Job Summary

Ella's Homecare is committed to delivering high-quality, compassionate, and person-centred care to individuals in their own homes. We pride ourselves on maintaining excellent standards of care, professionalism, reliability, and strong relationships with our clients, their families, and our care teams.

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced, proactive, and hands-on Field Care Supervisor to join our growing team in North West London.

This is a varied role that requires someone who is organised, confident, professional, and genuinely passionate about delivering outstanding care.

We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable carrying out supervisory and administrative duties as they are providing hands-on care when required.

Key Responsibilities

Client Assessments, Reviews and Care Planning

  • Conduct comprehensive initial assessments for new clients, identifying their individual care needs, preferences, risks, and desired outcomes.

  • Carry out regular client reviews and reassessments to ensure care packages remain appropriate and responsive to changing needs.

  • Develop, write, implement, and regularly update detailed, person-centred care plans.

  • Complete and review risk assessments, ensuring appropriate measures are in place to protect clients and staff.

  • Ensure all care documentation is accurate, comprehensive, professional, and maintained in accordance with company policies and CQC requirements.

  • Liaise effectively with clients, families, healthcare professionals, and other relevant agencies.

  • Identify and promptly report any changes in clients' conditions or care needs.

Staff Supervision, Spot Checks and Appraisals

  • Conduct regular field-based spot checks to monitor the quality of care delivered by care workers.

  • Carry out staff supervision, competency assessments, and performance appraisals.

  • Observe care practices and provide constructive feedback, guidance, and support.

  • Monitor staff compliance with care plans, medication procedures, infection prevention and control, safeguarding, and company policies.

  • Identify training and development needs and support staff in maintaining high standards.

  • Address performance concerns professionally and promptly, escalating issues where necessary.

  • Support new care workers through induction, shadowing, and competency assessments.

  • Promote a positive, professional, and supportive working environment.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure care delivery meets Ella's Homecare standards and the expectations of the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

  • Carry out quality assurance visits and gather feedback from clients and their families.

  • Support investigations into complaints, incidents, safeguarding concerns, and service delivery issues.

  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, reviews, spot checks, supervisions, and appraisals.

  • Work closely with management to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

  • Promote dignity, respect, independence, confidentiality, and person-centred care.

Hands-On Care and Shift Cover – Essential Requirement

This is a hands-on supervisory position, not solely an office-based or administrative role.

The successful candidate must be willing and able to:

  • Cover care shifts when required due to staff sickness, absence, emergencies, or operational needs.

  • Provide direct personal care and support to clients when necessary.

  • Step in to support care workers during challenging situations or when additional assistance is required.

  • Respond flexibly to the changing needs of the service.

  • Demonstrate a positive, team-focused attitude and lead by example.

IMPORTANT: Willingness to cover care shifts is an essential requirement of this position. Candidates who are unwilling to provide hands-on care or cover shifts when reasonably required should not apply.

We believe that an effective Field Care Supervisor leads by example and understands the practical challenges faced by care workers.

Essential Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Previous experience in domiciliary care, preferably in a senior care or supervisory position.

  • Experience conducting client assessments, reviews, and developing person-centred care plans.

  • A good understanding of CQC regulations, safeguarding, and care quality standards.

  • Excellent IT skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office, email, electronic care planning systems, and digital care management platforms.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally with clients, families, colleagues, and external professionals.

  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

  • A professional, smart, and presentable appearance, representing Ella's Homecare positively during client visits and meetings.

  • A calm, compassionate, approachable, and respectful manner.

  • The confidence to manage difficult conversations, address concerns, and make appropriate decisions.

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • A flexible, reliable, proactive, and solution-focused approach.

  • A genuine willingness to support colleagues and provide direct care when required.

Qualifications and Additional Requirements

  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care, or equivalent, is desirable.

  • Previous experience supervising care staff is highly desirable.

  • Experience using electronic care planning and care management systems is essential.

  • Ideally based in North West London or within a reasonable commuting distance.

  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo appropriate pre-employment checks, including an Enhanced DBS check.

What We Are Looking For

We are particularly interested in someone who:

  • Takes ownership of their responsibilities and follows tasks through to completion.

  • Is confident conducting assessments and producing high-quality care plans independently.

  • Maintains excellent communication with management, clients, and staff.

  • Is not afraid to take initiative or resolve problems.

  • Understands that providing excellent care sometimes means stepping in personally.

  • Is dependable, punctual, well-presented, and professional.

  • Is committed to maintaining high standards rather than simply completing tasks.

  • Is passionate about supporting both clients and care workers.

Why Join Ella's Homecare?

  • Opportunity to make a meaningful difference to clients and their families.

  • A varied role combining field supervision, care planning, quality assurance, and direct care.

  • Opportunity to contribute to the development and improvement of care services.

  • A supportive team environment where professionalism, compassion, and accountability are valued.
