Overall Experience
The carer was with me over 3 nights to give me security. I did not need her nursing care on these occasions.
She was very friendly and on time for the 9 - 9 appointments. I would certainly ask for her availablity in the future.

Ive found Candlelight to be very good always trying to find the right carer for the client which is not an easy job so many things to consider.Its been over a year with Candlelight and they've always done their best to make things right and if there are any problems you can contact someone very quickly to try and put things right.

Candlelight have been caring for my brother one way or another for over 20 years now and some of the carers have gone well beyond their expected roles to help and support him over the years as his needs have changed and have become more demanding. The staff have always been friendly and supportive towards my brother.

Candlelight Care took exceptional care of my wife who had dementia and passed away a year ago. Every single carer was well trained and utterly dedicated to their task. Each of them was remarkably empathetic, willing to listen carefully, and problem solve in difficult situations where necessary. Often they acted as a friend/mentor rather than as a functional carer. Although not requiring medical related help myself, I have continued to use Candlelight for maintenance purposes. Again they have been exemplary, cheerful, fastidious, and well-informed on the tasks on-hand. They are an absolute credit to the organization and as the market-facing part of the company need to be rewarded and reinforced continuously by headquarters

I can only express my appreciation and admiration to all carers and staff at Candlelight Care. They have given us the ability to keep mum in her own home where she feels safe and happy. She classes all of her carers as friends and looks forward to seeing them every day. Nothing has ever been too much trouble and although we make several requests of the office staff, our requests have been dealt with in an instant. I have nothing but praise for this company and all of their staff and would recommend them extremely highly.

Overall Experience

May has been quite a dramatic experience for both my wife and myself with both of us being in hospital at the same time. This combined with other factors including my wife's operation has been very stressful. Throughout all this time Candlelight has been my support and backup and has never failed to adjust timetables etc and gone that extra distance to help. Some Carers have volunteered to come in early when clinical appointmens needed to be fulfilled which again is above and beyond expectations. I cannot thank you enough Candlelight, to have you behind me is a comfort and a major help.

Candlelight visit my aunt every lunchtime to give her a hot meal and help with any jobs around the house. The carers are always within their time slot, helpful, kind willing to help in any way needed and always have time to talk with my aunt.

Nice carers the three I've had have been friendly and cheerful. They are not carers as such but keep my home in some semblance order and clean. They very rarely arrive on time but knuckle and get on with the job

Carers are chatty to the client. Some do very thorough cleaning. Very good service. Admin staff always very helpful.

My dad always looks forward to their visits and has had no complaints about the service provided.

The staff are excellently trained, highly professional and look after my husband in an extremely sympathetic and totally caring manner. clear communication and availability when issues are raised. choice of carer offered. very good standard of carers provided; I can't praise Faith enough, she is superb. Mum had Candlelight Care for only three days in March 2025 but I cannot fault their care and attention to her in those final days. All the staff that attended her, which was three times a day, were polite, friendly and attentive to her needs. She was happy with every one of them that she met. The staff in the office were efficient and responsive and showed empathy during the time that mum sadly passed away. I believe that they all truly cared for her even though it was only for a short time. They most definitely put my mind at ease knowing that they were visiting her throughout the day. I would highly recommend them to anyone that needed care at home in the area that they cover.

I feel that for the money that I have to pay, I am mostly able to do everything myself except putting on my shoes.

Overall Experience

Carers all appear friendly and clean. They support by providing meals and tidying as and when necessary. On occasion, timings are a little close together (service provided for lunch and evening meals). Any issues they find are escalated to us via text or phone calls, and on the odd occasion via the office too. The carers we have met have been friendly and efficient, and Mum enjoys their company.

I feel extremely relieved and reassured that the lovely ladies from Candlelight Care look after my mum. They go in 3 times a day to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner.
They also reassure me that someone will be there to check on her safety.
I can check every time on the app too how she is.

Highly recommend!

Overall Experience

We used the Uckfield branch of Candlelight from October 2020 to October 2023 to provide care for my husband. The team were absolutely amazing; professional, caring and supportive. They fully met the needs of my husband and provided him with the best care that I could have asked for. They listened to what he wanted/needed and followed his care plan and guidelines. They were friendly, and respected being in our home, ensuring they left it clean and tidy. The team enabled me to keep my husband at home, where he wanted to be. We couldn’t have asked for more and I am truly thankful to the Uckfield Team.

Candlelight has been looking after my aunt in her home for over a year in very challenging circumstances. They have always been kind and considerate and responded rapidly to any change in care needs. Overall Experience

All the carers are lovely, they are all very polite and caring. They always ask if there is anything they can do once they have sorted out my legs. Candlelight when first approached were only going to be temporary, but because it has been such a joy to have them come in every day I have decided to keep my care with them long term. I would very highly recommend them to anyone. I'm very, very happy with the carers and the office team.

Penny Johnson Job Title: Branch Manager Joined: 2003
Penny Johnson

Penny has been with Candlelight since 2003, working her way up from care worker with no prior care experience to Branch Manager in 2026! Penny's role is to keep the branch running as smoothly as possible, ensuring that all visits are covered and that the care staff, clients and clients' families remain happy.

Penny was awarded her 20-year-long service award back in 2023.

Penny also won the Unsung Hero award in 2023 and the Outstanding Care Professional award in 2024 at our Company Care Awards.

In her spare time, Penny enjoys going out to eat, visiting local landmarks and attractions, spending time with friends and family and of course going on holidays.

Sarah Brockhurst Job Title: Team Leader Joined: 2006
Sarah Brockhurst

Sarah Brockhurst has worked in the care sector for many years, progressing her career to Team Leader. In this role, Sarah carries out client assessments and client reviews.

Amy Greenland

Roxanne Brown

Roxy oversees the branding and marketing for the whole company, as well as supporting with Recruitment needs, helping us to find new care and support staff to look after our clients in their own homes. In addition to posting new jobs on job sites, social media, and other outlets, she attends recruitment and business fairs and is constantly looking for ways to improve our recruitment process and seek out advertising opportunities.

Before joining Candlelight Care, Roxy provided private care on a 1:1 basis for an individual with Down syndrome and Dementia in Cornwall, and she has also worked as a Field Supervisor for a care company in Torbay, supporting a team of care workers with supervisions, spot-checks and medication sign-offs. So she understands the rewards and challenges of care work!
 

Away from the office, Roxy enjoys spending time with her partner and toddler. Roxy also helps her Father with his flock of sheep!
