Nightingales is an award-winning live-in care agency providing high-quality, nurse-led care across the UK for more than 20 years.

Nightingales matches people to fully-trained, DBS-checked, experienced live-in carers, who help people to live independently and safely in their own homes under the supervision of specialist nurses.

Nightingales provides as much, or as little, cooking, cleaning, personal care companionship, medication support, shopping, light gardening and exercising as people require.

The people Nightingales are caring for, their relatives and next-of-kin are kept informed about their care with real time updates from digital monitoring software

Nightingales makes sure that people stay with familiar faces throughout their lives, regardless of any changes in their care and support needs.

The company believes that the services they provide should be kept as affordable as possible. By remaining a small, family run company without worrying about shareholder profits, the company has kept staff pay competitive enough to retain skilled employees, whilst regularly reviewing their prices to ensure that costs are reasonable.

I have been so delighted and relieved to have found Nightingales. After receiving dreadful care from a previous agency we were considering putting my mother into a care home as we had no other experience to compare it with. Thankfully, Nightingales have been everything one would expect from live-in
care. The office have excellent communication and when they say they will get something done they do it, and the carers have been just fantastic. They are committed and attentive and actively trying to help my mother recover from a brain abscess and not just sitting on their phones ignoring her. They have also been totally transparent about their costs and I love that they really look after their carers first and foremost, which shows in the level of care you receive from them. They are always suggesting ways to help my mother improve and I can finally trust and relax knowing she is being very well looked after. I would highly recommend this company!

We have received excellent support from Nightingales since my son has been in his own property and needed 24-hour care. Management and carers offer prompt responses to any concerns presented to them. Kind and considerate at all times. No complaints!

We were very pleased with the service we received from Nightingales. Once we'd had a couple of visits from Mum's new carer-to-be, Mum felt more relaxed with her. We were also supported with a visit from the clinical lead to assess Mum's needs and along with the carer who was going to be looking after
Mum. We felt that Mum was being looked after very well, and the carer was gentle but very attentive to Mum's needs and we felt happy that Mum was in her care while we were away. What was fantastic was that it enabled us to have a holiday together as sisters, which we'd not been able to do for the last couple of years as either one of us is looking after Mum. So Nightingales' support was invaluable. We also have a weekly day visit from another wonderful member of their team and we rate her highly too. Thank you Nightingales and your team.

We changed our care providers to Nightingale a few months ago and my Father, who is the main carer for our elderly Mum who has advanced dementia, is delighted with the service.
All the carers are very attentive to Mum and extremely kind and patient.
Wonderful people providing a wonderful service.

you.

I've been with many agencies and Nightingales Golden Care is by far the best I've been with. They listen, they are kind and if I need something adapted to my care plan they don't have a problem with doing it for me. I'm treated like a human. A lot of carers find it difficult to get off the devices and
adjust from previous placement. They are lovely because they take the time to get to know me and listen to me and don't just disregard my feelings and give up on me, that's one of the things I like about them, they treat me like a friend and a client because she gives me advice and helps me when I'm feeling sad. I appreciate that where a lot of my previous agencies would not give two hoots and see the pain I've been through, she looks at the positive in me, not the negative I would recommend Nightingales to any clients that need help and assistance.

The carers who have been visiting my mother for the past 18 months have been very caring and friendly. Mum has come to rely on her regular carers for help and support especially when I am away from home. I cannot fault the carers themselves.
However, I have not found the office/support staff to be
of such a high standard and often have felt them to be lacking.
Reply from Benjamin Chudley, Registered Manager at Nightingales Golden Care Ltd

Thank you for your feedback both positive and constructive. We are pleased to hear our carers provided a great service, carer interactions are the most important part of our service and so I'm glad to hear you could not fault them. We hold ourselves to high standards and so do apologise that all of our service did not meet your expectations. To ensure we always meet the high standards we set, we value your opinion and we will review our office/support staff interactions with you to see where any improvements could have been made. Again, thank you for your positive feedback for the carers, we will be sure to pass this on.

Nightingales Golden Care have been providing live-in care for Mum for the past 7 months following her stroke last year. I cannot praise Mum's carer enough for the exemplary care that she provides for her every single day. She goes above and beyond in all her care for her and is absolutely amazing.
I have peace of mind knowing that Mum is being looked after so well and knowing that all her needs and wishes are being put first. Nothing is too much trouble for her carer and I feel happy knowing that Mum feels safe, reassured and comfortable at all times under her supervision and care. All the staff at Nightingales are so friendly and helpful. They really do care about all their clients. Their care, support and attention it has made it possible for Mum to stay in her own home, which means so much to her and all the family.

Nightingales Golden Care have been providing live-in care for my mum who has dementia for the last six months. The care she has received has been brilliant. Mum’s main carer is so caring and thoughtful. Mum does not think she needs any help so looking after mum is no easy task, but her carer is always
finding the best way to get mum to accept help. I can not praise the staff enough. We will be forever grateful that we found Nightingales Golden Care to allow mum to keep living in her own home at this difficult time.

Nightingales started providing care for my mum Mum and Dad in October 2020, my Dad has now passed away and they are still caring for my Mum who has dementia. They are absolutely amazing! In the beginning, things were quite difficult as my mum, in particular, didn't like having a carer in the house but
Nightingales worked really hard over a number of difficult months to find the right sort of carers. For the last year, the carers have all 'worked' and all been fantastic. I think the key is the word 'care', they really all seem to care about Mum and want the best for her. They don't just see to her everyday needs but try and engage her and spend time with her. I cannot recommend them enough - without their support both our lives and the lives of Mum and Dad would have been much more difficult. We will always be grateful for this.

