing needs!
It's such a comfort to have a local company who are so attentive and so reliable too. We can only compliment you on your excellent staff, work ethic and performance.

Gracious Care provide an absolutely wonderful service. From the minute I contacted them, they lightened the load of care. Gracious Care helped with bringing my mum home from hospital, liaising with the nursing staff, organising the equipment she needed, form filling etc. Nothing was too much trouble. The carers were professional, genuinely kind, respectful and helpful. They frequently stayed longer than the time allotted and went above and beyond the call of duty. My only regret is that I didn't find them sooner and sadly, it was end-of-life care. In this respect, they couldn't have been kinder to my mum and the rest of the family. I thoroughly recommend this company.

For the past 18 months, Gracious Care has been supporting my 91-year-old mother (who has dementia and other health issues) so that she can stay in her own home, which is her fervent wish. They now visit my mother three times a day. Their excellent Carers assist with medication, preparing meals, showering, housework and laundry. Gracious Care has dealt with several emergencies, including a fall and her admission to hospital while I was out of the country. They are caring, responsive and professional. My mother loves having the carers visit her. They are flexible and adaptive, treating my mother with dignity and friendliness; they provide genuine caring support. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gracious Care to others.

Being a great carer involves a unique blend of empathy, patience, and skill.

I have worked in end-of-life care and enjoy passing my knowledge on to new staff. I dedicate myself to improving the quality of life for those I look after, giving them a sense of comfort, security and trust.

I am proud to be a member of such a fantastic group of carers and take pride in representing Gracious Care to its highest standards.

Claire Thomsett Job Title: Senior Care Supervisor Joined: 2024
Claire Thomsett

I was born in Hertfordshire but spent much of my formative years on the south coast. After finishing school, I followed my passion for horse riding and soon became involved in teaching riding for the disabled, a role that gave me immense pleasure, being able to bring so much joy and stimulation to young children and adults whose lives were often plagued with pain. The look of wonder and delight on their faces when they found they were able to achieve something that they had only ever dreamed of still brings a lump to my throat and a tear to my eyes.

I've also been a one-to-one support assistant for a young boy with Asperger's. This was a very rewarding but challenging role, and I supported the individual until he moved to his next school.

I feel that these experiences give me a unique insight, and so I was ready for another change. I decided that I would like to return to caring for and supporting others.

After my first week, I knew this was something I was going to really enjoy and wanted to progress with my training. I felt very privileged to be able to care for many customers, and this was quickly recognised by the management team as an area in which I was strong.

I'm excited by the prospect of expanding Gracious Care in the Rye and Robertsbridge area.

I particularly enjoy going out to meet new customers and their families, and explaining to them about the services we can offer to support them. The gratitude we receive and the messages of thanks leave you feeling that you really are able to make a difference, and although some days can be tough, it’s heartwarming to know how much better off these customers are now that they have the wonderful care and support of our incredible Gracious Care team.

What more can I say other than I consider myself to be incredibly lucky to be given this opportunity

Katie Upton Job Title: Trainee Care Supervisor Joined: 2025

I started a career as a baker, but after a while, I felt ready for something completely different. I wanted a job that would let me connect with people in a meaningful way. That's what led me to care work.

What I love most about this role is the time I get to spend with the people I support. Hearing their stories and learning from their experiences. It's a privilege to help others live independently in their own homes, where they feel most comfortable and in control. I believe in encouraging independence and making sure the people I care for feel supported, comfortable and respected

Another thing I love about this job is working as part of a supportive care team. We all share the same goal - helping people stay safe in their own homes for as long as possible. Knowing I'm part of a team that genuinely cares makes such a difference. I'm really proud of the work I get to do now. I still do baking now, but it's much more enjoyable doing it in my own time
