Overall Experience

When I have a new assistant supporting me, I want them to take the time to get to know me and understand what is important to me. For example, I pray according to my religion, and I want to be responsible for deciding where and when I pray. Sometimes I can also feel nervous when meeting new people, so it is important that my assistant understands this and gives me time to feel comfortable.
I also like having different Personal Assistants depending on the activity or place I am going to. I think it is important that the Personal Assistant is suitable for the activity. For example, when I went to Alton Towers, my Personal Assistants did not go on a water activity with me because one could not swim and the timing was not suitable for the other. The same idea applies to activities such as hiking. In general, I would like to have a Personal Assistant with different skills and experience, so I can have someone who is suitable for the particular activity I want to do.

Overall Experience

The carer from Red Apple Care, who has been supporting my sibling with care needs, has been outstanding during the difficult transition into the care home. She works closely with care home staff to ensure tailored support, while also taking my sibling out for enriching activities like visits to parks and garden centres. Her dedication and generosity with her time have made a huge difference, not just for my sibling but for our entire family. As my sibling's Health and Finance LPA living abroad, I've found her to be an invaluable source of care, communication, and reassurance. We are truly grateful.
