Overall Experience

Mum had Candlelight Care for only three days in March 2025 but I cannot fault their care and attention to her in those final days. All the staff that attended her, which was three times a day, were polite, friendly and attentive to her needs. She was happy with every one of them that she met. The staff in the office were efficient and responsive and showed empathy during the time that mum sadly passed away. I believe that they all truly cared for her even though it was only for a short time. They most definitely put my mind at ease knowing that they were visiting her throughout the day. I would highly recommend them to anyone that needed care at home in the area that they cover.

I feel that for the money that I have to pay, I am mostly able to do everything myself except putting on my shoes.

I can't see any way around this.

Overall Experience

Carers all appear friendly and clean. They support by providing meals and tidying as and when necessary. On occasion, timings are a little close together (service provided for lunch and evening meals). Any issues they find are escalated to us via text or phone calls, and on the odd occasion via the office too. The carers we have met have been friendly and efficient, and Mum enjoys their company.

Overall Experience
I feel extremely relieved and reassured that the lovely ladies from Candlelight Care look after my mum. They go in 3 times a day to prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner.
They also reassure me that someone will be there to check on her safety.
I can check every time on the app too how she is.

Highly recommend!

Overall Experience

We used the Uckfield branch of Candlelight from October 2020 to October 2023 to provide care for my husband. The team were absolutely amazing; professional, caring and supportive. They fully met the needs of my husband and provided him with the best care that I could have asked for. They listened to what he wanted/needed and followed his care plan and guidelines. They were friendly, and respected being in our home, ensuring they left it clean and tidy. The team enabled me to keep my husband at home, where he wanted to be. We couldn’t have asked for more and I am truly thankful to the Uckfield Team.

Candlelight has been looking after my aunt in her home for over a year in very challenging circumstances. They have always been kind and considerate and responded rapidly to any change in care needs. Our family are very grateful for their support and would have found it impossible to care for our aunt without them.

Overall Experience

All the carers are lovely, they are all very polite and caring. They always ask if there is anything they can do once they have sorted out my legs. Candlelight when first approached were only going to be temporary, but because it has been such a joy to have them come in every day I have decided to keep my care with them long term. I would very highly recommend them to anyone. I'm very, very happy with the carers and the office team.

I have had Candlelight's assistance since February 2019 and have always found the office staff and carers to be kind, able and helpful. At times when I need extra support, they always try their best to accommodate my needs. Thank you Candlelight.

Very good. I don't have any other experience to compare them to. I need more housework/cleaning done but I can't think quickly and their time is limited. Sometimes I would like them to be more flexible. I like having the same carer for my personal care.

Overall Experience

Most of the carers do a very good job and I have gotten to know them very well. Can't write very well as my arthritis is bad. I look forward to them coming to help me and chat with me. And I look forward to my companion visit. It's good to get outside and see people. I wish it was a bit longer.

Friendly, polite carers who look after my nan and give us a “day off”! Arrive promptly in time, chat to Nan, make tea, whatever she wants. Communication from the office is fabulous, letting us know who’s coming and any changes.

Overall Experience

Most of the carers are very empathetic and good at talking to the client. Some are cleverly frivolous and funny to encourage the client's compliance. Overall, they are pleasant and achieve their objective.

Overall Experience

My brother was going to stay with my uncle for a few days so I cancelled the evening care visits. Storm Eunice came along which meant my brother had to cancel his plans due to transport problems. I called the office and in no time at all the evening visits were reinstated for my uncle. I don't live close by so this was such a relief.

Mandy

Mandy's role is to keep the branch running as smoothly as possible, ensuring that all visits are covered and that the care staff, clients and clients' families remain happy.

Mandy was awarded her 15-year-long service award back in 2018.

Before coming into the care sector, Mandy used to have catering roles within pubs.

Away from her day job, Mandy enjoys relaxing hobbies such as sewing, knitting and doing jigsaws.

Mandy achieved her level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care in 2016

Penny Job Title: Community Team Manager (CTM) Joined: 2003
Penny

As a Community Team Manager, Penny's role is to ensure that clients and staff are happy. She liaises with family, social services and other professionals to ensure that we are providing the best care possible.

Before she joined Candlelight Care, Penny worked in child care.

In her spare time Penny looks after her primary school age son and they love to meet friends for days out to London or to go on National Trust walks.

Roxanne Job Title: Recruitment Officer Joined: 2020
Roxanne

As our Recruitment Officer, Roxanne (Roxy) helps us to find new care and support staff to look after our clients in their own homes. In addition to posting new jobs on job sites, social media, and other outlets, she attends recruitment fairs and is constantly looking for ways to improve our recruitment process. She supports our potential new employees from the moment they apply for a job until they are invited for an interview, answering their questions, chasing up CVs and applications, and sometimes meeting for an informal chat in person or on the phone.

Prior to joining Candlelight Care Roxy provided private care on a 1:1 basis for an individual with Downs Syndrome and Dementia in Cornwall, and she has also worked as a ‘Field Supervisor’ (CTM) for a care company in Torbay, supporting a team of care workers with supervisions, spot-checks and medication sign-offs. So she understands the rewards and challenges of care work!

Away from the office, Roxy is a member of the Mere Amateur Dramatics society, which put on two productions a year in the Spring and Autumn. She has always loved performing and studied Acting at University, where she was able to tour regionally and Internationally in their productions.
