I am actively engaged with a charitable organisation that delivers a range of community initiatives, including food donation drives, weekly cultural and wellbeing sessions for adults, and annual events designed to foster social connection. The charity is currently expanding its provision for older people, with plans to introduce companionship cafés, seated exercise classes, knitting circles, and board game groups, each aimed at reducing isolation and promoting meaningful engagement. My practical experience is further shaped by active volunteering with organisations such as Age UK, Alzheimer Society and Rennie Grove Peace Hospice, where I continue to build insight into frontline care delivery, community support, and the importance of dignity-led practice.

I have been working in the care sector for 20 years, I have covered all aspects of care including learning disabilities, mental health, & challenging behaviour, physical disability, palliative care. I have also worked on a one -to one basis with complex care needs. I started my journey in the health and social care setting when I was 22 years old supporting a family member who was diagnosed with a life limiting health condition, I then progressed in to working for a care company where i worked my way through the ranks from care assistant to senior care assistant, care coordinator, Branch Manager, Nominated Individual, I have gained new skills and knowledge that has helped me to better understand individual needs, every person is different and to ensure all people are treated with respect and dignity. Working in the health care setting has taught me many skills and also has taught me to accept that people are different and also the need to recognise and respect diversity in terms of race, ethnicity, disability, religion, gender and sexuality. In my previous role as a nominated individual I supported with personalised care plans, risk assessments, I also supported with compliance, record keeping and KPI, In my new role as a registered manager I will be responsible for safe recruiting, training providing a safe service through individual risk assessments, personalised care plans, auditing, KPI, compliance and record keeping.
