All of the care experts, managers and directors at Bluebird Care Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire are members of the PVG scheme, and all employees are recruited safely and robustly as detailed in their recruitment policy.
Care experts are trained to a minimum of SVQ level 2, and they deliver in-house training and development to ensure they are consistently working to the organisation’s values and ethos.
Care experts have the option of studying towards their SVQ 3 onwards, depending on their role and the funding available. As well as this, Bluebird Care Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire offer access to e-learning services through Grey Matter Learning. They are also happy to consider requests for certified training I.e. First aid.
Their face-to-face training topics are Adult Support and Protection, Medication, Moving and Positioning, Basic Life Support. Their eLearning training topics include Adults with Incapacity, Dignity and Respect, Information Governance, Infection Prevention and Control, Health and Safety, COSHH, Fire Safety awareness, Food hygiene and preparation and Complaints Process. More specialised training is available as required with business needs.
Their care experts receive regular supervision throughout their probationary period and beyond, where continual professional development is reviewed, and an annual training and development plan is produced. They attend regular staff meetings. They are expected to keep up to date with good practice and meet the codes of conduct required of them. All care experts are taken through the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration process during their induction with Bluebird Care Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire and are supported with their continuous professional development.
Care experts are trained to explain to customers what they are going to do and will seek consent before care is delivered.
