The carers are very good with my mother.
They don't rush her and they help her with her full wash down and dressing.

They always leave her room tidy.

Overall Experience

My regular term time carer experience is excellent and more efficient as I have been able to identify her strengths. In school hols, the substitute carers are all friendly and respectful. In order to match their strengths with tasks it would be helpful to be told in advance, who is coming, and at what time. Overall I am very pleased with my recent experiences with Bluebird Care. Thank you.

Overall Experience
We were very grateful to Bluebird Care for a speedy response when we were given very little notice that the care package from another care provider was coming to an end.
The carers are punctual + treat my mother with kindness and dignity which we really appreciate.

I also appreciate the support & communication from the office generally on matters relating to my mother's care - for example, I am kept informed when the carers may have had concerns following a visit.

Overall Experience

Very impressed with the care supervisor. Competent and Confident whilst showing empathy and understanding to my mum and my family's overall needs. The carer came in and very quickly built a positive relationship with my mum, she actively listened to my mum's needs both cognitively and physically.

Bluebird are so supportive and caring. As a family we feel very reassured when Mum is in their care. The carers themselves are brilliant and have a great relationship with Mum. As a whole their flexibility to provide care is second to none, whether planned in advance or last minute. Thank you.

Overall Experience
We've been using Bluebird Care over the last year to try to help keep my mother living independently in her own home for some time longer, with serious mobility issues, they have done a great job in helping with this.

My mother really appreciates the first-class care provided, she has built up a good relationship with the main careers who are just first class. I am really impressed and grateful for the services Bluebird Care is providing, very professional, respectful and understanding. Also when we've needed flexibility, extra time or extended visits this has all been possible, sometimes at short notice. I can't thank them all enough.

Overall Experience
Bluebird Care has provided my 85-year-old and disabled lifelong friend with excellent care and support during the time they have cared for him. Although he has some special favourites within the company, it is fair to say that he has been delighted with the performance of everyone who has cared for him.
Bluebird Care performs very favourably when compared with some other care companies I have previously known within the sector. They are excellent and respond quickly to his medical, welfare and personal needs. At the same time, they keep me updated as necessary in respect of matters for which have overall responsibility. I rate the company very highly. Bluebird Care is a very well-managed and led organisation. This is equally matched by the performance of their highly skilled and well-motivated staff.

Highly recommended.

Overall Experience

Mum was reluctant to the idea of having someone move into her house for live-in care until we met the Care Supervisor in Nottingham. Who came into our house a stranger and left being a friend of the family. She listened, laughed, and showed a true interest in mum and her anxiety about having this kind of support. With a list of demands from mum, they found us someone who matched and could start a few days later. Even when it began the few days between Christmas and New Year. Unfortunately, mums health was more serious than any of us knew and after a few weeks in the hospital, we put in place a waking night carer who also matched mums list of demands, but who could also support with mums end-of-life care, she was so compassionate and caring in mums last few days and the short time she was with us. My brother and I could not recommend Bluebird Care Nottingham enough in the short time we worked with them, they were so supportive to us too as family members.

We are really grateful for the reassuring support we have received following my husband's cancer surgery. The flexibility and responsiveness has been brilliant and given me great peace of mind. The staff are so cheerful and helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Highly recommended.

From our first point of contact with the company, we have found them to be very friendly and understanding.
Acceptable to change in times and days when required.
The carers who mainly visit my wife is more than understanding, more importantly, she enjoys her company.
Not much more to say other than we are satisfied with the service to date.

Very happy with the overall care.
My mum has started to build a good relationship with certain carers.
The manager keeps in touch and actively finds activities that would be good for my mum to attend and also that carers can take her to.

The staff ensure they keep in contact with us and have reviews to make sure my mum is getting the care she requires.

Overall Experience
We have been pleasantly surprised by the care taken in assessing and supporting our mum
over the past six months.
The initial assessment was thorough and considered with follow-up to review if all was working satisfactorily.
Our mum's needs and preferences were taken into account to make small adjustments to care provided and the team were helpful and flexible to add extra support to enable us, as sole family carers, to take a holiday.
It has enabled us to feel confident that the agency will be able to support our needs going forward.

My father's been having you care for him for over a year. On many occasions, the carers have been late, with no phone call to him to tell him. But, when the staff arrive they treat him with utmost respect, caring for all his needs. Thank you.

Sarah Fish

Sarah is one of the owners of Bluebird Care Nottingham, joining the family business in 2013. Her working background was in business and finance, which has supported her in her role as Office Manager. Sarah is very passionate about supporting her customers with the high standards of care she would expect to receive herself or for her family as and when the time comes, whilst ensuring her staff are supported throughout their time with Bluebird Care.

“As a family business, our aim is to be able to support our customers to remain independent in their own homes for as long as possible.  For some of our customers, the carers they see may be the only company they receive, so we want to ensure we are supporting them in the ways they need, whether it be supporting them with a bath a cup of tea and a natter, it makes all the difference!”

Alan Pankhurst

Bluebird Care Nottingham is owned and managed by Director Alan Pankhurst. Alan was made redundant in December 2010 from Lincolnshire County Council where he spent 10 years as their Research Manager investigating demographic changes and their impact on services.

Overall, Alan has had 30 years of managerial experience mainly in the public sector responsible for recruiting and training staff, marketing services and managing significant department and team budgets. He was also employed as a regional management consultant responsible for efficiency studies into local offices performance, budget management and staffing levels.  

Whilst Alan has no direct work experience in the care sector, he has, over the last 7 years, worked very closely with the Director of Public Health and the Primary Care Trust on their joint needs assessment so understands the problems and challenges facing the sector. He is passionate about providing good quality care and making a difference in people’s lives.

Emma joined our Bluebird Care team in May 2023 as our registered manager. Emma has a wealth of experience in the care sector and has worked in different areas, including palliative care where she is most passionate about. She has worked both in care assistant roles and managerial roles over her time within the care sector and understands the importance of high care standards.
