My mum, was left with no food, or hot drink, the commutation between the carers was zero because of language barrier, alot had attitude issues, she's diabetic my mum, and can't get out of bed, and now care connections have let her go saying she was racist, which is untrue, it doesn't matter about skin
colour as long as you're able to the job, they couldn't even make a slice of toast or a sandwich, if these care companies take on cheap labour, they could at least have the decency to put them through cooking classes and to teach them proper English, the management and daughter, are very ignorant, arrogant, along has they are ok, my mum should of reported them to C.Q.C
Months ago, but she kept putting it off, and now care connections stab her the back, saying she's racist!!!!! Shame on the management and her daughter, they should hang there heads in shame, anyone thinking of going to this company I strongly believe you looks else where if you want proper care for your loved ones.

As a care charity, we have an unwavering commitment to providing high-quality care while ensuring the safety, dignity, and respect of our front-line workers. Our staff work tirelessly to support those in need, and we will not tolerate any form of racism, discrimination, or abuse directed towards them.Due to repeated incidents of racism against our staff, we have made the difficult decision to cease providing care in this particular situation. This decision reflects our commitment to protecting our workers and upholding the values of respect and equality that are central to our organisation.

I think the caring staff at caring connections are exemplary there are certain memebers of the caring team i have become close to that i would rate 5 stars. Other staff are very good at their job i have no complaints whatsoever. I would like to make a special mention to thr manager of wigan branch
who assisted me in getting a fire door fitted in my bedroom as my room was a fire trap. She is a lovely woman very helpful. Its through her the fire brigade visited and im in the middle of having it fitted as she has gone above and beyond.

Caring Connections have been looking after my mum since January 2024. Her carers have always treated her with the utmost professionalism and dignity.
Despite her dementia, Mum always recognises her carers as they have built up an excellent working relationship with each other. Additionally, myself
and my sister have also formed friendships with them.
All Caring Connections staff do a fantastic job, often in difficult circumstances. We are blessed to have them involved in Mum's care.

We have had a lot of staff come through my dad's door and I can honestly say that I've not had a problem with any staff they have on a couple of occasions been really late for his morning call but know is all sorted he has took to a few carers more than others but I think it's just his dignity more
than anything else he prefers older than younger carers even though they all do a good job looking after him so thanks to all of you staff how's been out to look after him

The carers, three of them especially are amazing with mum and dad (who has recently joined the service). Nothing is too much. They put my mum at ease when she has difficult days, reassuring her and making her feel valued. They are always so professional and my parents look forward to their visit. Despite
a few start up issues last year they are superb!
They always contact myself or my sister if they need anything. They are amazing and we as a family would be lost without them. I always feel at ease when I know they are going to visit.
They always show my parents nothing but dignity and respect.

Your care team took care of my husband for 5 weeks, during which time they were lovely to my dying husband. So patient and gentle with him, talking softly and putting him at ease at difficult moments. I would definitely recommend this company as they made his last days very comfortable. Thank you.

I have recently begun a care package for my father-in-law and have been extremely pleased with how it is going so far. Two members of staff came to meet us and finalize arrangements. They both made this process easier and showed empathy towards my father-in-law which made me relax and trust that they,
along with the other carers, would enrich my father-in-law's day All the carers that have visited so far have been amazing.

Do not have this company anywhere near your loved ones. Totally inept managed company, always turning up late sometimes not at all. Regularly arriving very late in the mornings to tend to my Wife. Other occasions arriving at 13.15 in the afternoon for a morning visit.

Hi
We recently were transferred by the Council to Caring Connections Wigan Branch and the transfer from day one have been excellent.
The care and attention that my wife is getting is first class.
The carers are all very polite, helpful and very efficient in their daily duties.
I cannot praise
them enough after the issues we had with the previous care company. They treat my wife with total respect considering all the various illnesses plus her vascular dementia issues. And another first for us was the afternoon before the carers started we had a visit from the care coordinator and a gentleman from the Wigan Office to introduce the company and discuss my wife's requirements and the gentleman went over health and safety issues this put my mind at total ease.
I would very strongly recommend Caring Connections Wigan 100%

Don’t touch them. They are a shocking service. My dad went for almost 24 hours with no care. Thankfully family picked up on it so tried to contact, but had to leave a message which they ignore and never got back, turn up at 12 for his morning visit and then 30 min later for his lunch visit. At times,
he is supposed to have medication, turn up with phones that are broken or not charged so have not a clue what plan is or what medication he takes, the other company was bad but these are worse, in the fact that they never respond to anything.
Reply from Paul Growney, CEO at Caring Connections Wigan

Hi, I am so sorry for the above issues however I need to address them on our behalf. In regards to the 24hr no care, one of carers did attend on both occasions however nobody was in the property at the time and there was no key safe nor any answer from next of kin contacted. This was taken from our carer reports and documented on systems. I am aware on Easter weekend there was an issue with call times being close and all of these issues were rectified by the office, this being due to high levels of staff sickness at the time. We have not had any report of the phone issues however as you have now raised it we will look into this, also the office and on call is always available if phones are inaccessible.
I am sorry again for your experience however I must say all the issues have been addressed by the team. Your father's care is our utmost priority and any issues will also be rectified on the day where possible.

Appalling service. No continuity with the times that they come out to give my daughter her medication. They have turned up at 2 pm to give her her morning meds which should be at 8 am. They have given her the wrong medication. They have left the safe open twice, which on one occasion ended up with my
daughter overdosing. They have said the code to the safe out loud to each other, which my daughter then wrote down. Had it not been for her sister being there and changing the code, god knows what could have happened. I have phoned and complained on multiple occasions, and just get told “sorry”, not good enough. My last phone call was on Tuesday evening and requested a senior manager to phone me. Still waiting.

We are so sorry you feel this way and there have been issues regarding the service provided to your daughter. As a care charity your daughter's wellbeing is our utmost priority and I believe about some of the issues you mention such as ‘overdosing’ this was not with our organisation and is an allegation to the company who provided your daughter's care prior to April 4th.
As you know, there is an ongoing concern issue within your daughter’s call relating to an individual who has been within your daughter’s property whilst our carers attend the call. Our priority is the safety of your daughter and the safety of our carers which has been raised to yourself. We have spoken on the phone and a member of the team has also spoken with your daughter.
Our carers have a fond relationship with your daughter and want to provide the best service possible.

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.054 for Caring Connections Wigan is calculated as follows: ( (39 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (3 Poors x 2) + (9 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 56 Ratings = 4.054

    The 5 points relating to the number of Positive Reviews for Caring Connections Wigan is based on 8 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as follows: 3 + 0.5 + 0.5 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 4.8
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Home Care Provider does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
