We chose St Margaret's Homecare to look after my father-in-law. They came highly recommended. We previously used another team, who constantly let us down, missed calls late calls repeatedly, and the lack of care really upset my father-in-law and the lack of respect and dignity towards him. I called St Margaret's and spoke to the manager, who basically put a team in place within the day. They came, did a full assessment of his needs, assessment of his mobility, and went through all his medical history and medication needs, so through, they basically spent the morning with us. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the carers. They always informed us of any changes. We sadly had to move him into full-time care after he suffered a stroke; the team were just brilliant. I got to know all the staff. I would not hesitate to use them again for any family member. If I see anyone from the team or the manager, they genuinely ask after him. Five-star team. Thank you all.
On the whole, my experience has been favourable. I receive good care, and all my needs are being met. I have good communication with the office, and they generally accommodate any requests. I can say, I am very happy with St Margaret's, the carers and the level of care I receive. I only have one small issue, which I shall direct to the complaints procedure as requested in these review instructions.
Very reliable and efficient service; thank you. The lady who usually comes is very pleasant and efficient. She can normally complete all the tasks required. The office staff are usually efficient as well.
St Margaret’s provides a professional standard of care. Carers are friendly and attentive to my brother's needs. They provide a good system of communication and feedback to ensure his needs are met and important information is exchanged between carers, family members and other agencies.
At all times, the staff were friendly, polite and helpful, and any problems that occurred were sorted immediately. Although the carers were always professional, they became like members of the family, and my aunt loved them all and looked forward to their visits.
I would not hesitate to recommend St Margaret’s Homecare Harrogate.

Meet the Team (7)
Wendy founded the business with her husband John in 1989, primarily in the care home sector. This was successful and when a local G.P. requested St Margaret’s help, with a client over the Christmas period, which we did, there started our journey into the Homecare Sector. In 2012 Wendy and John decided to focus solely on the Homecare industry and offer an outstanding service in Harrogate. In recent years it has been extended to York and Selby.
Wendy is a qualified NVQ Registered Manager with CQC, and she cares greatly for her staff and clients’ wellbeing. The staff numbers increase year on year to meet the growing demand for our services. Many of the St Margaret’s team have been with Wendy for 15-20 years. We have a great longstanding team, something Wendy is very proud of.
Vicky started as a carer for St Margaret’s in Harrogate.
Vicky’s potential was recognised very quickly leading to her being promoted to run our main office team in Harrogate as registered manager.
It proved very successful. Vicky has her level 5 NVQ and has worked with us for many years. She is a highly valued member of our team.
Abby started working as a carer in Harrogate. She showed great potential and enthusiasm and has worked her way up to run our Selby & York office.
Abby is a qualified NVQ level 5 Registered Manager. Abby has a great rapport with her staff and clients, and we are very pleased to have supported Abby to qualify and become the asset that she is to the St Margaret’s family.
Lisa has been a key part of the team since 2006 as a carer in the community. She is our qualified moving & handling trainer. Lisa’s position today as field manager is essential to assess the exact needs of clients both existing and new, whilst also maintaining regular reviews to ensure their needs are met. Her experience and support to our team of carers are exceptional.
Rachel started her journey with St Margaret’s as a carer in 2009. She left Harrogate, when she married, returning a few years ago and keen to work for St Margaret’s again.
Rachel is now the Assistant Manager in Harrogate undertaking new clients and overseeing care plans to ensure they are fulfilled and maintain the highest standards of care.
Rachel also supports Vicky Clark, our Harrogate Office Manager, with the day-to-day managing of clients' care and administration.
Sharon is our Area Manager in York and is currently working towards her level 5 NVQ. Sharon is integral to our specialist service and provides training and support for our clients with Dementia. Sharon is our key trainer in this specialist area and supports and trains our care team.
Ross trained as a chartered accountant with KPMG and has worked in finance for 15 years in England and overseas. In April 2020 Ross’s father, and joint founder of St Margaret’s, sadly passed away. Ross decided that his next vocation would be to help his Mum, Wendy, with the family business and help build on the legacy created by his parents over the last 30 years.
Ross worked as a carer for St Margaret’s, whilst he was at university and has inherited his parent’s passion for providing the best quality care. Growing up in the care home environment Ross understands the industry and appreciates the quality-of-service clients deserve during their time with St Margaret’s.
