Hi Bob, thank you so much for taking the time to write a review of Allcare and for the kind words you have written. Our Shrewsbury team have been visiting your mother for quite a few years and I know how well they get on with your mum and dad. Can I take this opportunity to thank you for your support and understanding of Allcare. Sometimes we can't always do things exactly how the service users or family think it should be done, often this is for safety reasons. Our philosophy is not that something can't be done, but how can it be done differently and safely. It has been a difficult year for our staff, they continued to deliver care throughout the pandemic not only putting their own health at risk but possibly that of their own family, they also carry the burden of accidentally passing it on to vulnerable people they were trying to protect. Happily, not one of our clients has contracted coronavirus. Thank you again, I will make sure all the staff who visit receive a copy of your review.

Thank you both for your very kind words of appreciation, we will pass them onto the careworker’s who visit you. I know it won’t be new to them because you have always sung their praises and let them know how well they do, what you do and say makes a sometimes difficult job that bit easier. It is over 4 years since the previous care company finished and we first started our visits to support you, it is from listening to what people say about the service they received from previous agencies and from staff who have left and returned to us that tells us that we must be doing the right thing.
Hi John, Thank you very much for your review and positive things you have said about us. We are not a company who advertise much and we very much rely on what we think is the best form of advert, ‘word of mouth’. Sorry I missed you at our last Afternoon Tea Event but I was double booked in my other role as a Dementia Friends Champion. The office staff said it was good to talk to you and that it is always nice to be able to put faces to the people they talk to on the phone; they also said a big THANK YOU for the biscuits.
Thank you very much for your very kind words, we will pass on what you have said to all the care workers who visit your mother, it is always nice to be told when you are doing something right. Thank you too for mentioning the work of the office staff; it is the face of the carers that most people see but for everything to work well it needs a real team effort.
It is not uncommon for people to be initially apprehensive about receiving help; after all, they have spent so many years being able to look after themselves and, in more cases than not, looking after others as well. We have heard from other families how attitudes can change from one of initial reluctance to really looking forward to seeing their carer once they get to know them.

We are however disappointed to learn that a small number of carers who visit you smell of smoke. We can only apologise for this, we pride ourselves on the high standard of our carers and the care they provide, unfortunately, there is no excuse for those that visit you to smell of smoke. We do expect the carers who do smoke to empathise how working in close proximity with people, delivering all aspects of care means that their personal hygiene is of extreme importance. We will therefore, be readdressing this issue by sending a memo out to all staff and placing a notice in our monthly staff newsletter. We will also ensure this is discussed at our next full staff meeting.
Despite this, we are over the moon to see you would be likely to recommend our service and are happy with the care you receive.

It was clear that the staff didn't just come into her house and do whatever they were told to do, but came in and did a full assessment of mum and her surroundings, feeding back if there were any areas of concern. Given that my brother and myself live more than two and a half hours away, it was such a comfort to know that she was in such caring and capable hands.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback.
We are understandably disappointed to hear you are not completely happy in regards to your mother's evening calls.
I understand these times were agreed on commencing your mother's care, however, it sounds like you are no longer happy with these arrangements.
As an agency, we pride ourselves on being very proactive in responding to the views and needs of our service users and their families. We would, therefore, like to review the time to one that suits you and your mother better.
In regards to weekend calls, I have been informed we originally took on the care package without weekends but this was later something we accommodated. On one occasion since starting the weekend visits we regrettably had to send one carer instead of two, these arrangements were made with your brother who was happy to step in due to a high level of staff sickness. This is not a decision we take lightly or something we are often required to do, however, in this instance, we very much appreciated his offer of assistance.
We are very pleased to see that other than the above, you are pleased with the overall care your mother is receiving and you would be likely to recommend us.
The carers inform us it is a delight to visit your mum and often leave with a smile on their faces after some friendly banter and a good old giggle.
Should you have any further issues in the future please feel free to contact our office where we would be more than happy to discuss and arrange alternatives where possible.
