The standard of heartfelt care and attention they gave to our mum over the past years has been nothing other EXCELLENT. The team ALWAYS came with a professional and sensitive approach, pursued duties with efficiency and accuracy but most importantly each team member always took into account personal priorities and preferences.
We can't recommend them highly enough.
My Mum Muriel received outstanding care from St Margaret's until her death this month aged 94. The support enabled her to live quite an independent life at home right up to the end. After my Dad died, and her health gradually deteriorated, the carers were sensitive to offering support that met he changing needs as time went on. Thank you for all you did for her.
My brother has special needs around social impairments and cognition. He has been living independently for years and due to a change of physical needs now requires more support in his own home. St Margaret's provided first-class support from day 1. Staff coming in are truly caring and professional. As I do not live locally but have a legal responsibility for my brother I have interacted with St Margaret's office quite frequently during this transition period in order to coordinate on practical aspects including medication. St Margaret's staff support trips out for appointments or for a change of scene which is a great help to my brother. This has all gone smoothly and a few hiccups have quickly been sorted. St Margaret's has shown they can really work as a team with the family, some of the office staff get involved in visits so they understand and have insight into my brother's needs and abilities. It is reassuring that I can use the portal to see how visits have gone.
I am happy to recommend St Margaret's to others looking for quality home care.
Our second experience with St Margaret's as a family, this time for my grandma (previously had cared for my grandpa) and cannot recommend them enough. Grandma genuinely looked forward to the team coming, her carer especially. The team helped to put our minds at ease knowing that Grandma was being supported by genuinely kind and caring people, who ensured her dignity was maintained as her needs changed. We had a fantastic experience for both of my grandparents and I would not hesitate to recommend St Margaret's to anybody.
Professional and sympathetic to our mother's needs.
Most things asked by mother are carried out.
Thank you for your ongoing service.
The St Margaret's team have been so supportive of my Mother. She sadly had a bad fall in December 2024. St Margarets came to support my sisters and me, with continuing care for Mum in her Flat in Harrogate. Morning and evening, 7 days per week, the St Margarets Team were so helpful and kind, administering medicines and eye drops and helping with exercises, for both cognitive and movement. The friendly staff made the meetings, enjoyable, and constructive for her recovery, as well as helpful, for Mum and ourselves. We cannot praise them highly enough. A huge thank you for all that you have done. We would all be very happy to recommend you to others.
Mum has now moved, we would be happy to use St Margaret's Homecare services again and would recommend to others.
We approached St Margaret's Homecare when we moved Mum to live near us in Harrogate almost 3 years ago. From the initial meeting, we found both the management team and the team of caregivers to be friendly, professional, approachable, empathetic and caring. Everyone has gone above and beyond to provide care of an excellent standard to Mum and we are all very grateful. The attention to detail with regards to person-centred care is second to none. Thank you for all that you do and all you have done.
St Margaret's have been helping my mum and dad daily with washing and dressing and some other household tasks over a period of several weeks now after both had falls and broke bones. We just couldn't provide the amount of care needed on our own so approached St Margaret's for help as they had been personally recommended to us. We've met the carers at various times and without exception, they have all been really friendly, professional, helpful, and efficient, as have their management team. We're really pleased with them and I would have no hesitation in using their service again and recommending them to others.
Would not hesitate to recommend it.
Thank you.
We have met three members of your team and we’re impressed with their dedication and sensitivity to Mum's needs.
We never ever expected to be in this situation and our shock and heartbreak are being supported by your team.
Our experience with St Margaret's Homecare has been excellent. Communication with the team has always been quick and effective with prompt responses to any contact from us. All the carers have been lovely with my mum and have treated her with respect and dignity. We have really appreciated the attention to detail paid to the small tasks like making the bed neatly, emptying bins and washing up to keep Mum's home clean and tidy when she is no longer able to do these jobs herself. We have been delighted with the service provided by St Margaret's Homecare and we would definitely recommend St Margaret's to anyone else looking for carers for a relative.
I was caring for my wife at home when I had to go into hospital a couple of times. Our daughter was able to come and help us for a couple of weeks but she found St Margaret's Homecare carers to come and fill the gap, which they have done very well. We have a carer coming in four times a week and they are very good in arriving on time and helping us with showering and general household tasks.
Right from the start, the whole thing was carried out professionally but also sensitively.
The staff are very professional but also very friendly. The later really is a big part of the recovery process and life for my mum becoming stable and enjoyable again.
The use of the care management app allows me to see what going on beyond my regular calls and gives me and my family peace of mind and confidence for the future.
I will never forget the level of support St. Margarets Homecare provided to my father, our family and me when facing end-of-life home care. The in-home care team were so capable and compassionate. From our experience, I could not recommend St. Margarets more confidently. Thank You.
A big thank you to the staff of St Margaret's Homecare for all your support through our difficult time; we wouldn't have gotten through it without you. I will never forget your kind words and support..
We sometimes have more calls if we need them. St Margaret’s are always professional and caring in the service they provide. They accommodate us the best we could expect and are always on hand. The app system they use for keeping track of Mum's care is fantastic. We can log in and check Mum's notes and how things are going. St Margaret’s has made this testing life change much easier than expected.
Thanks to St Margaret’s for supporting us through a difficult period with my father. You made the situation much more manageable, and the carers who visited regularly were excellent. We are very grateful.
We chose St Margaret's Homecare to look after my father-in-law. They came highly recommended. We previously used another team, who constantly let us down, missed calls late calls repeatedly, and the lack of care really upset my father-in-law and the lack of respect and dignity towards him. I called St Margaret's and spoke to the manager, who basically put a team in place within the day. They came, did a full assessment of his needs, assessment of his mobility, and went through all his medical history and medication needs, so through, they basically spent the morning with us. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the carers. They always informed us of any changes. We sadly had to move him into full-time care after he suffered a stroke; the team were just brilliant. I got to know all the staff. I would not hesitate to use them again for any family member. If I see anyone from the team or the manager, they genuinely ask after him. Five-star team. Thank you all.

Meet the Team (7)
Wendy founded the business with her husband John in 1989, primarily in the care home sector. This was successful and when a local G.P. requested St Margaret’s help, with a client over the Christmas period, which we did, there started our journey into the Homecare Sector. In 2012 Wendy and John decided to focus solely on the Homecare industry and offer an outstanding service in Harrogate. In recent years it has been extended to York and Selby.
Wendy is a qualified NVQ Registered Manager with CQC, and she cares greatly for her staff and clients’ wellbeing. The staff numbers increase year on year to meet the growing demand for our services. Many of the St Margaret’s team have been with Wendy for 15-20 years. We have a great longstanding team, something Wendy is very proud of.
Vicky started as a carer for St Margaret’s in Harrogate.
Vicky’s potential was recognised very quickly leading to her being promoted to run our main office team in Harrogate as registered manager.
It proved very successful. Vicky has her level 5 NVQ and has worked with us for many years. She is a highly valued member of our team.

Ross trained as a chartered accountant with KPMG and has worked in finance for 15 years in England and overseas. In April 2020 Ross’s father, and joint founder of St Margaret’s, sadly passed away. Ross decided that his next vocation would be to help his Mum, Wendy, with the family business and help build on the legacy created by his parents over the last 30 years.
Ross worked as a carer for St Margaret’s, whilst he was at university and has inherited his parent’s passion for providing the best quality care. Growing up in the care home environment Ross understands the industry and appreciates the quality-of-service clients deserve during their time with St Margaret’s.
