With over 15 years of experience in health and social care, I’m proud to be the Registered Care Manager at Carinyo Care. Throughout my career, I have supported individuals and led teams across a variety of care settings, always with the belief that good care should empower people, protect their dignity and enable them to live life on their own terms.

I am a qualified leader in care, holding a Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Leadership and Management, a Skills for Care Registered Manager Member, a Dignity Champion and a Dementia Friend. I am passionate about continuing to learn, develop and use best practice to improve the experiences of both the people we support and the carers who support them.

Person-centred care is at the heart of my approach. I strongly believe that receiving care should never mean losing independence, choice or control. Whether that means supporting someone to regain skills they thought they had lost, balancing positive risk with personal choice, adapting communication, or simply taking the time to understand what really matters to someone, the person should always remain at the centre of their care.

I’m particularly passionate about dignity, dementia care, empowerment and compassionate leadership. I want our carers to feel valued, listened to and confident in their roles, because a supported and knowledgeable care team is fundamental to providing outstanding care. I am committed to developing our workforce, embracing the principles of the Care Workforce Pathway and creating a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Building strong relationships is equally important to me. I work closely with the people we support, their families, our carers and other professionals to ensure care is safe, responsive and genuinely shaped around each individual.

Carinyo means “affection” and “care”, and those values reflect exactly what I want people to experience from our service: warmth, compassion, respect and genuine human connection.

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum and actively involved in my local community. For me, both personally and professionally, it comes back to the same things – people, relationships and having the opportunity to make a positive difference in someone’s life.

I spent more than 25 years in financial services, most of them as an Independent Financial Adviser, helping people plan for the possibility of needing care later in life. I made sure my clients received every penny they were entitled to from the State, and I wasn’t shy about challenging Local Authorities or the NHS when their assessment of someone’s needs didn’t quite stack up. Protecting clients’ assets and ensuring fair treatment was always at the heart of what I did.

Of course, care isn’t something that only happens to “other people”. With more than one in four people in the UK likely to need some form of care, the chances were high that my own family might one day need support. With me only a few years away from joining the second-largest age group needing care (those aged 75+), it really brought the issue close to home. The largest group, of course, is those aged 85 and over.

After years of hearing first-hand from my clients about their experiences with live-in care, and having studied the market myself, I realised that if my wife or I ever needed support, I would want nothing less than the very best. That thought became the spark for something bigger: I decided to set up my own company.

I surrounded myself with exceptional people—business partners with deep clinical and regulatory expertise, and a Registered Manager who shares our commitment to outstanding care. Together, we set about finding carers who were not only highly skilled but genuinely compassionate. I’m proud to say we’ve achieved exactly that. Our carers are in high demand from service users and are well-regarded by Local Authorities who commission our services.

To say I’m proud of what we’ve built would be an understatement.

Whether I’ll one day need the support of Carinyo Care myself… well, only time will tell.

I’ve been part of the team for 8 months now and feel incredibly proud to have passed my probation with flying colours. For me, caring is about compassion, dignity, and truly seeing the person in front of you. I love building meaningful connections with my clients and making a real difference in their daily lives. Sometimes it’s the smallest things – listening, respecting routines, cooking a favourite meal, or simply having a chat – that mean the most.

One of my proudest moments was being invited to my client’s grandson’s bar mitzvah. It meant so much to feel trusted and welcomed as part of the family. That’s what care is about to me – genuine relationships and heartfelt support.

Growing up with my younger sister, who has cerebral palsy, showed me the life-changing impact of good care. Supporting older people to live comfortably and with dignity feels especially meaningful, and I feel privileged to do this work.

Outside of work, I’m a proud mum to three boys. I love cooking, karaoke, and relaxing with a good TV show – and I bring that same warmth and positive energy into my caring role every day.

In the late 1970s, I began building a career in financial planning and investment management. During the early 1980s, I also became involved with a number of charities, primarily within the health and welfare sector. I have been an Alzheimer’s Society Dementia Friend for many years and spent over 14 years as a Dementia Champion.

These experiences inspired me to broaden the support I offered to my older clients beyond traditional financial services. Over the years, this developed into providing independent practical guidance, advocacy and support across many aspects of later life, including health and welfare, hospital discharge, social and community care, personal wellbeing and the day-to-day management of affairs.

Throughout my work, I have always encouraged people to recognise that growing older, or experiencing increasing frailty, does not mean giving up independence or quality of life. I believe people should be supported to live as fulfilling a life as possible, with dignity, comfort, choice and security.

This has involved working closely with individuals and their families, healthcare professionals, carers, attorneys, specialist later-life lawyers and financial advisers to help people navigate what can often be a complicated and overwhelming period of life.

Around ten years ago, I shared my thoughts and aspirations with my longstanding business associate and friend, Philip Braunstein. Having had similar experiences, Philip shared my passion for improving the support available to people in later life.

Through working closely with individuals and families, we became increasingly aware of the challenges people faced when trying to find high-quality care in the community. We also shared a strong belief in the importance of companionship and meaningful human connection in helping to prevent loneliness and isolation.

From this, the idea for Carinyo Care was born.

Our vision was to develop a live-in care service that went beyond simply meeting someone's care needs. We wanted to provide compassionate, dependable and genuinely person-centred support that enables people to remain in their own homes, surrounded by the people, possessions, routines and memories that matter to them.

As Carinyo Care has continued to develop, Philip and I have been delighted to welcome Pamela Campbell as our Operations Manager and CQC Registered Manager. Pam shares our passion for high-quality, compassionate care and, together with our wider team, is helping us continue to develop Carinyo Care while keeping dignity, independence and the individual at the heart of everything we do.
