I am a doctor by profession, with years of experience as a Consultant Radiologist at the NHS. My shift to home care represents a significant new phase in my career. Coming from a family of medical professionals—including my husband and three sisters—I am acutely aware of the challenges faced by hospitals today, such as expanding waiting lists and a growing elderly population. I strongly uphold family values and believe that, under the current strains on our healthcare system, home care is essential, allowing individuals to receive personalized care in the comfort of their own homes.
After thorough research, I chose to join Visiting Angels, an organization renowned for its dedication to making a positive impact on lives and for providing families with the reassurance that their loved ones are receiving the highest level of support, wellness, and care at home. Throughout my 14-year career in the care sector, I started in domiciliary care in the community where I knew this would be my career path after being a carer for a grandparent who had vascular dementia at the time.
After having my first role I then moved on to working in nursing homes, retirement villages and the ambulance service to increase my experience and knowledge in the care sector and completed my NVQ level 3 in 2021 where I left my role and joined Visiting Angels Northamptonshire in October 2022.
Since joining I have developed more extensive skills and built on my area of knowledge to levels that I never knew were possible.
My role is so diverse and where no two days are the same, this keeps my days varied and full of optimism.
I started my journey with Visiting Angels in October 2020 as a carer.
I had worked in care before for the past 5 years but never worked anywhere where the staff were appreciated and treated in a wonderful way.
After I finished my training and started my shadowing I knew Visiting Angels was the place I wanted to be.
Throughout the years I became Senior Carer, Team Leader and then Head of People in July 2023. I love my role in supporting all staff and clients and promoting their independence to remain safe and well cared for in their own homes is the reason I do this role.
In May 2023 I completed my NVQ level 3 where I will continue to progress in my career and develop my knowledge and skills further.
