My mum collapsed in her home on 12 Jan 2026, she is 91 years of age. She was lay in her hallway until a 999 ambulance arrived. The paramedics took her to hospital at approximately 8am. Her usual morning care visit was scheduled for approximately 9am.
I stayed at mums home to let her carer know as only ' out of hours' team available at this time. I did everything I possibly could have at this time?
I kept her Care team updated throughout the following hours/days until a decision was made the following day to 'suspend' her care until further notice as she was eventually admitted.
Mum remained in hospital over 2 weeks.
I could not believe our CARING organisation CHARGED mum for the 48hrs care following her collapse as 48 HRS NOTICE WAS NOT GIVEN TO CANCEL CARE!!!!!!! POLICY IT APPEARED!!!!
Policy since revised to 7 DAYS NOTICE!!!!!! So a 999 call and hospitalisation can ultimately cost hundreds!!! Please beware if considering this Company!

All the carers who visit have proved to be an asset for the company, always willing to make each visit a pleasure. Sometimes they seem to be under pressure to complete their visit to enable them to go to their next appointment, because travel time seems unrealistic.
I have found the carers to be very helpful in looking after mum and dad who both have dementia. They bring structure and organisation into the day. Sometimes they arrive at the back end or outside the call slot and this can cause upset due to dementia sufferers looking for routine and timescales. I know it can be difficult when travelling to multiple addresses in different areas and that they are working to try and resolve this issue. They also enable me to have some down time as it is sometimes exhausting when supporting two parents with varying degrees of dementia.
The carers were an enormous help and support to my husband and myself over the last 20 months. They were always kind, thoughtful, caring and great cooks too! I recommended them to a friend who is also very happy with their help.
For the past 2 years Helping Hands have supplied carers for my husband who has dementia. They are very caring, capable patient centered individuals who adapt themselves to the needs of my husband. I have complete confidence in them and I am happily able to go out or stay in. My husband cooks with them, which he enjoys and we benefit greatly from the results. There have been a few changes in management which haven't really affected us. We have been very lucky to get such reliable excellent carers.
The care is invaluable for me to remain at home. The staff keep me clean and make sure I am fed throughout the day. Staff prompt me to take my medication. Staff do all the things i can no longer manage myself. I am encouraged to continue to do all the hobbies and activities that I used to do with their support and guidance.
The carers that attend me are all very pleasant and we always have a chuckle together before they leave. They all show patience and understanding which enables me to continue living at home. I would recommend this company.
Nothing is too much trouble for them.
I am confident my Mum is receiving the best of care from Helping Hands Home Care. Although one of the more expensive care providers, it shows in the quality of staff. Flexibility for additional, temporary support is important to us and we have found Helping Hands to be very responsive.
Hi Hazel, thank you so much for leaving such a great review! Your kind words are very much appreciated and it is our pleasure to provide care for your mum. Best wishes.
Having struggled to find appropriate care for my father, the manager at Helping Hands went out of her way to find a suitable solution. It's early days but very impressed especially with the manager and her staff.
They are helpful, courteous and all very pleasant. Nothing is too much trouble.
Above all I feel safe and that the company itself cares.
