Job Summary

Gracious Care is looking for a kind, experienced and reliable Female Live-In Carer to support a husband and wife who are both living with dementia in their own home for a period of 6 weeks at a time with 4-6 weeks off.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys providing companionship, promoting independence and supporting people to remain comfortable and safe in familiar surroundings.

About the Role

As a Live-In Carer, you will provide person-centred support to both customers, helping them maintain their routines, independence and quality of life.

Your role will include:

  • Providing companionship and emotional support.

  • Supporting with personal care where required.

  • Assisting with dressing and maintaining personal hygiene.

  • Supporting with medication in line with the care plan and training.

  • Preparing and supporting with meals and drinks.

  • Encouraging independence and involvement in everyday activities.

  • Supporting with household tasks such as light cleaning and laundry.

  • Accompanying the customers on outings and appointments where required.

  • Supporting with shopping and other day-to-day tasks.

  • Monitoring changes in health, wellbeing or behaviour and reporting concerns appropriately.

  • Maintaining accurate and timely care records.

  • Working alongside the office team, family members and other professionals involved in the customers' care.

  • Providing reassurance and support when either customer becomes confused or unsettled.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Kind, patient and compassionate.

  • Reliable and trustworthy.

  • Calm and reassuring, particularly when supporting someone experiencing confusion or distress.

  • Confident supporting people living with dementia.

  • Respectful of the customers' home, routines and choices.

  • A good communicator.

  • Able to work independently while also being part of a wider care team.

  • Comfortable supporting a husband and wife as individuals, recognising that each person may have different needs.

  • Flexible and able to adapt to changes in the customers' needs.

  • Experienced in live-in care or dementia care is desirable.

You will understand that dementia care is about seeing the person behind the diagnosis, maintaining dignity and independence, and providing reassurance when things become difficult.

  • Avalibility to attend a 2 day Induction Course.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Care Certificate preferred but not essential
  • UK Driving License and Care - preferred not essential
  • Experience with Dementia is required
  • Live In Care experience is required