I'm very happy to see them arriving every day. The routine goes very smoothly every day. I have a good rapport with the carers. We always find something to laugh about. they go.

The maximum Review Score for a Home Care Provider is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.861 for Nightingales Golden Care Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (31 Excellents x 5) + (5 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.861

Job Title: Clinical Lead Joined: 2002

Hi everyone, my name is Sally, and I am the Clinical Lead here at Nightingales Golden Care.

Most staff will probably recognise me as the lady in the blue scrubs. I like to get out about doing welfare checks and to help to establish new care packages and monitor that they are working well. Staff will probably hear from me when updating their competencies in areas such as Medication, Moving & Handling, and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC).

I really enjoy working here at Nightingales, and I’m proud of the staff that we have and the difference we make to people’s lives through our work. Assisting people to stay at home for longer, enabling them to live in the way they want to and ensuring those at the end of their lives have everything they need.

Other than my three children and my 8 grandchildren, who I love very much, setting up Nightingales back in 2002 is the thing I am most proud of. It’s been through a lot of changes over the years, and I am proud of my son Ben and the way he manages it. Working with him has been a highlight of my career.

I’ve been working in care for more than 45 years and have trained as a Registered Nurse and a midwife and have a BSC in disability studies. Over the years, I have worked in hospitals, care homes and the community in many different roles and have enjoyed the variety of experiences that working in care can bring. I love being able to do enriching activities with service users, such as swimming with a lady with Cerebral palsy, cooking with a client with dementia, or riding bikes with a terminally ill man.

Job Title: Accounts & Payroll Manager Joined: 2007

Hi everyone, my name is Dan, I am the accounts and payroll manager here at Nightingales Golden Care. My main role within the organisation is to maintain the accounts, invoicing, and payrolling. I also have the unofficial title of IT Support which mainly consists of asking people if they’ve tried turning it off and on again!

In my spare time, I like relaxing in front of a good game, going to the gym and paddle boarding despite nearly drowning myself a number of times.

I’ve been with the company since 2007, and in that time, I have progressed through a range of roles from Coordinator, Operations Manager, and to my current role as Accounts and Payroll Manager. This has given me unique insights into the many dimensions of domiciliary care provision, enabling me to continually refine our processes. I’m also the go-to man if anyone needs an all singing, all dancing spreadsheet!

I’m very proud to work for Nightingales, as part of an excellent management team from all walks of life. Together, we’ve overcome a range of challenges within the industry and continue to push Nightingales forward to deliver a five-star service.

My most memorable moment from my time here was when there was water leaking through the office ceiling. Within a matter of minutes from noticing a small drip, the ceiling and lights came crashing down around us whilst we were grabbing all the paperwork and equipment we could. It was that day we truly learnt the importance of cloud storage.

Job Title: Engagement Manager Joined: 2021

Nightingales Golden Care Engagement Manager Charlotte has been working in Health and Social Care since she began her nurse training in 2001.

Charlotte loves working at Nightingales because she has seen the family business grow and evolve, continuously working to improve the quality service it provides.

Staff will usually hear from Charlotte when she is responding to their alerts or issues, or during their regular supervisions.

‘I know how hard the staff work at Nightingales and how difficult the role can be. I’m always trying to understand what the challenges are to see if we can make things run a bit smoother.’ - Charlotte

Charlotte is also responsible for interviewing and inducting new members of staff, auditing, creating content; communications and photography for our website.

Charlotte gained the nickname ‘textbooks’ for studying random subjects and also has a Degree in Nursing, a Master's in Medical Ethics and Law, and a Diploma in Human Physiology and Health.

Her most memorable moment in care came when covering the groups and teaching the service users how to play her favourite game ‘Monopoly Deal.’

In her free time, Charlotte likes to do very uncool things like knit and crochet and take pictures of her dog and cat. She has three girls and therefore spends a huge amount of her life doing washing.

Colette McDermott

Job Title: Coordinator Joined: 2019

Colette has been working in the care industry on and off since she was 16 and started working for Nightingales in 2019. Her knack for paperwork quickly making her an invaluable member of the team.

‘I am always very proud to say I work for Nightingales, as the standards of this company are so high, and I have never worked in a company where its heart was so firmly in the right place.’ - Colette.

Colette says that although her official title is Administrative Assistant, her non-official title should be “anything I can help with?” as her role has evolved over the years from mainly scanning, archiving and stuffing envelopes; to manning the phones, dealing with queries about the services we provide at Nightingales, field sales calls, and generally pointing people in the right direction.

'I cover basic admin tasks such as recording and tracking annual leave and try to keep everyone informed and up to date of any minor changes (the little things matter). I also liaise with other professionals such as GP’s and Social Services on behalf of staff and service users, which means I can spend a lot of time listening to “on hold” music! If carers or service users are not sure about who they need to talk to or how to complete any task or have a question about pretty much anything, I am always happy to help.

It’s a stressful industry a lot of the time, and people can be under a lot of pressure, but when you are privileged to be part of people’s personal lives, there is always room to celebrate the good things and have a giggle.'
