Nightingales Golden Care have been providing live-in care for my mum who has dementia for the last six months. The care she has received has been brilliant. Mum’s main carer is so caring and thoughtful. Mum does not think she needs any help so looking after mum is no easy task, but her carer is always finding the best way to get mum to accept help. I can not praise the staff enough. We will be forever grateful that we found Nightingales Golden Care to allow mum to keep living in her own home at this difficult time.
Nightingales started providing care for my mum Mum and Dad in October 2020, my Dad has now passed away and they are still caring for my Mum who has dementia. They are absolutely amazing! In the beginning, things were quite difficult as my mum, in particular, didn't like having a carer in the house but Nightingales worked really hard over a number of difficult months to find the right sort of carers. For the last year, the carers have all 'worked' and all been fantastic. I think the key is the word 'care', they really all seem to care about Mum and want the best for her. They don't just see to her everyday needs but try and engage her and spend time with her. I cannot recommend them enough - without their support both our lives and the lives of Mum and Dad would have been much more difficult. We will always be grateful for this.
Carers are always friendly and take of my wife's every need in the mornings.
So far the support we have received as a family has been superb.
It has been a real pleasure to work with them, we are really pleased with the feedback, and their flexibility in meeting our needs.
We have had awake overnight care to allow mum to get used to having lost dad and after 3 weeks in the hospital herself. It has been a comfort blanket and has saved us all. Our carer is reliable, kind and caring and mum really likes her! Thank you.
I'm very happy to see them arriving every day. The routine goes very smoothly every day. I have a good rapport with the carers. We always find something to laugh about. All main duties are accomplished to a high standard but they go the extra mile to make sure that I have everything I need by me before they go.
My uncle, who is 93, needed care as he had Dementia and was taken into hospital, this is when Nightingales came to his and our rescue. The care he received went way on beyond what I thought he would get. In particular, one lady was amazing sorting out not only his care but his shopping list for me to order for him. When he first went there, he needed everything clothing, bedding etc. She was able to tell me what he needed. Unfortunately, he now has to go into a care home. I and my family will always be grateful for everything they did for his care. I also feel that I made friends with two of the ladies. A big thank you!
Thank you for your kind words, we will pass them on to the care staff. All the best to you and your uncle.
Communication with the family is excellent and we have really appreciated the carers in these past few months.
Having been using Nightingales Golden Care Ltd for more than 3 years and found them to be an excellent provider giving me all the services I need over this period of time. The staff are so helpful and caring. I am 94 and over the first year have noticed I am slowing down and consequently need more attention from the carers which is willingly given and making sure that medical aids are to hand as I am getting unsteady on my feet. Although still manage to travel locally by taxis to Dr surgeries and hospital appointments. My daughter comes weekly for shopping trips too.
A well-run company, the staff are well trained and look smart in their uniforms. I receive a weekly rota of visits AM and PM should there be any change the office staff who are excellent phone straight away to tell us details and make sure my husband and I are ok. In the last year, I have carers who stay on 2 days a week to clean the flat thoroughly as I have suffered few years with spondylitis of neck and spine and osteoarthritis rheumatoid arthritis I fight the pain or won't give in. As I have been a carer for my husband for over 20 years. I appreciate the carers help and we enjoy a good chat and laugh.
Very helpful. Takes my wife out for coffee and talks to her. Makes tea and coffee and food for her. Helps dress her and looks after her at home and outside.
They were also company for me coming in four times a day; we would have a small chat. I would be phoned and informed if the time of visit needed to be altered.
The service is very helpful to my daily/weekly living. It provides vital support that I need. Life would be very difficult without it. Without the service, I would be unable to go out and have help with my shopping and appointments. It is like a vital lifeline most needed. I am very happy to have the service.
I am very happy with my carers. It is good to have regular support and having a chat with them. They are very kind and friendly. Thank you for them.
The service provided has been excellent. The staff have been reliable, kind and responsive to Mum's needs.
Each carer is courteous, thoughtful and attentive to Mum's needs. Mum looks forward to each visit and welcomes the attention she receives. The family are kept well informed by the office. We value the short notes left in Mum's book as she can read what has happened, especially the outings each Tuesday.
It is very helpful to have a carer in so I get a little bit of time to do shopping and pay bills each week great service.
My carer is very good, helps me with doctors appointments, takes me shopping and we make cakes in the house.
She is very accommodating in every way.
The care service provided is excellent. My dad is well looked after and looks forward to their visits. They are reliable, kind and caring and I would highly recommend them.

Meet the Team (6)
Hi everyone, my name is Sally, and I am the Clinical Lead here at Nightingales Golden Care.
Most staff will probably recognise me as the lady in the blue scrubs. I like to get out about doing welfare checks and to help to establish new care packages and monitor that they are working well. Staff will probably hear from me when updating their competencies in areas such as Medication, Moving & Handling, and Infection Prevention & Control (IPC).
I really enjoy working here at Nightingales, and I’m proud of the staff that we have and the difference we make to people’s lives through our work. Assisting people to stay at home for longer, enabling them to live in the way they want to and ensuring those at the end of their lives have everything they need.
