Rainbow carers looked after my father, they were amazing with him. He was sceptical at first, but they gained his trust and he learnt to rely and trust them. They suggested things that would help, certain medications etc. They were company for him in his last few months that I know he appreciated.

I cannot speak too highly of the service received from Rainbow Health. They have provided help for my husband which is exemplary.
His needs are many, and each task has been done with great kindness and understanding.
He had a fall in his care home, was admitted to A&E and when ready, later that day, for discharge, they felt unable to accept him back.

Rainbow was contacted by the hospital and arrived at our home, just as the ambulance did at midnight. They are continuing to provide one-to-one 24-hour service and I will be forever grateful. I have no idea how I would have coped without their help. I would recommend their services to anyone.

All the Rainbow staff, without exception, displayed professionalism and compassion. They genuinely helped my family through the last few weeks of my Mum’s life. And even after her death, they have continued to be helpful and sensitive in their dealings with me.

Many of the following comments are not meant to be critical as they probably would not apply so much or at all to someone not suffering from dementia.
Although very grateful that I was getting some help, I found having many different carers difficult. First I had to explain what was needed and how our shower worked. Also, they each had to learn what my husband could or couldn’t do for himself. If he was unsure of how something was being done he would call for me so I was not able to rest or get on with something else uninterruptedly.
It disturbed my husband also that the time of arrival varied without warning. I do understand the many reasons why this may have happened.
However, the carers who came were all pleasant and gentle and kind and do a good job with sometimes very demanding clients. The management was responsive and understanding whenever I had the need to deal with them.

The help I received did enable us to cope at home until it became clear that this was no longer feasible.

Rainbow Health & Care agency stepped in to help as my husband was discharged from the hospital without any prior notice. The hospital had advised Rainbow that we would need immediate help three times a day, and they responded with helpful, caring people. The week was very stressful for both my husband and me, but the carers coped with the situation and with my tearful sessions. They washed or showered my husband, shaved him and dressed him, changing him when necessary. They helped him start walking, and his mobility has improved enormously during the past week. I can't say how grateful I am for the care the staff have shown both of us - particularly me. We are now in a much better position than we were a week ago and are now able to manage once again. Thank you, and best wishes to everyone - a very positive experience.

Overall Experience

We were directed to Rainbow Health & Care by our hospital, upon the discharge of my husband as they considered considerable help with care was initially needed. I was visited by the home care provider, who explained all they would help with and their fees. I was happy to take them on to provide the care my husband needed. Our experience was positive and we have no complaints at all. If a member of staff had been unavoidably delayed, we were always informed in good time and, if necessary, another member of staff came in their place. Staff were always respectful and thoughtful. I was very stressed initially and having carers come to help with toileting, washing, bathing, shaving and dressing was a great help. Now the situation has greatly improved and my husband has made very good progress with his mobility over the past few days, so much so that we can now manage without the extra help. Overall, a positive experience of home care.
