Were tasked to provide waking night care for my mother with severe dementia in order to keep her safe in her own home. The first issue was with a carer who frequently argued with my mum and, on more than one occasion, fell asleep and a mutual agreement was reached to provide a new carer. On
reporting this back to social services they neglected to mention the falling asleep aspect, which is a severe safeguarding issue.
2 weeks ago they dropped my mother's care package after having reports from a carer that my mum was "too demanding", "argumentative", "abusive" and that my mother had scratched a carer (mum has very long nails) - these are all classic signs of dementia and any staff working for an agency providing dementia care should be adequately trained to deal with these aspects.
I requested a written report as to why the care had been dropped but this was refused and I was told that they would be having no further dealings with me. I am, therefore, left with no choice but to leave a bad review.