Other than my three children and my 8 grandchildren, who I love very much, setting up Nightingales back in 2002 is the thing I am most proud of. It’s been through a lot of changes over the years, and I am proud of my son Ben and the way he manages it. Working with him has been a highlight of my career.
I’ve been working in care for more than 45 years and have trained as a Registered Nurse and a midwife and have a BSC in disability studies. Over the years, I have worked in hospitals, care homes and the community in many different roles and have enjoyed the variety of experiences that working in care can bring. I love being able to do enriching activities with service users, such as swimming with a lady with Cerebral palsy, cooking with a client with dementia, or riding bikes with a terminally ill man.
I grew up in a family of nurses, and I have been working in the care industry since my first role as a community carer when I was 16.
I went to University and specialised in Recruitment and Human Resource Management, eventually gaining my Registered Manager Qualification when I became the manager of Nightingale's Golden Care in 2009.
I'm very proud of the awards we have won whilst I have been the manager, including my own award of the 'Home Care Manager of the Year Award' at the Great British Care Awards in 2014, as well as awards for other staff members such as the 'Carer of the Year' at the Hampshire Care Awards, and our Clinical Lead winning several awards throughout her time with us.
I'm also proud of our achievements in being named in the Top 20 Most Recommended Care Agencies in the South East for 4 years in a row.
In my spare time I enjoy running marathons, and attending Pompey games with my 2 boys.
Hi everyone, my name is Dan, and I am the Accounts and Payroll Manager here at Nightingales Golden Care. My main role within the organisation is to maintain the accounts, invoicing, and payroll. I also have the unofficial title of 'IT Support', which mainly consists of asking people if they’ve tried turning it off and on again!
In my spare time, I like relaxing in front of a good game, going to the gym and paddle-boarding despite nearly drowning myself a number of times.
I’ve been with the company since 2007, and in that time, I have progressed through a range of roles from Coordinator, Operations Manager, and to my current role as Accounts and Payroll Manager. This has given me unique insights into the many dimensions of care provision, enabling me to continually refine our processes. I’m also the go-to man if anyone needs an all-singing, all-dancing spreadsheet!
I’m very proud to work for Nightingales, as part of an excellent management team from all walks of life. Together, we’ve overcome a range of challenges within the industry and continue to push Nightingales forward to deliver a five-star service.
The most memorable moment from my time here was when there was water leaking through the office ceiling. Within a matter of minutes of noticing a small drip, the ceiling and lights came crashing down around us whilst we were grabbing all the paperwork and equipment we could. It was that day we truly learnt the importance of cloud storage.
Hi, I'm Charlotte, the Engagement Manager for Nightingale's Golden Care. Like Ben, I also grew up in a family of nurses (it was the same family, I'm his sister)!
I have been working in Health and Social Care since I began my nurse training in 2001.
I love working here because I have seen the family business grow and evolve, and I enjoy working to improve the quality of service it provides.
Staff will usually hear from me when I am responding to their alerts or issues, or during their regular supervisions.
I know how hard the staff work at Nightingales and how difficult the role can be. I’m always trying to understand what the challenges are to see if we can make things run a bit smoother.
I gained the nickname ‘textbooks’ for studying random subjects, and also have a Degree in Nursing, a Master's in Medical Ethics and Law, and a Diploma in Human Physiology and Health.
My husband Tim joined Nightingale's Golden Care as Operations Manager in June 2025, and so our kitchen table often serves as a secondary office space.
In my free time, I like to do very uncool things like knit and crochet and take pictures of my dog and cat. I have three girls and therefore spend a huge amount of my life doing washing.
Hi, I'm Tim. I'm the Operations Manager for Nightingale's Golden Care.
I grew up in a very large family, and both of my parents were doctors. I've been married to Charlotte since 2008 and have watched the family business grow before bringing my skills learned from working in newspaper journalism for 10 years, and in engagement for local authorities for over 15 years.
I really enjoy working with people to help to make their sometimes challenging lives easier, and love learning about the histories of the many families we help to look after.
Outside of work, I love football and support my local team, Portsmouth. I enjoy long dog walks along the South Downs. I also love music, history, board games, and a good podcast.
Hi, I'm Colette, and I have been working in the care industry on and off since I was 16. I started working for Nightingale's Golden Care in 2019. My knack for organising quickly made me an invaluable member of the team.
I am always very proud to say I work for Nightingales, as the standards of this company are so high, and I have never worked in a company where its heart is so firmly in the right place.
Although my official title is Administrative Assistant, my non-official title should be “anything I can help with?” as my role has evolved over the years from mainly scanning, archiving and stuffing envelopes, to manning the phones, dealing with queries about the services we provide at Nightingales, fielding sales calls, and generally pointing people in the right direction.
I cover basic admin tasks such as recording and tracking annual leave, and try to keep everyone informed and up to date on any minor changes (the little things matter). I also liaise with other professionals, such as GPs and Social Services on behalf of staff and service users, which means I can spend a lot of time listening to “on hold” music! If carers or service users are not sure about who they need to talk to or how to complete any task or have a question about pretty much anything, I am always happy to help.
It’s a stressful industry a lot of the time, and people can be under a lot of pressure, but when you are privileged to be part of people’s personal lives, there is always room to celebrate the good things and have a giggle.
